Chapter 12 – GOY 12

#12

Not a single word of the lecture entered my ears.

Joo Seung-hyuk had chased me all the way to the Changwi Guild. He knew my account number and had pressured the school, claiming he hated the idea of me providing Guiding.

No matter how crazy Joo Seung-hyuk was, would he really go this far just to mock someone he disliked?

Furthermore, he had given me his card and cash. Of course, ten million won might be nothing to a chaebol, but giving a card carried a different kind of weight.

Could it be that the original plot has changed because the protagonists’ first meeting was derailed…?

Originally, Joo Seung-hyuk and Kim Joon were supposed to meet at the freshmen welcome party.

In The Swamp of the Guide, Kim Joon attends the welcome party with a fluttering heart. However, he is openly ignored for being an F-Rank Guide, and eventually, a senior pours champagne over his head.

Seeing his own childhood reflected unauthorized copyin that sight, Joo unauthorized copySeung-hyuk unauthorized copyblows away the senior Esper on the spot and leaves the party.

Kim Joon follows him out to express his gratitude, but Joo Seung-hyuk gets into his car without a word.

That was their first meeting as written in the original work. But in reality, on that day, Joo Seung-hyuk had a sexual encounter with me.

Moreover, according to Ji-hee noona, the party fizzled out shortly after we left.

She said there was no bullying of freshmen or champagne being poured.

The original plot had changed.

But I didn’t care much.

In truth, Joo Seung-hyuk hadn’t helped Kim Joon. He had simply seen the Esper bullying Kim Joon, thought of his own brother, and exploded in irritation.

If anything, Joo Seung-hyuk viewed Kim Joon—who attended such an event despite being F-Rank only to be humiliated—as an incompetent and foolish human being.

Joo Seung-hyuk only began to truly care for Kim Joon from their second meeting onward. So, I thought that even if the first meeting differed from the original, it wouldn’t matter as long as the second meeting happened properly.

There would be the Original Plot Constraint, after all.

But what if that’s not the case?

What if everything changed the moment I slept with Joo Seung-hyuk on the day the original story was supposed to begin? What if Joo Seung-hyuk’s object of obsession has shifted from Kim Joon to me… what on earth would I do then…?

Scenes from the original work flashed before my eyes like a kaleidoscope.

Inside a hard and powerful “trash can,” Kim Joon realizes his sexual preferences and finds his own kind of affection and stability.

But not me.

Whether it was cozy or cold, I hated the idea of a trash can.

“Yeon-soo.”

“Uh, yeah…”

Ji-hee noona shook my shoulder. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at her.

“What were you thinking about that you didn’t even notice the lecture ended?”

“Ah, just… something was a bit difficult.”

Since I couldn’t reveal the story of the original work, I gave a vague excuse.

“Yeon-soo, let’s talk for a moment.”

She spoke while scanning the surroundings. Although the lecture was over, many students still remained in the classroom.

Since I also had things to say, I stood up from my seat.

“Noona, I’m sorry.”

As soon as we entered an empty classroom next door, I apologized to Ji-hee noona.

When I checked my phone this morning, there was a mountain of missed calls and messages. They were all from her.

Although we had a brief phone call after I arrived at the dormitory, she must have been very worried.

“Sorry for what? I’m the one who’s sorry.”

“No. Why would you be sorry?”

“I heard it from Ji-hoon oppa. That mercenary bastard was hitting on you. Oppa should have stopped him; I’m really sorry. How can he even run a guild when he can’t protect a single person? He’s such a pathetic human.”

“Don’t be too hard on him. Ji-hoon hyung must have been flustered because that man acted so suddenly.”

That mercenary was particularly obnoxious, but I hadn’t taken on a Guiding part-time job without expecting that level of trouble.

Sexual issues occurred frequently even in systematically managed corporations or centers; it went without saying for mercenaries.

“There’s nothing to understand. Park Ji-hoon is an A-Class for heaven’s sake; could he really not handle a B-Class mercenary? That mercenary bastard must have some influence in the mercenary world. That’s why he couldn’t be firm. He starts a guild claiming he’ll break the corporate monopoly, but then he just walks on eggshells around mercenaries. Idiot.”

She gnashed her teeth. She seemed disillusioned not only with the mercenary but also with Ji-hoon hyung and the guild.

“Noona, are you okay?”

“What do you mean?”

“Aren’t you… mad at me…?”

“Why would I be mad at you?”

“I messed up the Guiding, and I broke the door…”

“How can you even say that? You’re the victim, why do you care about that? Honestly, you’re too kind for your own good.”

“Still… wasn’t it troublesome because the mercenary got hurt?”

Since the mercenary’s arm had been blown off in the Guiding Room, the Changwi Guild must have been bewildered.

However, noona replied nonchalantly.

“Not really. Joo Seung-hyuk handled everything.”

“Joo Seung-hyuk?”

“Yeah. Someone from his side came, took the mercenary away, and paid for the repairs. He even gave extra for the guild uniform and the buttons. Joo Seung-hyuk is strange. Why give money for buttons separately? Does he like buttons?”

“…I don’t think so.”

Did he give money for buttons because I mentioned it? He surely doesn’t think I’m actually a button enthusiast…

“Anyway, the Seong Han Group is certainly generous. The money for the buttons alone would be enough to build a new Guiding Room.”

It seemed Joo Seung-hyuk had provided proper compensation. At least now I could face Ji-hee noona.

“That’s a relief.”

“What’s so relieving? Lee Yeon-soo, you’re just too gentle.”

Ji-hee noona smiled and handed me a white envelope.

“What’s this?”

“It’s the compensation money Joo Seung-hyuk gave. You were almost in danger because of our mistake; how could I have the nerve to take this? Take it back.”

“Just take it. The door broke too.”

I spoke, recalling the door that had been crumpled like a piece of paper by Joo Seung-hyuk.

“On the contrary, I received help from Joo Seung-hyuk. He did what Park Ji-hoon should have done.”

Noona was right. Although his method was somewhat violent, Joo Seung-hyuk had stopped me from being molested.

“Then give it back to Joo Seung-hyuk.”

“I tried to. But he said he wouldn’t take it. Joo Seung-hyuk’s secretary told me that if I really wanted to return it, I should just keep it.”

“To me?”

“Yeah.”

Not Joo Seung-hyuk, but his secretary said that? Does that mean the secretary also knows about the relationship between me and Joo Seung-hyuk?

The hypothesis that the main uke might have changed after our first encounter felt more realistic.

While I was engulfed in fear, Ji-hee noona slipped the envelope into my coat pocket.

“Noona!”

“You return it. By the way, what’s going on between you and Joo Seung-hyuk?”

“That’s…”

Since Joo Seung-hyuk had suddenly barged in and caused such a scene, it was natural for her to be curious.

I knew she would ask, but I didn’t know how to answer.

“Did you make up with Joo Seung-hyuk?”

“Huh?”

“Joo Seung-hyuk bought those clothes for you, didn’t he?”

She seemed to have noticed that my clothes were different from usual. She had a keen eye.

“Yeah…”

“Did you completely make up?”

“When did we even fight, to make up?”

We had never fought. Until our first encounter, we had barely exchanged any proper conversation.

At most, we had only exchanged formal greetings.

“Honestly, you were practically enemies. Because you rejected Joo Seung-hyuk’s exclusive contract.”

“I didn’t reject it. I gave it up because I was too lacking.”

To think I rejected the obsessive yandere. What terrifying words.

Of course, I did reject him, but I wanted to avoid it being known in that way.

Whenever people talked about this, I actively clarified it.

“If you’re lacking, then every Guide in South Korea should just quit.”

“I’m serious. Like I said unauthorized copybefore, my skills weren’t enough. [unauthorized copy]Esteemed Student Joo Seung-hyuk is a special person. [visit our site]I really was insufficient.”

“Honestly, you’re too humble.”

“It’s not humility…”

“Anyway, you’re close now, right?”

She cut me off with a smile, as if telling me she understood and to stop now.

“That’s…”

Close? My foot.

“What exactly is the relationship between you two?”

Immediately after, a more explicit question flew in.

“……”

We are nothing to each other.

But after all that chaos at the guild and appearing in clothes Joo Seung-hyuk bought, there was no way she would believe such a claim.

While I was hesitating on how to respond, a low voice was heard from behind.

“Why can’t you answer?”

This voice, surely… I slowly turned my head. In that moment, my eyes met those of a strikingly handsome man.

Joo Seung-hyuk strode forward and wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

“Hello, Senior Park.”

“Oh. Hi.”

Joo Seung-hyuk greeted Ji-hee noona and took my hand.

I wanted to pull away immediately, but I couldn’t because the original plot came to mind.

The more Kim Joon rejected him, the more fiercely stolen contentJoo [visit our site]Seung-hyuk’s obsession and possessiveness stolen contentignited. If I messed up here, I might trigger the obsessive madman’s switch.

Of course, that was the story of the main uke, Kim Joon, and as the villainous sub-uke of the original, it shouldn’t apply to me, but I still felt uneasy.

“My brother is in your debt. Thank you.”

“No, I’m the one who received a lot of help from Yeon-soo.”

But something was strange about the conversation.

Joo Seung-hyuk, why are you thanking her on my behalf?

Startled, I looked at Joo Seung-hyuk, and he gave a thin smile and kissed my cheek.

“Ah, I have something urgent, so I’ll be going.”

Seeing this, Ji-hee noona looked shocked and hurriedly tried to leave.

“Noona!”

“Have a great date.”

I called out urgently, but she winked as if she knew everything and walked out of the classroom.

No. Noona, it’s not like that.

I wanted to chase after her immediately and clear up that damn misunderstanding. However, because a chilling mana was flowing from Joo Seung-hyuk, I froze on the spot.

“Lee Yeon-soo, why aren’t you answering? Why are you hiding what we are to each other?”

Perhaps because his mood had soured, Joo Seung-hyuk’s tone became curt.

The Joo Seung-hyuk of the original work was an obsessive yandere who imprisoned people as if it were a daily routine. If I said the wrong thing here, I might end up imprisoned.
