Chapter 74 – 74
Melione, who stepped out of the carriage first, reached out his hand toward Euro. Recalling the time they had gone to the opera theater, Euro burst into laughter.
“Don’t tell me you were looking forward to this?”
Euro took Melione’s hand and stepped down from the carriage.
“Do you feel any nausea?”
“No, I’m fine.”
“No dizziness or headaches?”
“That’s the question I usually ask.”
Melione naturally linked arms with Euro, observing his complexion. He was concerned about Euro’s condition, as he had been bedridden for three consecutive days.
However, Euro had been unable to hide his excitement throughout the carriage ride. It was only after 7 o’clock that the sun finally began to set and the day grew dark.
The streets, dyed in the colors of the sunset, were bustling with the heat of the festival. Euro couldn’t take his eyes off the scenery unfolding outside the window, and Melione followed his gaze, looking at the lamps decorating the streets.
Silon’s festival was incredibly beautiful. Laughter filled every corner to the point that it would have been a [stolen content]great regret to miss it, and the people were brimming with vitality.
Not just the downtown area, but the entire city was enjoying the festival, soaking in the scent of spring that wafted through the air. As evidence, the large ships docked at the harbor occasionally sounded meaningless whistles.
“You aren’t feeling sick or uncomfortable anywhere, are you?”
“No, I’m fine.”
At Euro’s question, Melione nodded readily. Peaceful days had continued to the point where it felt as if he had never been that ill, and he remained in a state of health that surprised even himself.
As Euro and Melione stepped out of the carriage and blended into the crowded downtown streets, gasps of admiration erupted from all sides. Their attire wasn’t much different from those enjoying the festival, so the cause seemed to be Melione’s face.
‘I guess so. A long-haired man appearing half-naked.’
Euro wasn’t particularly surprised by the lingering gazes. Even if the body became healthy, innate nature does not change.
Sensitive to the material of clothes and the shape of collars, he had chosen something very thin and flowy for the spring festival.
Most people in Silon—or rather, almost everyone enjoying the spring festival—wore clothes of similar materials, but few wore something so overtly thin.
The women were all in light dresses, and following the tradition of the festival, they were all white. However, the small details and designs varied, making them a pleasure to look at.
In comparison, the men’s clothing was somewhat monotonous. Euro wore a top with a collar close to a Mandarin collar from his original world, with a slightly scooped neckline and no buttons.
Compared to Melione’s shirt, which had a deep plunge at the chest and was tied with strings instead of buttons, Euro’s looked [visit our site]somewhat plain. However, it was an uncommon design that unauthorized copyEuro had requested by drawing a picture for Diena.
It wasn’t that he particularly disliked exposure, but rather a conclusion reached because Euro originally preferred simple designs. In fact, standing next to Melione, it seemed like a good choice.
“Now, please tell me.”
“Tell you what?”
Melione, who had been walking with an expressionless face despite the pouring gazes, suddenly asked Euro.
“What you said in the carriage earlier. That there was another reason you wanted to come to the festival.”
“Ah, that. Actually, it’s nothing much.”
“…….”
“Or maybe it is something big.”
Indeed, it was a story that would cause an uproar the moment it was announced. The only reason Euro thought it was “nothing much” was that he was the one who had designed the whole thing.
“You know that I’ve been collecting the Relics of Yanli, right?”
At Euro’s question, Melione nodded. At first, he had sent Dent to the auction houses under the pretext of collecting books, but that alone wasn’t enough.
Since then, he had begun purchasing the Relics of Yanli from other [visit our site]collectors, [stolen content]so Melione must have noticed. It was somewhat unauthorized copysurprising that Melione hadn’t asked why he was spending so much money to collect such trash.
“Those relics will shine today. There’s one Relic of Yanli in the annex, the one I got from the Captain. Until now, it might have been a white elephant that ruined the aesthetics, but that will change after today.”
“Are you saying you collected them on purpose?”
“Yes. I happened to discover a very interesting fact. It’s a secret that no one knows but me.”
“…….”
“Now Your Excellency… no, you, Melione, know it too.”
“Is it alright for me to be the first to know?”
“Of course. Since you’re my husband, you should naturally know before anyone else.”
Having called him ‘husband’ with his own mouth, Euro felt suddenly shy and reached out toward one of the lined-up street stalls.
“I skipped dinner, so I feel a bit peckish. Can I buy and eat one of those sausages?”
“Go ahead.”
Once Melione gave his permission, Euro released the hand that had been holding his arm and headed toward the stall. Melione looked down at his arm with a somewhat blank expression. He felt a strange sense of emptiness.
Returning with an excited face, [stolen content]Euro soon came back [Read on Read BL Novels]with two sausages, one in each hand. He [stolen content]then asked Melione, who was standing there blankly.
“Do you want one?”
“Must I eat it?”
“No, if you want to eat, I’ll have to buy more.”
“…….”
“If you don’t want to eat, please hold one for me instead.”
Euro abruptly held out a sausage, and Melione took it instinctively. Then, smiling, Euro rested one hand on Melione’s arm and lifted a sausage with the other hand to take a bite.
“There were treasures inside the Relics of Yanli.”
“……Treasures?”
“Yes, real gold and silver. Lots of jewels and plenty of gold coins. It seems they were intentionally made to look ugly to store them.”
As Euro said this, he devoured one sausage in an instant. He then snapped the skewer and tossed it into a nearby trash can.
Seeing this, Melione handed over the sausage he was holding, and Euro took it with a smile.
“I noticed they were strangely [stolen content]heavy, so I just broke one open. I found it odd that a statue would [unauthorized copy]be so heavy that several people would have to lift it.”
“…….”
“Honestly, if the price had been high, I wouldn’t have thought of it, but since they weren’t expensive, I felt like breaking them. Though it was all Melione’s money.”
The fact that they weren’t “expensive” was also because the amount of money he received from Melione was enormous. Furthermore, it was a choice he could make because he already knew from a book that there were treasures inside.
“The budget allocated to my spouse belongs entirely to my spouse. It does not matter if you buy more expensive things and break them as you please.”
“Hey, I still can’t do that. It’s not money I earned.”
“It is curious. That you thought to break them without any certainty.”
“I’ve always had a strong sense of challenge. Buying the Relics of Yanli, which no one else wanted, was a kind of adventure in itself.”
“Did you want to make money?”
At Melione’s question, Euro nodded and finished the remaining sausage. As he looked around to throw away the skewer, Melione snatched the skewer from Euro’s hand.
“Discard it.”
He quietly handed the skewer to the knight following behind them, and Euro turned his head and said,
“Thanks.”
Melione gazed intently at Euro, who was thanking the knight.
“Why did you want to make money?”
“It’s not that I wanted to make money, but rather…”
“…….”
“I just hated doing nothing.”
While his intention had been to make money, Euro shrugged as if it weren’t. It was an action taken with a clear purpose, but it was something he couldn’t explain to Melione.
“Anyway, you don’t seem very surprised. Looking at the statue in the annex, I think the amount of treasure inside is quite substantial. Don’t you feel it’s a waste that you left it alone all this time?”
“Not really. I have no intention of breaking it anyway.”
“What? Why?”
“I never intended to break it in the first place, and now that I know the truth, I have even less desire to do so. I’m not even curious about what specifically is inside.”
“Something truly amazing could come out. I even found a necklace that looked incredibly precious.”
“…….”
“A tiara might come out of that statue. It would be worth an enormous amount…”
“Whatever comes out, it holds no great meaning for me.”
At Melione’s words, Euro fell silent. It seemed he believed that since he was soon to die, he didn’t need money or anything else.
That must be why he found Euro’s attempt to collect money questionable. He likely thought there would be no particular place to spend any money earned.
“I guess so. Opening it now wouldn’t have much meaning. It might actually be better to leave it in a state of curiosity.”
“…….”
“Because after today, everyone will be wandering around searching for statues and smashing them with hammers as soon as they find them. It might be more valuable in its intact state.”
Of course, no matter how hard they looked, there would be no more Relics of Yanli. At least, every relic that had been circulating within Silon was now in Euro’s hands.
“Still, let’s go watch together. To see what actually comes out of Yanli’s statue. Seeing it with your own eyes will be much more dramatic than just hearing about it.”
Having reached the central fountain, Euro pointed toward the stage. On the elaborately erected temporary stage, Captain Elon stood with a hammer in one hand, his expression fraught with tension.
