The car stopped in front of the people who were curiously looking around. The door opened, and Wilkins got out first. He looked at the bewildered people, smiled awkwardly, and began to speak.
“Ah, I’m sorry. We’re back today because of some important business. We have something to ask you. Does anyone happen to have seen one of our team members yesterday…?”
While Wilkins continued to talk, the team members got out of the car and began to scatter around, each looking around. When Dane appeared, a mixture of cheers and screams suddenly erupted.
“Kyaa! He’s here!”
“Dane, Dane Striker!”
“Look over here! Dane, Dane!”
“Just a moment, I’m on a mission. Not today, please be quiet, everyone…”
Wilkins raised both arms and pleaded with the people, but the commotion did not subside easily. People were competing to take out their cell phones to take pictures or videos, so the sound of shutters continued incessantly. Inevitably, the rest of the team scattered in different directions to begin their inquiries.
“Oh my, he’s coming this way.”
A mother and daughter, seeing Dane coming in their direction, quickly blushed and clasped their hands tightly. Dane stopped a few steps away from them, who were at a loss, greeted them lightly, and opened his mouth.
“I’m Dane Striker. We’re looking for someone…”
“Yes, yes, what is it? Tell us!”
Before he knew it, even the neighbor next door had come running over and was eagerly looking up at him. Frustratingly, Dane grimaced at the sight of people running towards him even from afar. He had done enough service yesterday. He had no intention of sacrificing himself any further. Because of that, Dane immediately called Ezra.
“Hey, Ezra! These people here say they’ll tell you!”
“Huh? Oh, o-okay.”
Ezra, looking bewildered, hurriedly ran over and stood in front of them. Soon, sighs full of regret and reluctance poured out from the crowd.
“Where are you going? We’re here!”
“Wait, we’ll tell you! Dane!”
“Dane, look over here! Dane!”
Ezra, with cold sweat, began to explain in front of the women who were shouting, only looking at Dane’s back as he left.
“Okay, as I said before, we’re looking for someone. He came here with us yesterday, he’s taller than Dane… yes, and bigger. Has anyone seen a man with blonde hair and purple eyes? He would have definitely stood out.”
“Huh?”
Fortunately, those who had been so engrossed in Dane that they didn’t seem to be listening to Ezra’s words turned their attention. Of course, it wasn’t because they had become interested in him.
“Blonde hair and purple eyes?”
“Ah, I saw him. You saw him too, right?”
“Ah, yeah. There’s no way I couldn’t have seen him. He was the first thing I noticed.”
So far, so good. Just as Ezra was about to have hope, another question came flying in.
“But that man, is he a Dominant Alpha? If he has purple eyes, is that what it means?”
“Oh my, so that scent back then was Pheromone? You know, they say Dominant Alphas constantly release Pheromones like that, so it doesn’t build up in their bodies.”
“So that’s why he looks so gorgeous. This fire station has so many delicious, I mean, handsome men.”
“I didn’t see him, did anyone take a picture?”
“Here, here.”
“Of course, I took one, look.”
“Oh my, this is so much fun. Oh my god, this is the happiest moment of my day. Thank you!”
Ezra felt his mind go blank at the sound of the burst of laughter.
Desire Me if you can
Dane, barely escaping the loud noise, let out a tired sigh and looked around. It was a quiet village with nothing particularly special about it. He confirmed once again that it was such a peaceful place that it was hard to imagine someone being kidnapped in such a place. He scratched the back of his head in annoyance. Where the hell did he disappear to, that nuisance?
“Damn it, you piece of trash.”
It was when he spat out another rough curse. He suddenly felt a gaze on him. He reflexively turned his head and met the eyes of a little kid. Dane visibly frowned and stared at him. Most people would be terrified and run away, but for some reason, the child stood still with his fists clenched.
What is that?
Dane frowned and turned his head. He didn’t have time to deal with the provocation of a trivial child. He wanted to end this annoying situation quickly and go home, so he walked quickly, but he heard a sound of running from behind.
“Mister, mister! Wait, mister! I have something to report! Mister!”
Dane, letting out a short sigh, stopped walking and looked up at the sky. The child was calling out to him as if his throat would burst. In the end, he had no choice but to turn around and stride towards the child. In just three or four steps, the child was startled to see the tall man standing in front of him and craned his neck to look up. Dane deliberately lowered only his eyes and looked down at him, opening his mouth.
“So, what’s your business?”
His tone was full of annoyance. It was as if he didn’t need to listen carefully because it was obviously nonsense anyway. In addition, the child was clearly intimidated by the overwhelming height, but admirably, he did not cry and run away. Although it looked like tears were welling up in the corners of his eyes.
“A-are you a f-firefighter, mister?”
The child asked, trembling with fear. Dane looked down at the child with a cynical expression and replied.
“If the letters you read weren’t wrong, then I guess so.”
Dane put his thumb over his shoulder and pointed to the back of the T-shirt he was wearing. The child, who had bothered to turn around to check that it said ‘Fire Department’ in large letters, looked up at him again.
“P-please find my friend.”
“Friend?”
As expected, Dane frowned and looked down at the child at the trivial sound.
“Is that bastard also a Dominant Alpha?”
“Huh? What’s that?”
The child, as if taken aback by the words that made him reflect on the situation he was in, widened his eyes and asked back. Of course not. Dane waved his hand, thinking bitterly.
“No, it’s nothing. So, what do you want me to do?”
“My friend. I want you to find my friend.”
Even at this point, when he could have been intimidated, the child stood firm and continued to ‘report’.
“My friend hasn’t been seen for a few days. He hasn’t come to school either. His mom and dad are divorced. He lives alone with his dad, and when I went to see him, he said he couldn’t come out because he had measles. But that’s a lie. My friend got vaccinated. My mom said that when his mom was around, I went to the hospital with him and his mom to get the shot.”
Dane stared at the child’s face without saying a word. He didn’t seem to be lying. As he listened silently, the child seemed to gain courage and continued to speak quickly.
“His dad sometimes hits him. He said it’s because he doesn’t listen, but my friend is really nice. So it’s weird that he hits him like that. My dad has never hit me? My dad says he loves it when I run up and kiss him when he comes home from work in the evening. But I’m almost 10 years old now. If I’m 10 years old, I’m an adult, right? Shouldn’t I stop doing that now? Shouldn’t I stop eating the cookies my mom bakes? The dog cookies are really delicious, do you like dogs or cats? My friend has a hamster…”
“Wait, wait, stop.”
