On the day he heard about the Omega at Lucius Castle, Mikhail sent a letter stating that he would visit the castle soon. It was common courtesy for the lord of one territory to notify another before stepping onto their land. Having observed such courtesy, Mikhail departed for the Lucius territory the very next day. Mikhail's stubborn logic was that since he had sent the notification as quickly as possible, he had fulfilled his duty.

To ensure rapid travel, he brought few companions. Ilya, a few knights, and a physician previously dispatched by the Lucius family were all that accompanied him. Since they traveled by horse without a carriage, their speed was considerable. When the physician—the only Beta in the group—could not keep up with the pace, one of the knights simply hoisted the man up behind him. Knowing he was hindering their speed, the physician didn't dare utter a word and clung tightly to the knight's waist.

A distance that would have taken ten days at a moderate pace was covered by Mikhail's party in a single week. They could have ridden faster, but it took a week because they had to allow the horses time to rest.
