Chapter 111 – GOY 111
#111
I sat on the bed and gazed out at the night sea, which had been dyed completely black. In truth, it was so dark that I couldn’t tell where the night sky ended and the sea began, or where the beach was.
A lot of time had passed since the last tray had arrived.
Was it past midnight by now? I couldn’t be sure since I didn’t have a clock.
Just then, the door opened and someone walked in. He was someone whose identity I could now recognize just by the sound of his footsteps.
As I sprang up from the sofa and turned around, the person I expected was standing there.
“You’re not asleep yet?”
Joo Seung-hyuk asked in a casual tone. As if nothing had happened today.
Instead of answering, I took his hand.
“Hyung….”
Joo Seung-hyuk seemed somewhat flustered. However, ignoring his reaction, I checked his mana. Joo Seung-hyuk’s mana was abundant and stable.
“Where did you go? Are you hurt anywhere?”
It didn’t seem like he had gone on a Gate Raid, but I asked just in case.
“I’m fine.”
“Then why weren’t you here all day?”
“I was organizing documents in the study. Why? Were you waiting for me?”
“I was worried!”
In the end, I hadn’t been able to step outside the door today.
Because I was truly worried about Joo Seung-hyuk—thinking that if visit our sitehe had gone on a Gate Raid or consumed mana for any other [unauthorized copy]reason, he might need Guiding, and if so, I was the only one who could provide it—those thoughts had kept me in this room.
I had been so worried that he might have been injured that I couldn’t do anything all day.
“You worried about me?”
“Of course I did! If you were in the study, you could have just come by for a moment to tell me! You didn’t even think about the person waiting!”
Joo Seung-hyuk had been in the study. If so, sending the employee today and leaving the door open at the end must have all been planned.
He had simply been testing me. I had suspected as much, but the possibility that it might be different weighed on my mind, leaving me unable to do anything.
The anxiety that had been tightening around my entire body all day suddenly burst, and tears welled up.
“Don’t cry. I was wrong.”
Joo Seung-hyuk tried to wipe away my tears, but I turned my head and avoided his hand.
“I want to sleep.”
How foolish. I felt pathetic for having genuinely worried even though I Read on Read BL Novelsknew it was Joo Seung-hyuk’s test.
As I tried to lie down on the bed, Joo Seung-hyuk pulled me into an embrace. Even in this situation, I couldn’t push him away because I was afraid of the Obsessive Madman, and that fact made me feel more sorrowful, causing more tears to pour out.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know you’d worry. I really didn’t know that anyone would actually worry about me….”
“…….”
Joo Seung-hyuk’s pupils were trembling with confusion. It wasn’t a reflexive apology because I had gotten angry, nor was it panic because I was crying.
Joo Seung-hyuk truly hadn’t known. He hadn’t even considered the fact that I would worry if he didn’t come, or rather, that someone else could genuinely worry about his existence.
“I’m really sorry. I was wrong.”
Joo Seung-hyuk apologized and wiped away my tears. Seeing his pitch-black eyes still clouded with confusion, my anger subsided.
Instead, I felt worried for him, as he seemed shocked by a situation that should have been natural.
“Alright…. Then I’m going to sleep now.”
“You haven’t eaten anything all day. Eat something before you sleep.”
He grabbed my sleeve.
“I’m okay. I have no appetite.”
“Then at least have some porridge.”
I shook my head. I had really been too tense all day to want to eat anything.
“Is there anything you want to eat? Just tell me anything.”
Joo Seung-hyuk spoke as if pleading, wiping the tears from my eyes. If he had been angry, it would be one thing, but seeing him not knowing what to do because he felt so sorry made my heart soften.
“…Ice cream.”
“Ice cream?”
“Yeah. Chocolate and strawberry.”
Still, I felt too angry to let it slide completely, so I added a condition.
“Alright. Just wait a moment.”
Joo Seung-hyuk left immediately and returned with cup ice creams from a famous brand.
They were chocolate and strawberry, just as I had asked. Seeing how quickly he returned, it seemed he had bought them in advance.
Well, it’s summer, so he might have bought ice cream ahead of time. However, while chocolate was possible, I didn’t think Joo Seung-hyuk would eat strawberry ice cream. He probably bought it for me.
Wait, does this guy even know my favorite ice cream flavors…?
“Hurry and eat.”
“Yeah. You eat some too.”
I handed the strawberry ice cream, not the chocolate, to Joo Seung-hyuk. Honestly, I would have liked either, but I deliberately gave him the flavor I thought he would dislike. It was a small act of spite for making me worry all day.
“I’m fine.”
“It’s boring if I eat alone.”
“Alright.”
Joo Seung-hyuk took the strawberry ice cream cup. Honestly, I thought he would just take it and not eat it, but surprisingly, he opened it immediately and put a spoonful in his mouth. However, a wrinkle formed on his smooth brow, as if it didn’t suit his taste at all.
“Is it good?”
“Yes. Anything Hyung gives me is good. You eat yours too.”
He opened the lid of the chocolate ice cream and peeled off the plastic wrap for me.
“Yeah. Thanks.”
I ate the ice cream too. As the cool chocolate flavor spread through my mouth, I felt the heat that had been raging anxiously all day subside a little.
Watching me eat, Joo Seung-hyuk, with a determined face, plunged his spoon deep into the strawberry ice cream.
He seemed intent on scooping as much as possible in one go to finish it quickly.
He really must hate it….
“Let’s swap.”
I wanted to keep being spiteful, but seeing him force himself to eat it without saying he disliked it because I was the one who gave it to him made my heart soften. Moreover, treating it like a penalty wasn’t fair to the strawberry ice cream.
“I… it’s actually really delicious….”
Realizing that I was swapping because he seemed to dislike it, he muttered softly. He was a wicked man who had made someone worry all day, yet seeing him hesitate with his lips while reading my expression felt cute.
I must be out of my mind too….
“It’s just that I want the strawberry flavor.”
“Then I’ll feed you.”
Joo Seung-hyuk gave a small smile and scooped the strawberry ice cream neatly. It was the complete opposite of how he had eaten it himself. As I opened my mouth to receive it, Joo Seung-hyuk caressed my cheek.
“Your face has thinned out so much in just one day.”
“Not that much….”
“Why didn’t you eat today?”
“It was someone else, not you. I couldn’t trust them.”
“…You can eat from the people I hire from now on. Because they are people I employed.”
Does this mean this kind of thing will continue in the future?
“Then from now on, that person will bring the food?”
“If I’m not around.”
“Where are you going?”
“No. Just in case.”
As he spoke, Joo Seung-hyuk placed something on the table.
“Seung-hyuk-ah, this is….”
It was the Pistol of Horaitron. He had taken it before he imprisoned me in the basement….
“Take it.”
“Can I?”
“It was yours originally.”
It was never mine. I had only kept it for a while because Joo Seung-hyuk gave it to me. Even if this hadn’t happened, I intended to return it someday.
“Thanks.”
But this time, I accepted it without hesitation. Having a weapon would be helpful in escaping from Joo Seung-hyuk.
As I carefully picked up the pistol, Joo Seung-hyuk caressed my face again.
“You’ve become too thin. You’re in the room every day, yet you keep getting thinner.”
Seeing the look of genuine worry in his eyes was absurd.
That’s because you never leave me alone for a single moment!
But I couldn’t exactly say that I had no time to put on weight because I was too busy entwining my body with his. Having no proper retort, I tried to eat the ice cream, but he added something more.
“There’s a weight room downstairs. Start exercising there from tomorrow.”
The hand about to scoop the ice cream stopped dead. Go to the weight room downstairs…?
Perhaps I had misheard. Doubting my ears, I carefully spoke.
“But I can’t leave this room….”
“You may leave.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
Joo Seung-hyuk nodded. I hadn’t misheard. I could finally leave this room.
“Do you like that?”
He stared intently at my face.
Unlike his gentle voice, his gaze was cold. He was observing my reaction.
This was no time to be excited. This was an extension of the test. Just as he had intentionally left the door open by using an employee, he was continuing to check my heart.
Whether I still had the will to escape or not.
If I answered incorrectly here, the opportunity I had barely managed to gain could vanish into thin air.
What should I do? Should I say I don’t want to go out, that I want to be alone with him? Is that the correct answer to this test?
After some deliberation, I spoke.
“I do. Honestly, staying only in the room was a bit suffocating.”
No matter how I thought about it, saying I didn’t want to leave in this situation would be too unnatural. Such a contrived answer might instead fuel Joo visit our siteSeung-hyuk’s suspicion. stolen contentHe might notice that I was performing a clumsy act.
“It was suffocating?”
“Yeah. Wouldn’t anyone feel that way?”
“Then why didn’t you say anything once?”
“Because I did something wrong and you were angry, so I wanted to wait until your anger subsided.”
Joo Seung-hyuk smiled faintly and rubbed my earlobe.
“You may go outside the room. But don’t go outside the building.”
“Yeah. I understand.”
As I nodded with a docile smile, our lips overlapped. It was a kiss as soft and sweet as ice cream.
And so, I passed Joo Seung-hyuk’s second test.
