Chapter 19 – 19

Returning to his office and leaning back in his chair, Melione wore an inexplicably displeased expression.

From outside the window, the sound of Euro’s laughter drifted in, just as it had yesterday. As the clear, cheerful sound reached him, Melione’s expression grew increasingly distorted.

Unable to endure it any longer, Melione finally bolted upright and headed toward the window. Just as he reached out irritably, thinking he must tell them to never leave the windows open again, he found himself captivated by the sight before him.

Though it was too far to hear clearly, the sight of Euro leaning against Kisha’s back, chatting incessantly without a moment’s pause, was a scene he knew all too well.

It was the same way Euro acted when sitting at the dining table, rambling on about trivial things in front of him. However, Euro looked far more comfortable and joyful by Kisha’s side.

Euro had babbled as he pleased about falling in love at first sight or having liked him, yet strangely, he never let his guard down when facing Melione.

Of course, he would quickly return to a nonchalant face and chatter about nonsense, but it was a fact that he felt a certain level of discomfort around him.

Furthermore, upon discovering Kisha, hadn’t Euro hugged the tiger as if he were the loveliest thing in [unauthorized copy]the world [stolen content]and told Melione to go [stolen content]away, as if someone like him was no longer needed?

“What is wrong with that guy, seriously.”

Melione muttered, unable to take his eyes off Euro, before eventually shaking his head. Come to think of it, he must have been momentarily insane.

What did it matter to him whether Euro had spent his birthday alone or not? He was a man who placed no great significance on birthdays anyway.

Therefore, there was no need to act so emotionally just because he heard the boy hadn’t been able to celebrate his birthday. He had no interest in what kind of life Euro had lived, nor did he find him pitiful enough to extend such kindness.

And yet, his heart had been momentarily swayed by the story told with a face that looked as if it might burst into tears at any second. To the point where the insane suggestion of going to see the snow together on his birthday had leaped out of his mouth without passing through his brain.

He must have been out of his mind. Why on earth would he leave the mansion for Euro’s birthday? It was not something to be done while in a state where he might go mad and kill anyone he saw.

As expected, he shouldn’t have let such a strange fellow into the mansion. The person who should ask to call off the marriage now was not Euro, but himself.

An intense premonition surged through his entire body that he must not keep such a person by his side. Neither laughter nor happiness suited this place.

It was a place where people were bought with money under Read on Read BL Novelsthe Read on Read BL Novelsmere pretext of continuing [Read on Read BL Novels]the bloodline while suffering under a curse, and where even their deaths were ignored.

Despite inheriting such blood, he was currently preparing to marry a bastard of Norden just to escape the Emperor’s tedious scrutiny. It was a choice he could make because he didn’t care one bit about the other’s death.

How long would Euro Leches be able to laugh? Would he even survive until December 25th, his own birthday? No, would he even be able to say thank you for celebrating his birthday then?

He would be lucky if he didn’t run away before then. He was only able to be that cheerful because he had not yet fallen into the clutches of this curse.

Once he began to suffer from endless insomnia, auditory hallucinations of someone trying to kill him, and grotesque visions, Euro would likely lose that smile and pour his resentment upon Melione.

Asking why he had accepted this marriage, and saying that if he had truly pitied him, it would have been right to kick him out—even by force—rather than promising to celebrate a birthday he might never see.

And yet, Melione could neither close the window nor leave the spot, unable to tear his gaze away from Euro’s brightly smiling face.

“Shall we stop here for today?”

By the time they finished their cozy conversation, the [stolen content]sun was already beginning to set. Time had visit our siteflown by so quickly [Read on Read BL Novels]that they had only just reached the part where he was cast in a musical.

“Kisha must have dinner too. The Excellency mentioned earlier that you eat a lot of chicken, right?”

At Euro’s words, Kisha stood up, gave his body a light shake, and let out a brave roar. It was as if he were answering that it was a matter of course.

“Right, right. With a body this big, of course you have to eat a lot. I eat quite a bit too, even if I don’t look like it.”

Kisha let out a snort of air from his nostrils, looking somehow triumphant.

“Yes, that’s right. No matter how much I eat, how could I compare to Kisha? So, let’s head inside. We’ll finish the story tomorrow.”

As Euro stood up and began to walk, Kisha followed closely by his side. However, while Kisha had headed straight for the dining hall upon entering the mansion yesterday, today he followed Euro all the way to his room.

It was an inexplicable behavior, but Kisha was allowed to go anywhere in the mansion anyway. Thus, without any restriction, they entered the room together.

A short while later, Raymond, who had come to Euro’s room to ask about dinner, looked somewhat surprised to find Kisha lying on the sofa.

“Why is Kisha here…?”

“I know. He followed me in and won’t leave, even though I left the door open.”

Kisha, sprawled out comfortably, seemed to have no intention of moving. At this, Raymond asked Euro.

“I have prepared Kisha’s meal separately; it seems I will have to bring it here. Is it alright if he eats here?”

“Yeah, that’s fine.”

“I will be bringing chopped raw chicken, which might be a bit unpleasant to look at.”

“What’s the big deal? Once it’s cooked, it’s the same thing I eat.”

What did it matter if he saw some raw chicken? He had even bought that stuff and made spicy braised chicken himself. Chopped raw chicken was nothing to him.

However, he understood why Raymond asked. Why would a noble ever have a reason to see raw chicken before it was cooked? It wouldn’t be strange for them to find it disgusting and tell him to take it away.

Once Euro gave his permission, Raymond left the room unauthorized copyand soon returned Read on Read BL Novelswith a servant, carrying something like a large basin.

Inside, it was filled with chopped raw chicken. Euro’s jaw dropped at the staggering amount, which looked to be about five or six chickens.

“Did Kisha skip lunch by any chance?”

“No. Did the Duke not tell you? Kisha eats more than an average tiger.”

“He eats more than an average tiger and lives a long time. He really is amazing.”

Euro nodded. He didn’t know exactly how much an average tiger ate, but he could tell at a glance that this was not just a single meal’s portion.

Sensing the smell of chicken, Kisha lifted his sprawled body and immediately approached the large bowl with a growl. As Euro’s eyes widened at the sound he had never heard before, Raymond whispered softly.

“He always does that when he eats. His hunting instinct must remain. Therefore, please do not speak to him or go near him while he is eating.”

“Oh, uh… I will.”

The tiger’s growl was louder and scarier than he had expected, making the hair on his body stand on end. Until now, he had thought unauthorized copyof [Read on Read BL Novels]Kisha as something like a cat, but that had clearly been a huge misconception.

That feeling intensified as he heard the sound of raw chicken bones snapping—crunch, crunch—inside Kisha’s mouth. If he approached incorrectly, he would likely meet the same fate as that raw chicken.

While Kisha ate from a distance, the servants prepared Euro’s dinner on the table. Though it wasn’t a feast like lunch, the food was excellent.

“I think I’ll eat in the dining hall from now on. It must have been hard bringing Kisha’s portion too.”

“Not at all. This is our job.”

“Thanks, I’ll call you when I’m finished.”

“Yes, please call us whenever you need anything.”

“Ah, right. Where is the Excellency?”

Euro asked Raymond before picking up his utensils. Raymond paused for a moment before answering.

“The Excellency does not have dinner.”

“Could you perhaps bring him some soup? He promised to go see the snow with me on my birthday.”

At those words, Raymond blinked in surprise.

“He did add that ‘if he becomes healthy by then…’ But since I told him I’d help him get healthy, could you bring him the soup while saying that?”

“…”

“He probably won’t like it much. I might even get scolded. But please, Raymond.”

“…”

“If he gets too angry, you don’t have to do it from tomorrow. But if he eats it without saying much, please do it every day. I can’t think of any other way to make him healthy right now.”

If Raymond failed, Euro planned to take it himself from then on. Since the man had already exhausted his patience with him today, he didn’t want to go and stir up trouble unnecessarily.

Of course, there was a high possibility [visit our site]that this [Read on Read BL Novels]act itself Read on Read BL Novelswould be viewed unfavorably, but what could he do? Showing sincerity by doing whatever he could was enough.

Above all, if he refused, that was fine in its own way. It would give him an excuse to bring it himself.

Having listened silently to Euro’s words, Raymond nodded with an inexplicably benevolent smile.

“Yes, I will convey that to him.”

“Thanks. I’ll enjoy dinner tonight too.”

After expressing his gratitude to Raymond, Euro picked up his utensils. Perhaps because he had spent the whole day chatting, the hearty lunch he had eaten had long since been digested.
