Chapter 27 – 27
He was completely drained. It was the result of alternating verbal spats with a dragon and a Duke—two people who were, without exception, utterly useless to his life.
‘No, the dragon is actually somewhat helpful. The one who’s useless is that crazy Duke.’
Because he had cried his eyes out, a headache that felt as if his eyeballs were popping out surged through him. Perhaps because he had been stripped of all moisture, his entire body felt parched.
He had no energy left and just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep his fill, but since the wedding was tomorrow, he didn’t have the time.
Madam Diena visited the Dukedom with the completed wedding attire at the appointed time. The two white suits were identical, save for the details of the shirts.
“Your Highness.”
At Raymond’s call, Euro turned his head, and Raymond handed him a cloth pouch filled with ice.
Since Euro’s face was terribly swollen and he kept pressing his temples due to the headache, Raymond seemed to have prepared it.
“Thanks.”
Answering in a hoarse voice, Euro placed the ice pack over his eyes. Only the clinking sound of ice filled the silent drawing room.
Melione’s statement that he had no intention of calling off the stolen contentwedding was sincere. As a [visit our site]result, the two of them sat together in the drawing room to receive Madam Diena.
To be honest, “receiving” her was a stretch. Having just had a fierce argument in the second-floor hallway, the atmosphere between the two was colder than the ice in the pouch, and Diena, who visited the Dukedom with a beaming smile, felt as if she were sitting on a bed of nails.
The timing was just wretched. It seemed the couple, facing this rushed marriage, had happened to have a marital spat right before the wedding clothes arrived.
“As for the clothes… would Your Highness like to try them on first?”
Madam Diena wanted to bolt out of the Dukedom immediately, claiming she had urgent business, but since the money she had received was not a small amount, she did her best to maintain a professional smile.
Because Euro’s face was covered by the pouch, he couldn’t see Diena’s expression, but he could imagine it just from the slight tremor in her voice.
‘I’m not even curious about the wedding clothes; I should have just stayed holed up in the office as usual.’
Euro grumbled inwardly. Everything that happened today was the same. It would have been fine if he had just stayed inside as he always did.
Why on earth did that man come to visit him, trying to find something out, and scratch at his nerves? In his heart, he wanted to go back to his room, saying he wasn’t in the mood to try on clothes, but Diena was innocent.
Given the limited time, she must have made the clothes without proper sleep, only to be met with this sight upon arrival. The most unpleasant person here was Diena, swept up in a wretched atmosphere she didn’t ask for.
Since there was no way that sensitive man would be the first to raise his hand and offer to try them on, Euro put down the ice pack and opened his eyes.
He’d just put them on quickly and say he liked them. It wasn’t a marriage he was doing out of love, so the clothes didn’t matter. Just as he was about to tell Diena he would dress first, Euro snapped back to his senses.
‘The medicine.’
In the scuffle with the Duke, he hadn’t been able to hide the medicine in his inner pocket. If he took off his clothes to change, the servants would surely find it, and it would be troublesome if they reported it directly to the Duke.
He didn’t know what would happen if the man—who had been sobbing and claiming he had no ulterior motive and did it all out of love—was found to have bought things like sleeping pills and love drugs.
‘Seriously, nothing goes right because of that bastard.’
Euro bit his lower lip. Love drugs and sleeping pills were suspicious items that were difficult to explain away.
Of course, they wouldn’t recognize them the moment they saw them. However, once discovered, it was only a matter of time before they realized what they were. No, he might even be killed without question before they even figured out what the medicine was.
‘Should I just pretend to be a total pervert?’
Pretending to be crazy wasn’t a bad idea. Since he was destined to die anyway, if he said he wanted to spend one last amazing night…
No, that’s not it. The Duke might kill him out of disgust, saying, “You filthy bastard, you cried and sobbed, but this is all that was in your head?”
“Um, so… how about…?”
The corners of Madam Diena’s forced smile trembled. She looked like she just wanted to go home. Euro understood that feeling. He would feel the same way.
Then, Melione, who had been silently keeping quiet, stood up.
“I’ll wear it.”
At those words, Euro’s eyes widened as he stared at him. However, Melione did not meet Euro’s gaze and followed Diena toward the inner part of the drawing room. A few servants followed him.
Euro stared at Melione’s back with a somewhat bewildered expression, then turned to Raymond and whispered.
“I’m going to the bathroom for a moment.”
“Yes, I understand.”
Raymond nodded without further comment, and Euro naturally stood up and slowly left the drawing room.
Then, he began to sprint across the hall. His destination was not the bathroom. Having evaporated every drop of moisture from his body, there was no way he needed to go to the bathroom.
His only destination was his room. Quickly climbing the stairs, Euro dashed toward his room without time to look around. He burst through the door with a crash, entered, and knelt before the bed.
“Seriously, what the hell am I doing…”
He had to hide the medicine and return before Melione finished changing. He pulled out the medicine bottle and the white cloth hidden inside his jacket and lay flat on the floor to hide them under the bed.
If he had known it would be like this, he shouldn’t have babbled about love while crying; he should have just asked him to sleep with him once.
When asked what he wanted, instead of saying things like “please love me,” if he had said, “Seeing you walk around in a shirt so sheer it’s practically naked, lust overcame my reason,” would things have gone better?
That he’d like to sleep with him about five times, and that he’d be more satisfied [Read on Read BL Novels]than he stolen contentthought. That he shouldn’t worry because every time they slept together, his headache stolen contentwould vanish, his body would feel refreshed, and his vitality would surge…
While lying flat on the floor indulging in these insane thoughts, Euro suddenly bolted upright. He didn’t have the luxury to be thinking such things right now.
Euro leaped out the open door and descended the stairs two or three at a time. Then, standing before the drawing room door, he tidied his disheveled hair and took a deep breath in and out.
“Ha, whew… Okay, good.”
After muttering like a mantra, Euro opened the drawing room door and stepped inside, only to freeze at the sight before him.
Silon was warm year-round. Compared to the world he had lived in, it was like a resort, with hot southern weather.
Even by those standards, today was exceptionally hot. The sun was particularly glaring in the cloudless sky, and it was so sweltering that he wanted to throw off the jacket he was wearing to hide the medicine.
The bright sunlight of the clear weather was pouring into the room through the large drawing room window. A lukewarm breeze flowed in through the open window, and the white curtains fluttered along the current of the wind.
In the center of it all stood Melione, dressed in a white suit. His blonde hair flowed long down to his waist, and he was frowning, repeatedly fiddling with the collar of the shirt buttoned up to the neck, as if it were uncomfortable.
“Oh my.”
Diena let out a small exclamation as she saw Euro enter the drawing room. The sight of him standing there with a blank face, staring at the Duke, was something she knew well.
It was an expression seen only in the moment when a couple fits their wedding dress and suit and shows them to each other for the first time. As someone who ran a dress shop, it was a common sight, but at the same time, it was a very special moment.
She looked back and forth between Euro and the Duke unauthorized copystaring at Euro, then quietly covered her mouth. The heavy air in the drawing Read on Read BL Novelsroom [Read on Read BL Novels]felt as if it had suddenly become light and buoyant.
Diena, tactfully stepping back, suppressed a laugh and stood beside Raymond, pretending not to notice. Only then did Euro, who had been standing as if frozen, slowly enter the drawing room.
Melione stared at him in silence for a long while, then narrowed his brow as Euro approached. With a strange expression, he reached out as if possessed and fiddled with his shirt collar.
“…Do you not like the clothes?”
Melione asked, but Euro did not answer. He simply quietly tidied the shirt collar protruding from the jacket, passed him, sat on the sofa, and picked up the ice pack.
“Your Highness?”
Melione called Euro again and turned around. At that, Euro immediately covered his face with the ice pack. Not stopping there, he gripped the pouch with both hands, buried his face in it, and lowered his head.
“Are you unwell? Then you may go up first…”
“It suits you well.”
“…”
“Really, it suits you very well.”
Half out of his mind, Euro abruptly blurted out words that weren’t in his plan. That was absolutely not an act.
