Chapter 64 – GOY 64
#64
“Lee Yeon-soo!”
Unable to contain his rage, Aaron grabbed an object from the table and hurled it.
He had intended to enter the gate alone and capture everyone’s attention while Guiding Joo Seung-hyuk.
After all, Alphas are drawn to Omegas, and Espers become subservient to excellent Guiding.
He was confident that as long as he provided the Guiding, he could captivate Joo Seung-hyuk. Adding the pheromones of a dominant omega to the mix would have been the icing on the cake.
Both Joo Seung-hyuk and the Seong Han Group would have fallen into his hands.
But everything had gone wrong.
Not only had Lee Yeon-soo monopolized Joo Seung-hyuk, but he had also exposed Aaron’s use of Dust to the reporters.
“Lee Yeon-soo, I won’t let visit our siteyou get away with Read on Read BL Novelsthis! I’ll never forgive you!”
Aaron screamed, throwing another object.
Watching Aaron, Oh Seok-gwang clicked his tongue and asked pointedly,
“Guide Aaron, is it true that you smoked Dust?”
“…I did a little.”
He had hoped it wasn’t true, but it was. Oh Seok-gwang pressed his hand to his forehead. He knew the youngest son of a wealthy family would be immature, but he hadn’t realized he was this stupid.
“A Guide uses Dust? And right before Guiding? Are you out of your mind!”
“I didn’t do it yesterday!”
“Do you call that an excuse! Even if you’re addicted to Dust, you should have abstained for at least three days!”
It is said that Dust remains in the body for three days. Of course, it isn’t completely expelled, and some remains to affect the mana, but after three days, the strong effects disappear, making it undetectable in drug tests and significantly reducing the possibility of Red Rune Shock during Guiding.
“So what? Are you saying this is all my fault?”
Far from reflecting on his actions, Aaron reacted with indignant anger.
“Then are you saying it’s my responsibility?”
“Nothing went according to plan, just like you said! If you had done your job properly and let me Guide Joo Seung-hyuk, this wouldn’t have happened!”
“If Joo Seung-hyuk had gone into Red Rune Shock, it would have been a much bigger disaster!”
“There’s no way Joo Seung-hyuk would experience something like an allergy!”
“…….”
There was no correlation between Red Rune allergic reactions and one’s rank.
Yet, Aaron confidently spouted such ignorant remarks.
Oh Seok-gwang was appalled. No matter how arrogant and shameless he thought Aaron was, he had believed Aaron was better than Lee Yeon-soo. But that belief was now fracturing.
Lee Yeon-soo’s mere existence stimulated his inferiority complex. He wanted to crush and trample him, but as a human being, there was nothing wrong with Lee Yeon-soo.
Aaron, however, was an irredeemable piece of trash.
But it was useless for his evaluation of the two to change now. [visit our site][unauthorized copy]He was already in the stolen contentsame boat as Aaron, and that boat was sinking.
“Sigh, what’s the point of arguing about this? It’s already over.”
“Who says it’s over?”
Does he still not grasp the situation? Professor Oh grit his teeth in anger. If Aaron weren’t Han Gun-cheol’s grandson, he would have unleashed a torrent of curses.
“You were caught using Dust! I don’t know about America, but in Korea, using drugs means it’s over!”
“Don’t worry. The one who’s finished will be Lee Yeon-soo.”
Aaron’s voice was filled with conviction. He no longer sounded like a spoiled brat.
‘Does he have a plan?’
Oh Seok-gwang listened intently to his words.
The next day, the atmosphere at the Esper Academy was grim.
Moon Seon-woo, who was highly respected among the Espers, had been hospitalized due to Red Rune Shock. Although he survived thanks to Lee Yeon-soo’s emergency measures, he had not yet regained consciousness.
Lee Yeon-soo was also [unauthorized copy]currently hospitalized, having overused his mana shortly after his own recovery.
When Kim Joon heard that Lee Yeon-soo was sick, he felt helpless. He spent the entire day worrying about him.
During lunch, as soon as Kim Joon met Park Ji-hee at the school cafeteria, he asked her a question, forgetting even to greet her.
“How is Yeon-soo sunbae?”
Jeong So-eun and Park Dong-seok, who were with them, also pricked up their ears, waiting for her answer.
“I talked to him on the phone a moment ago, and he sounded like he was dying. He has no energy at all. He says he’s okay, but I think he’s in bad shape.”
Ji-hee sighed. How long had it been since he was discharged from the hospital, and why did he push himself again…?
But if Lee Yeon-soo hadn’t stepped in then, Moon Seon-woo might have lost his life on the spot.
If it had been Park Ji-hee herself, she wouldn’t have been able to assess the situation and take action so quickly.
Still, I should have been the one to do it, not Yeon-soo, who had barely recovered….
She felt upset, feeling as though Yeon-soo was sick because of her own incompetence.
“When does he say he’ll be discharged?”
“I don’t know. At least it’s a relief that Joo Seung-hyuk is by his side nursing him.”
Kim Joon bit his lip hard. He should have been relieved that someone was looking after his sunbae, but he felt distressed.
After hearing that Lee Yeon-soo was sick, Kim Joon had sent several messages. But they were all read and ignored. He had gathered the courage to call, but the call went unanswered.
Yeon-soo sunbae wouldn’t do that. It was probably—no, it must be Joo Seung-hyuk’s doing.
“Ah, that bastard Aaron is seriously infuriating. How can you do Guiding while high on drugs?”
So-eun exploded in anger.
Guiding while using Dust doesn’t automatically cause Red Rune Shock. In fact, such occurrences are extremely rare.
However, one couldn’t be complacent just because there was no hypersensitive allergic reaction.
If mana containing Red Rune components flowed into an Esper’s body through Guiding, side effects would eventually occur, and the body would inevitably break down, even if not immediately. It wasn’t just the mana; they would collapse mentally and physically.
And the Esper hadn’t even taken the drugs themselves.
For a Guide to use Dust was not just ruining their [stolen content]own life, but was practically visit our sitean stolen contentact of murder, killing the Esper as well.
“But he says it’s absolutely not him. I heard he even voluntarily underwent a test this morning.”
As Dong-seok said, Aaron had dressed in a black suit and voluntarily appeared at the police station this morning.
Claiming that this incident was clear slander, he even shed a single tear as if he were wronged.
“He probably waited three days after using the drugs. All the kids who use Dust do that. The pattern is always the same. They go underground when suspicions arise, then crawl back out and act wronged once it’s no longer detectable.”
“That’s true. I don’t believe Aaron’s words either. I’m just baffled by how naturally he’s acting.”
Listening to their conversation, Ji-hee let out a low sigh.
“Aaron is popular. If he says it wasn’t him, wouldn’t many people believe him?”
“Eh. No way. There are plenty of people like that; people aren’t fools, they won’t be fooled again.”
So-eun looked at her phone. She intended to check the comments on the article, but another article caught her eye first.
“Oh, wait. What’s this?”
“What?”
“It says the results are out.”
“What do they say?”
“They say Dust components were not detected. It’s a preliminary test, and the detailed results will come out in a week, but it’ll probably be the same. They say Dust doesn’t show up even in blood tests.”
There were limits to detecting Dust using conventional methods.
Because of this, celebrities sought out Dust despite the exorbitant price. Even if they were suspected of drug use, they could pretend to be innocent as long as they hid for three days.
“How are people reacting?”
“Not great.”
So-eun checked the comments under the article.
While there were some supportive posts saying they believed him, the majority were insults, stating it was obvious it wouldn’t show up since three days had passed.
After reading a few top comments, she exited the article. Then, a new article appeared that hadn’t been there a moment ago.
“Oh, wait. What is this?”
“What?”
“It says Professor Oh apologized.”
“Ah, that man should apologize too. This is supposed to be an academy; does it make sense to let a foreigner participate in training! He brought in a Dust addict and caused this whole mess!”
As Ji-hee grew angry, Dong-seok chuckled softly.
“You always say this place isn’t an academy. You said you hated the name because it lacked foundation.”
“It does lack foundation. We’re not going to become officers, so what’s with the ‘Academy’ part.”
When the Esper Academy’s jurisdiction shifted from the Ministry of National Defense to the Ministry of Ability Users, there were discussions about changing the name. However, they were maintaining the existing name as they couldn’t find a suitable replacement.
“They just want us to become officers at the Center after graduation.”
“That’s why I hate it even more. They’re subtly pressuring us to go to the Center.”
Ji-hee shuddered.
“That’s true.”
“We even do internships at the Center in our fourth year.”
Everyone grumbled, but Kim Joon couldn’t join the conversation. What the Center wanted were B-Class, or at least C1-Class. For those below that rank, it wasn’t easy to get hired even if they wanted to go to the Center. It was so competitive it was called a ‘dream workplace.’
Kim Joon also wanted to go to the Center. It wasn’t that he wanted a stable job like everyone else.
He had heard that Lee Yeon-soo was likely headed for the Center after graduation. If he went to the Center, he could continue to be with him.
“Anyway, I hope Oh Seok-gwang disappears this time. What does he say? Is he just apologizing with words? Does he say he’s quitting?”
“No. It’s not that. He says he’s apologizing for framing Aaron.”
“What?!”
Ji-hee’s face contorted instantly. Kim Joon and Dong-seok were also shocked.
So-eun read the contents of the article.
“Professor Oh Seok-gwang explained the situation, stating, ‘The cause of this incident was an S-Class Guide Guiding an Esper with lacking aptitude. When mana of a completely different dimension was supplied, the Esper could not accept it, resulting in shock symptoms.’”
“Bullshit. Seon-woo sunbae lacks aptitude? He’s right after Joo Seung-hyuk, so is he saying everyone except Joo Seung-hyuk is trash? And if he’s S-Class, he should have been able to Guide lower ranks more easily. What the hell is [visit our site]‘mana of a different dimension’? Yeon-soo has been in charge of Seon-woo sunbae all this time.”
Ji-hee was furious. The statement was nonsense from start to finish, and there was no end to the points she could criticize.
Kim Joon and Dong-seok were equally angry.
“Exactly. He’s saying Yeon-soo sunbae is inferior to Aaron.”
“What’s wrong with Professor Oh? Is he crazy?”
“That’s not all. As a professor of the Academy, he says he will apologize for Guide Lee Yeon-soo’s rash remarks.”
“What?”
Ji-hee couldn’t believe it and checked the online article herself.
But So-eun was right. Professor Oh was claiming that Aaron had not used Dust and was framing it as Lee Yeon-soo having falsely accused him.
And with the publication of Professor Oh’s apology, public opinion flipped 180 degrees.
