Chapter 49 – 49
“You said you could handle the return gifts yourself, right?”
After stepping out of the carriage, Euro spoke to Dent. Dent looked bewildered.
“Pardon?”
“I didn’t come here to buy return gifts. I have other business to attend to.”
“Are you going alone?”
“Yes. They won’t be very happy if I bring someone else. For the ones going to Lord and Lady Molton, pick something high-quality even if it’s expensive—just exclude wine. As for the other gifts…”
“Are there other places you wish to send gifts besides the Molton family?”
At Dent’s question, Euro nodded.
“I want to give gifts to the opera singers. I’d like there to be enough for the dancers and musicians as well, so buy plenty and send them directly to the theater.”
“Yes, I shall do so. You’ll be back soon, right?”
“Yeah. Wait in the carriage.”
Dent stared blankly at Euro as he walked away, then scratched his head. He wanted to ask who Euro was going to meet and where, since Euro had no known connections in Silon, but for some reason, he felt he couldn’t.
Of course, Dent felt that if he asked, Euro would tell him the truth. Judging by the conversation they had in the carriage, Euro didn’t seem to be hiding anything at all.
It was simply a plea for trust, claiming that he would tell the truth. While it was true that Dent had wondered what exactly he was supposed to trust about the man, looking at how Euro handled things, it seemed he had no other choice.
Since he could trust no one, he recruited someone with the same goal. That was the choice Euro had made. In truth, Dent didn’t necessarily have a burning desire to cure Melione, but he had even less reason to oppose it.
Thinking about it that way, Dent felt he understood why Raymond had chosen him out of so many people.
As a second son rather than the eldest, unless he achieved significant merit as a member of a vassal family, he was destined to either marry into another noble house or become a son-in-law for a merchant family seeking noble blood.
However, if things went well by helping Euro, he could certainly aim for a decent position within the Spioren Dukedom. Especially since Melione would likely seek an aide once he regained his health.
But setting himself aside, what exactly did Euro gain from this? No matter how much Dent racked his brain, he couldn’t figure it out. The only image that remained in his mind was a picture of Euro slumped in the middle of the office, bleeding from various places.

“About that deodorizer you mentioned.”
Euro, who was packing the love drugs and sleeping pills Larry had handed him, looked up.
“Yeah. What about it?”
“Perfume is about creating a scent and spraying it. It’s the concept of adding a fragrance to a place that has none. A deodorizer, on the other hand, is about removing an existing scent with something else.”
“…….”
“If you cover an existing scent with another fragrance, they mix and can actually create a nauseating smell. So, you have to eliminate the cause of the scent entirely. To do that, you need a substance capable of it.”
“Right. I told you that back then.”
As Euro nodded in response, Larry took a glass bottle containing a transparent liquid from a drawer and placed it on the table.
It looked like a perfume bottle, with a long tube and a rubber pump next to the spray nozzle. Euro picked up the bottle and examined it from various angles.
“So this is the deodorizer?”
“Yeah.”
“How did you make it?”
“Would you even understand if I explained it?”
“…….”
“You can’t even tell if I’m making it up or not, so why bother asking?”
Amusingly, Larry threw Euro’s own words back at him from the last time. Euro let out a hollow laugh, dumbfounded.
“You’re a lot pettier than I thought, aren’t you?”
“It’s just the truth.”
Larry crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes. He noted that while Euro hadn’t asked how the love drugs or sleeping pills were made, he was curious about the method for the deodorizer.
Larry couldn’t tell if Euro was asking because he already knew the method and was just testing the name, or if he was genuinely curious because it was something he himself didn’t know.
“To remove a smell, you have to quickly eliminate the cause floating in the air. You have to break it down and scatter it so it disappears. The reason smells go away when you wash clothes with soap is that you’ve washed away the cause.”
“…….”
“I experimented with the reagents and fragrances I have to see if there was anything with the effect of stealing and removing scents. Actually, that wasn’t enough, so I tried practically everything I could get my hands on, and eventually, I found it.”
“So, what did you find?”
“Tangerine peels.”
“…….”
“There’s also stuff like mint and pine needles. So it’s not completely scentless. However, the things inside disappear quickly, so unlike stolen contentperfume, there’s no lingering after-scent.”
Euro nodded at Larry’s explanation and sprayed the deodorizer into the air a few times. Just as he said, the deodorizer had a slightly cool, tart scent, but it wasn’t strong at all.
‘This is actually pretty decent. It’s better than nothing.’
After sniffing the air, Euro gazed at Larry with a satisfied expression. This erudite dragon seemed much closer to a scientist than a mage.
Rather than using some mysterious power to make something vanish, he had extracted components from existing herbs and fruit peels.
Furthermore, seeing how proudly he presented the deodorizer and explained the process as if he had been waiting for this moment, it seemed he had quite enjoyed the process of making it.
“You didn’t actually invent this, did you?”
“…….”
“You’ve used something like this before.”
Larry asked as if interrogating him, but Euro had no intention of revealing the secrets of this world to him yet. He had to save it and hold onto it until a situation arose where he had no choice but to tell the hidden story.
He planned to beg for Melione’s curse to be lifted, and if that failed, he would tell him that this place was actually a world inside a book and that he had come from another world outside of it.
If that could stimulate the dragon’s curiosity, he would beg for his life even by doing that.
But not yet. That was his final line of visit our sitedefense. No matter how close to a god Larry was as a dragon, it would be difficult for him to believe that this world was merely a book made of letters.
‘It’s actually a good thing that he finds interest in making things.’
On his way to Larry’s house, Euro had agonized over conversation topics that would pique the dragon’s curiosity. There was, in fact, a limit to how many stimulating topics could trigger a dopamine rush.
His life wasn’t some sitcom; if anything, it was more like a disaster survival story that couldn’t be watched without tears. Talking about such things every day would only lead to fatigue.
He had already opened up about the melodramatic family history that would keep a viewer glued to the TV. Having provided the backstory of a fiancé who traveled a long way for love, prepared to face death, all that remained was a constant stream of content.
“No? I just imagined it. I really didn’t know you’d whip it up so quickly.”
Larry eyed Euro with suspicion, but Euro continued with a brazen face.
“There are so many things I want to try making like this, it’s such a shame I’m short on time.”
“……What is that supposed to mean?”
“You know why you’re asking. I’m terminally ill now.”
“…….”
“I guess the symptoms are progressing quickly. The servant told me yesterday that there’s never been a case where the curse transferred this fast…”
Euro trailed off and turned his head away. At this, Larry asked in a somewhat urgent voice.
“Symptoms? What symptoms have appeared?”
“Just, you know, the effects of the curse. What was it… they say the Duchesses who marry into the family all experience similar symptoms. Hematemesis, complaining of insomnia, things like that?”
Since this was expected, Euro spoke in a calm tone without much change in expression, while subtly glancing at Larry’s reaction.
Larry’s expression was somewhat subtle, and seeing that face, Euro smiled triumphantly inside. At the same time, he felt certain that his symptoms were indeed progressing faster than others.
“I have no problem getting around for now, but since the symptoms are fast, it’ll probably become difficult to move soon. I should assume there’s almost no time left for me to see you.”
“…….”
“So, about that… it’s a problem if you only give me one or two bottles each time. Can’t you make a lot more? I gave you plenty of money.”
“Hey, you still want to do that even while you’re dying?”
Larry shouted in disbelief, but Euro covered his ears and acted annoyed.
“Ugh, I have to do it a lot before I die! I told you last time that was my plan!”
“Is this guy a lunatic?”
Asking for more love drugs because he was about [visit our site]to die—there was [Read on Read BL Novels]no bigger psycho than this. Larry [stolen content]glared at Euro, huffing, then suddenly turned around and began rummaging through the drawers.
“Look at that, you made a bunch and just gave me one or two for no reason, didn’t you? Are you doing this because you want more money? Huh?”
“Don’t make me laugh. You took the deodorizer without even asking how much it cost, and you have the nerve to say that?”
“I provided the idea.”
“Whatever.”
After roughly opening and closing the drawers with a thud, Larry turned back and placed a medicine wrapped in cotton cloth on the table.
“What is this? A sleeping pill?”
“A painkiller.”
“Ha, you clearly don’t know, but medicine doesn’t work on the curse.”
“Did the sleeping pills I gave you not work?”
“…….”
“Then do you think this will work, or not?”
