32 – It’s So Unfair

Chapter 32: Truly Unfair

No matter how angry he was, when Monday arrived, He Yu eventually shouldered his bag on one side and headed to the adjacent university building to knock on the door.

The professor sitting by the door spoke.

“Come in.”

He Yu greeted him politely.

“Hello. I’m here to see Professor Xie.”

“Xie Qingcheng, your student.”

He Yu was slightly surprised when Xie Qingcheng stepped out of the office. It was because, for some reason, Xie Qingcheng was wearing glasses.

He didn’t recall him wearing glasses before.

“Your timing is perfect,” Xie Qingcheng said straightforwardly. “Come in.”

He Yu unconsciously scanned Xie Qingcheng in his glasses. He looked quite stolen contentdashing. The cold atmosphere seemed to have softened a bit. He looked like he was advertising himself as unauthorized copya scholar with his entire body, but it wasn’t a bad look.

Unfortunately, however, the moment Xie Qingcheng opened his mouth, he rubbed He Yu the wrong way.

“I want you to make a lecture PPT using these materials. Convert the rest of the documents into electronic files. They are documents related to medical data, and I just don’t trust computer programs. Errors keep popping up every time I try to convert images to text. So, type them in one by one by hand and cross-check to make sure there are no mistakes. Do I make myself clear?”

He Yu stared at the mountain of medical texts piled on his desk. He thought that at that thickness, they could be used as murder weapons.

“Professor Xie, I don’t think you realize that science and technology can liberate humanity.”

Xie Qingcheng slammed a copy of General Psychology and Social Psychology down in front of him, causing the desk and computer monitor to vibrate.

“Of course, I also know that humans shouldn’t rely too heavily on science and technology. Enough talk, get to work. Start from where I’ve marked with the red pen.”

The two major textbooks, thick as bricks, were packed with sticky notes. Because of this, the already thick books were bulging as if they were about to burst. Even while staring at this sight, He Yu maintained his composure as much as possible. After all, this was Xie Qingcheng’s office, and other professors hadn’t left for the day yet. Assessing the situation, he spoke in a low, suppressed voice.

“Are you trying to kill me right now?”

“No. I am tempering your persistence and mental strength.”

Standing beside him, Xie Qingcheng took a sip of his coffee.

“…….”

“It’s not even a difficult request. Be thorough.”

Xie Qingcheng tossed He Yu an energy drink, turned around, and returned to his work.

He Yu’s almond-shaped eyes narrowed.

He turned on Xie Qingcheng’s computer. The mouse cursor paused for a moment over the Word icon. A shadow fell across his pupils, hidden behind long eyelashes.

“Let’s see….”

It is a matter of common sense that the personal computers and phones of men in their thirties, like Xie Qingcheng, hide secret files. To avoid ‘social death,’ these gentlemen not only set passwords and secret folders on their phones and computers but also avoid lending their private belongings to others.

However, Xie Qingcheng was indifferent to such things.

The computer he had given He Yu was his personal one. He Yu, a top-tier hacker in every sense of the word, began digging through the folders with the ulterior motive of uncovering Xie Qingcheng’s weakness. But to his surprise, despite finishing the entire can of energy drink, he found nothing. He had expected to find at least a few videos.

Skeptical, He Yu changed the code and combed through the computer like searching for lice. The result was the same.

Xie Qingcheng’s personal computer was clean and honest. The only files were academic materials and pay stubs. It was a computer so clean it was almost abnormal.

He Yu frowned and leaned back deeply into the office chair. While rolling the stolen contentempty can with his slender fingers, he pondered for a [visit our site]moment, then changed the code again and hit the Enter key.

This time, he found a file that Xie Qingcheng frequently used around the time he left work. It smelled so suspicious that the folder name itself was ‘Happiness.’

True to his nature as a ‘man’s man,’ Xie Qingcheng had named his folders absurdly simply. Important documents were named ‘Material 1’ and ‘Material 2,’ and unimportant ones were left with the system’s default names. Perhaps he found it too tedious to even move his fingers to rename them, as ‘New Folder’ stretched all the way to number 23.

So, the moment the ‘Happiness’ folder—which was completely out of character for Xie Qingcheng—appeared, He Yu’s eyes sparkled, and he snapped awake, straightening his back. Concentrating all his attention on the monitor, he moved the cursor over the yellow folder icon and double-clicked.

The folder opened.

The moment he scanned the folder, He Yu’s excited expression instantly flattened, and his brow furrowed. He couldn’t fathom Xie Qingcheng’s intention.

Inside that ‘Happiness’ folder were a few photos of freshwater jellyfish.

Since there were other videos, he opened them, only to find they were filled with jellyfish from all over the world. From Aurelia jellyfish to octopus jellyfish, various jellyfish fluttered in all sorts of poses. There was even a video lasting an hour. He dragged the playback bar back several times to check the content, but in every section, the jellyfish were simply floating like smoke.

“…….”

So, watching these jellyfish videos is Xie Qingcheng’s happiness?

They were certainly beautiful videos. The ancient creatures floating in the water were fantastic, like mist sunk deep in the ocean or the reflection of the moon on the water. However, unable to understand such an old-fashioned hobby, He Yu closed the video and returned to the desktop.

He was still frustrated, but even as he rested his cheek on his [Read on Read BL Novels]hand and searched through [unauthorized copy]different [visit our site]programs, the world inside Xie Qingcheng’s personal computer remained as white as fallen snow. He Yu finally threw the mouse and waved the white flag.

How does it make sense for a normal man to have no desires at all….

He Yu thought blankly while fiddling with the empty can.

As his gaze repeatedly drifted toward the computer monitor, a thought occurred to him. Xie Qingcheng really is a human without emotions. He was born with such a cold personality.

If the opponent is such a cold person, he had no choice but to choose another method.

He Yu finally gave up on his plan to find erotic videos on Xie Qingcheng’s computer. Licking his canine tooth with the tip of his soft tongue, he brought back the focus to his vacant eyes.

It was because another idea had occurred to him.

The next day.

Xie Qingcheng’s lecture started in the afternoon. He Yu, who happened to have free time, took the class materials he had converted into electronic files and stopped by the medical school to sit in the back row of the multimedia lecture hall and crash the class.

When He Yu said he wanted to attend the lecture, Xie Qingcheng’s reaction was quite negative.

—Why is a directing student making a fuss about attending a psychiatry lecture?

He Yu answered very elegantly.

—Hyung. I’m originally a psychopath.

—…….

—I’m the one who made the PPT last night, so if any problems arise, I can solve them on the spot. Right?

After thinking it over, Xie Qingcheng eventually agreed to He Yu’s request.

However, the moment He Yu entered the classroom, Xie Qingcheng slightly regretted it. He had forgotten that He Yu was acquainted with the female students who had been on the list last time. The female students majoring in psychiatry widened their eyes upon seeing He Yu and welcomed him with bright smiles they didn’t usually show.

“Oh my, what brings you here?”

He Yu responded with a wave of his hand and then placed his index finger in front of his lips, signaling them to be quiet and pointing toward Xie Qingcheng on the podium.

The female student lowered her voice, said “Ah!” and nodded. Having perfectly understood He Yu’s meaning, she then turned back to the podium with a serious expression and focused on the lecture.

Sitting in the window seat of the back row, He Yu dropped his bag, leaned his arms back, took off the headphones he had been wearing the whole way, and looked at Xie Qingcheng.

It was a very intentional, performative action. Look at this, I’m so good. No matter how difficult the professor’s lecture is, I will listen attentively out of respect for him.

Of course, Xie Qingcheng could only roll his eyes at this hypocritical display.

Xie Qingcheng placed the textbook on the podium table and shifted his gaze, speaking with a fierce expression.

“What are you all looking at? Is this the first time you’ve seen someone from another school come to a lecture?”

Overwhelmed by Professor Xie’s overbearing atmosphere, the students couldn’t bring themselves to speak and only exchanged glances.

It really is the first time.

Unless it’s an idol campus romance drama where students from different schools date.

The female students, especially those who knew He Yu, began to fall into delusions one after another. One student with a vivid imagination had already decided which hospital she would give birth in. They all hoped this handsome male student would look at them from the back row, and they elegantly adjusted their sitting postures.

And this scene was reflected clearly in the eyes of Xie Qingcheng, who stood on the podium.

Xie Qingcheng, a full professor and a patient of frigidity, felt his stomach churn at this scene. Being a born patriarchal old fogey, he didn’t blame the female students at all and only thought He Yu was the problem.

Xie Qingcheng stared at He Yu for a few seconds.

Then, he spoke coldly.

“I’m starting the lecture, so open your books. Don’t think about looking back during today’s lecture. The moment your neck [unauthorized copy]turns, that person starts with 6 points [Read on Read BL Novels]deducted from their final. Judge for yourselves.”

Silence fell over the classroom.

“…….”

He Yu, having been hit where it hurt, lowered his head and laughed softly.

He had thought Xie Xue was quite foolish for threatening students during class, but now he felt he understood where that foolishness came from.

Looking at it now, it was all learned from Xie Qingcheng.

“According to CCMD-3, 1), mental disorders include manic episodes, depressive episodes, bipolar disorder, cyclothymic disorder, and malignant psychological disorders….”

As soon as he began the lecture, Xie Qingcheng started by checking the assignments he had given the students yesterday. While many college students spend four years enjoying a leisurely campus life, sacrificing their youth to shabby dormitory beds, medical students never fell into this category. In effect, they had to experience the agony of their ‘senior year of high school’ for at least five years.

Even though it was an ordinary assignment, Xie Qingcheng’s explanatory lecture continued for a long time. The volume of the assignment seemed to be enormous.

The crashing student, He Yu, listened to the lecture surprisingly quietly. Aware that he was an unwelcome guest, he sat in the corner of the back seat with his arms crossed, watching Xie Qingcheng.

His attitude of threatening students was identical to Xie Xue’s, but his teaching style was quite different. While Xie Xue tried to brighten the classroom atmosphere by continuing the lecture in a lively tone, Xie Qingcheng almost ignored the students.

Even while standing tall on the podium, he had an aura as if [stolen content]he didn’t belong to this world. Reality felt like a world unrelated to him. As if half-submerged [unauthorized copy]in a virtual space, it felt as though tangible knowledge data was floating behind his back.

He was, by all accounts, a professor pursuing pure academicism. A professor who didn’t painstakingly transfer knowledge to students, but didn’t force academic study upon them either. Rather, Xie Qingcheng was noble, like a guide who had leisurely walked out of the temple of knowledge. His slender fingertips were stained with ink, and the scent of books wafted from his calm lips. From his expression of near-trance concentration, an aristocratic atmosphere could even be felt.

The fact that students were learning the subject was not important to him. Whether they focused on him or not was none of his business. His presence on the podium was, in itself, the most perfect interpretation of ‘knowledge.’

It wouldn’t have been strange at all if Xie Qingcheng had suddenly said:

‘The Great One has descended to the human realm to bestow knowledge upon the students, so all shall kneel and be grateful.’

Thinking this, He Yu looked at the man on the podium who had fallen into the world of medicine with an indifferent expression.

“Now, let’s stop checking yesterday’s assignments here. Everyone, lift your heads and look at the screen.”

At these words, He Yu snapped back to attention.

He Yu’s eyes looked up. Uncrossing his arms, he interlaced his fingers on the desk and leaned forward slightly.

It was a posture filled with a strange sense of anticipation.

Even though he was in no position to look forward to Xie Qingcheng’s lecture.

Unfortunately, Professor Xie was a master of arrogance. [unauthorized copy]There was even less reason to give attention [stolen content]to the idiot visit our sitewho had come to crash the lecture. In his effort to ignore He Yu, he missed the faint tension flickering on He Yu’s face.

He turned on the computer, connected to the Wi-Fi, and pressed the power button on the projector. Amidst the pouring attention of the students, the mouse cursor moved over the PowerPoint file named ‘Material 1′ that He Yu had created.

Double click.

The lecture file opened.

Xie Qingcheng looked up without even checking the projector screen.

“Today’s lecture topic is hallucinations. We will be learning about somatic hallucinations, true hallucinations, and pseudo-hallucinations….”

While he was focusing on the lecture for a while, a male student sitting in the front row lowered his head and burst into a snicker. Sensing the subtle atmosphere, Xie Qingcheng frowned without looking at the PPT screen and asked the fearless male student.

“What is it?”

This time, it wasn’t just that one male student who couldn’t hold back his laughter.

“Professor Xie, the PPT materials….”

Only then did Xie Qingcheng realize something was wrong and look back.

The dean, who was deeply interested in the students’ academic progress, [unauthorized copy][stolen content]had painstakingly upgraded the classroom equipment. Thanks to that, the newly replaced multimedia [visit our site]classroom projector projected the PPT screen largely and clearly.

A cute colony of jellyfish made with computer graphics. They looked quite adorable, like miniature jellyfish.

Furthermore, maddeningly, these jellyfish were attached as moving GIF files. The innocent jellyfish fairies were moving in a loop, accompanied by phrases like ‘I’m pouting!’, ‘I’m dying!’, and ‘I won’t play with you!’

The crossing-the-line, childish screen delivered a massive shock. Xie Qingcheng’s breath caught for a moment. He unconsciously wanted to take out a cigarette from his pocket to suppress this shock.

Unable to bear it, He Yu half-lowered his head, avoiding his gaze, and laughed with his shoulders shaking slightly.

Xie Qingcheng turned his head in anger. The culprit, who had been leaning leisurely against the back of the chair with his eyelashes lowered, noticed the gaze. Soon, He Yu lifted his head. He didn’t seem to have any intention of hiding the faint smile on his lips.

This audacious brat….

Xie Qingcheng’s gaze seemed to pierce right through He Yu and nail him to the back of the chair.

Xie Qingcheng wasn’t the type to admit in front of students that he had outsourced the PPT production. Thinking this, He Yu unclasped his fingers. With a smiling face and raised eyebrows, he tapped the screen of the phone he had placed on the desk.

I sent a message, so check it—it was a blatant signal to Xie Qingcheng.

“…….”

With a complexion darker [Read on Read BL Novels]than could be imagined, Xie Qingcheng returned to the [visit our site]front of the unauthorized copypodium and turned off the PPT.

“I mistook the file. Wait a moment.”

It was very rare to see Professor Xie suffer such a mishap. Moreover, for it to be such a childish and low-quality mishap. If Xie Qingcheng hadn’t been such a scary professor, the room would have become a sea of laughter long ago. It was burdensome enough to struggle to hold back laughter; they had no room to notice the strong undercurrent flowing between the student from the other school and the professor.

Xie Qingcheng checked his phone with a shadowed face.

Sure enough, a notification for a message sent by He Yu a few moments ago was there.

[Shall I give you the real file?]

[What do you want.]

[The other person is typing…….]

Xie Qingcheng waited for He Yu’s reply.

[The other person is typing…….]

His patience was on the verge of running out. Xie Qingcheng passed by the students who were struggling to hold back their laughter and cast his gaze toward the young man who was leaning elegantly in his chair, tapping his phone.

Was he doing this by deliberately targeting a weakness? He was simply dragging out visit our site[Read on Read BL Novels]Professor Xie’s embarrassing ‘social death.’ Completely ignoring the other, he used his long stolen contentfingers to tap the screen, typing letters, deleting them, typing again, and deleting them once more.

He looked as if he were sincerely pondering what conditions would be best for exchanging the file.

Meanwhile, the black intentions of a beast in human skin were clearly revealed in his mischievously raised eyebrows.

Just as Xie Qingcheng, unable to endure the tug-of-war, approached He Yu to rap on the desk, a reply finally flew in.

Xie Qingcheng quickly pressed the vibrating phone screen.

[You remember I sold my clothes second-hand, right?]

“…….”

[Deposit five thousand yuan. Then I’ll fix the file for you.]

“…….”

[Just so you know, I’ve set your computer to automatically play some low-grade videos in ten minutes. Of course, forcing a system shutdown won’t work. I’ll leave the decision to you, Professor. I might raise the price in a few minutes.]

After sending the reply, the hacker put away their secret means of communication, all while countless eyes were watching.

He then leaned back comfortably in stolen contenthis chair, resting his Read on Read BL Novelselbows on the backrest and propping the unauthorized copyback of his head with one hand.

He Yu looked up and gave a subtle nod toward the projector so that others wouldn’t notice. With his other hand, he lightly tugged at his collar, wearing a smile that was both innocent and sinister.

“…….”

Staring at He Yu with a murderous expression, Xie Qingcheng slowly gripped his phone and opened the internet banking app. Gritting his teeth, he typed in the number five thousand.

One second later.

The phone He Yu had placed on the desk vibrated.

He lowered his eyelids, hiding his beautiful eyes as he confirmed the deposit of five thousand yuan into his account.

Soon, he stood up. True to his reputation as a veteran actor who had delivered masterful performances in some damn low-budget drama, he stepped up to the podium while pretending to be worried about Xie Qingcheng.

“I’m sorry, Professor Xie. I think I saved the files incorrectly while backing up your sister’s computer data onto yours yesterday. I am truly sorry.”

Having received his payment, student He Yu carefully gathered the fragments of Professor Xie’s dignity scattered across the floor and began operating Xie Qingcheng’s laptop.

Before long, he found the original PPT lecture file that had been properly prepared in a folder.

He Yu politely stepped aside and gestured for Xie Qingcheng to take his place.

“Here you go, Professor.”

And so, the lecture material incident ended quietly, once again in He Yu’s victory.

Of course, throughout the rest of the lecture, Xie Qingcheng’s complexion was gloomier than the storm clouds on the day of the apocalypse. It felt as if rain would pour down at any moment and engulf the entire building. His gaze was cold, as if mixed with shards of ice.

He Yu did not doubt for a second that if that gaze could materialize, his body would have been turned into a honeycomb long ago.

But “if” was just an “if.” He Yu wore a despicable smile unseen by others, taking the full force of Xie Qingcheng’s blade-like glare with his entire body.

“……That is all for today’s lecture.”

In the end, Xie Qingcheng ended this godforsaken PPT class five minutes early. It was a relief that nothing else had gone wrong aside from the initial jellyfish incident.

“I will post this assignment on the department intranet, so make sure everyone downloads it when you go back.”

Feeling much more at ease, Professor Xie closed the lecture file, opened the web browser, typed in the school’s internet address, and cheerfully pressed the Enter key.

And a few seconds later.

[Massive resources available for download, over [stolen content]1 million real-life photos, hot videos, website address: Read on Read BL Novelshttp: shenheyuan.kanbuchuwangzhishijiade.yebuzhidaoshizenzaishenhede.xiaosidiele.]

Simultaneously, a chaotic advertising pop-up window appeared on the projector screen. A woman in provocative clothing was seducing the students from the screen.

The students, whose eyes had been assaulted unexpectedly, fell into a deathly silence.

Xie Qingcheng whipped his head around.

“…….”

How could this be so unfair.

This time, it really wasn’t He Yu’s doing.
