For a while, no one spoke. Feeling a simultaneous sense of tension and pressure for some unknown reason, Chrissy remained sprawled awkwardly on the sofa, simply staring at Nathaniel. Nathaniel shifted his gaze very slowly—first to Koi’s face, then to the half-undone shirt and the exposed shoulders and arms, then to the hand clutching Chrissy’s clothes, then to Chrissy’s clearly visible collarbone and neck, and finally, his gaze locked onto Chrissy’s face. Then, slowly parting his lips, Nathaniel demanded again in a voice that felt exceptionally cold.
“I’m asking what the hell is going on here, right now.”
His speech, slower than usual, sounded all the more threatening. Chrissy froze in a moment of panic. A primal, instinctive fear crawled up from deep within him. He had felt this same emotion back when he had almost lost his sight. Is that man still erect? As this unnecessary thought suddenly crossed his mind, Koi, who was on top of Chrissy, abruptly spoke up.
“Sorry, Nathaniel. What happened was…”
Looking down at him as he scrambled off the sofa and pulled up his clothes, Nathaniel’s brow furrowed visibly.
“Mr. Niles.”
Suddenly, he called Koi by his surname in a stiff tone. To Koi, who flinched for a moment, he muttered in that same chilly voice.
“Why are you here?”
The tone was impeccably polite, but that only made it sound more frigid. Koi, standing awkwardly while fastening his buttons, blinked in obvious confusion.
“Look, I told you the sink wasn’t draining properly, so…”
“Does your father know that Mr. Niles has come to my house alone and is currently here with me?”
Nathaniel cut him off coldly before he could even finish. Even the dense Koi realized that Nathaniel hadn’t asked the question because he was actually curious. Closing his mouth in embarrassment, Koi answered hesitantly.
“Ash said he’d be late today. He told me not to worry because I’d be late with work too… Ah, I didn’t mention that I came here…”
“If your business is finished, would you mind leaving now, Mr. Niles?”
Once again, Koi couldn’t finish his sentence. To the startled man, Nathaniel coldly added:
“In the future, do not visit of your own accord like this. It is troublesome.”
“I was planning to leave before you got home.”
Feeling humiliated, Koi cast his gaze down gloomily. He was glad he had held back the words, ‘Like the fairy godmother in Cinderella.’ If he had let that out, Nathaniel would have surely grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and shoved him into the elevator like a stray rat. Fortunately, preserving a final shred of dignity, Koi walked away on his own feet, merely waving a hand instead of a proper goodbye to Chrissy, who had been watching him until the end, and headed for the front door.
“Uh…”
Standing awkwardly, unable to even give a proper farewell, Chrissy could only watch as Koi disappeared. A moment later, leaving only the desolate mechanical sound of the door in the silence, he was gone, and Chrissy was finally left alone with Nathaniel. Then, for the first time since returning home, Nathaniel spoke to Chrissy.
“And you.”
Yes, the moment had finally arrived. Feeling a sudden chill run down his spine, Chrissy slowly turned his head. Deep purple eyes were looking down at him. As Chrissy froze in a moment of hesitation, Nathaniel spoke.
“Have you never thought that you are far too loose?”
“What?”
Taken aback by the sudden question, Chrissy asked back instinctively. Nathaniel continued with a face that remained cold.
“If anyone found someone rolling around with a man they’ve never seen before in a living room where the owner is absent, wouldn’t they think the same as I do?”
“Ha…”
A sigh escaped him in sheer disbelief. Where should he even start? The situation was so absurd that bewilderment hit him before anger did. Rubbing both eyes with one hand, Chrissy paused before lifting his head.
“I know I haven’t lived a particularly chaste life. But that doesn’t mean I’m the type to roll around with someone in an empty house.”
Preoccupied with the thought that he had to get out of this situation, he failed to realize that he hadn’t specifically denied the phrase ‘a man they’ve never seen before.’ Instead, Chrissy attempted to shift the topic.
“If anything, you could call it today’s surprise prepared for you.”
As a result, Nathaniel had been surprised, so the goal had technically been achieved, but far from nodding, Nathaniel’s face hardened even more coldly. As expected, that was nonsense. Chrissy suppressed a sigh and spoke.
“It was just an accidental mishap. I’m sorry for showing you such an unsightly scene on your sofa.”
Having confessed honestly, he let his hand drop, unable to do anything about the remnants of the shirt he had tried so hard to keep in place. With buttons torn here and there, the shirt hung loosely on his body, exposing various parts of his skin. After trying his best to hide his flesh by fastening the buttons of his suit jacket as calmly as possible, Chrissy finally voiced the question that had been bothering him.
“What is the relationship between the two of you? You don’t seem like just ordinary acquaintances.”
To the first question returned to him, Nathaniel asked back in a slow manner.
“What relationship? Between me and Mr. Niles?”
Then, narrowing his eyes, he twisted his lips into a smirk.
“What does it look like we are?”
Chrissy stared intently at his face and spoke in a tone that was stiff, unlike before.
“Like… you’re dating, perhaps…”
“Hardly. Mr. Niles is not my type at all.”
Nathaniel immediately frowned and denied it. For a moment, Chrissy was flustered by his own instinctive sense of relief. Was he relieved because there was a possibility the man was single, or…
As Chrissy looked perplexed, Nathaniel suddenly asked.
“Is he your type, perhaps?”
Startled, Chrissy looked up to find Nathaniel standing toweringly close in front of him. Just as he instinctively tried to step back, Nathaniel grabbed Chrissy’s waist and pulled him in by a hair’s breadth.
“I suggest you stop. Unless you want to be found as a corpse thrown into the Hudson River.”
Suddenly, his entire body was pressed against him. Nathaniel leaned over Chrissy and whispered in a low voice. What does that mean? Doesn’t saying something like that mean he and that man have some special relationship? What on earth…
He could feel the bulge of Nathaniel’s lower body clearly against their touching frames. Along with a scent of sweetness so thick it made him dizzy.
“I never sleep with someone who has a designated partner, regardless of whether it’s you or anyone else.”
Trying his best to maintain his reason, Chrissy struggled to break free, but Nathaniel didn’t budge. Instead, he pushed Chrissy back onto the sofa where Koi and Chrissy had been sprawled just moments ago. Struggling not to collapse completely, Chrissy blurted out urgently.
“Then, if that man isn’t someone you sleep with, what is he? Just a friend?”
As he shouted breathlessly, Nathaniel sucked on Chrissy’s earlobe and whispered in his ear.
“He’s my father.”
“What?”
In an instant, Chrissy was so shocked that all the strength left his body. Not missing the opportunity, Nathaniel pushed him down onto the sofa, immediately taking the dominant position and repeating the same words.
“Didn’t you hear me? I’ll tell you again: Mr. Niles is the Omega who gave birth to me.”
Chrissy was so stunned that he forgot he was currently lying on the sofa looking up at Nathaniel Miller. What did I just hear? Connor Niles, Koi… is an Omega? He gave birth to Nathaniel?
Just as Nathaniel’s lips were about to touch his, Chrissy blurted out in disbelief.
“You… you actually have parents?”
The kiss stopped just before it happened. A chilly silence descended once more. Slowly lifting his head, Nathaniel looked down at Chrissy with an expression of disbelief and spoke.
“Do you realize what an incredible thing you just said?”
Chrissy shut his mouth in panic, but an irreversible awkwardness had already settled between the two of them.
