Prologue
“Congratulations, both of you. It’s twins.”
What went wrong?
That was the first thought that came to Ashley’s mind. Koi, who had heard the thunderous news alongside him, had no idea what Ashley was thinking and overflowed with joyful questions. How did they know they were twins? Where are the hearts? Does that mean they need twice the baby supplies? Koi’s precious voice continued, but less than half of it reached Ashley’s ears.
What on earth went wrong?
He couldn’t figure it out at all. Not one child, but two at once. He had never factored this into his calculations.
Fortunately, Ashley was sitting down. If he had been standing, he would have staggered badly. Then, even someone as dense as Koi would have immediately realized Ashley was shocked, and it was obvious Ashley would have had to work quite hard to explain his current confusion.
Calm down, Ash. Get a grip first.
He tried to regain his composure as quickly as possible. Smile, damn it. Koi is watching.

“The next one should look like you. Fairly.”
He should have stopped there, but he couldn’t because he had so little self-control left. Ashley added this:
“One child that looks like me is enough.”
“Enough? Not at all.”
Koi said with a serious expression, dropping a massive bombshell.
“I wish there were a whole lot of Ashs in the world!”
For a moment, Ashley felt dizzy and almost collapsed on the spot. Fortunately, his innate stamina and body, honed since childhood, helped him avoid making a spectacle of himself, allowing Ashley to end the shock with just a slight stagger.
“That’s not it, Koi.”
Ashley admonished him in a tone feigning affection with some distance.
“If there were that many of me in the world, we’d all fight over you and end up killing each other. Would you like it if not a single one of me was left?”
He said it like a joke, but he meant it. He wouldn’t let anyone take Koi from him. Even if it was another version of himself.
“No, that’s not it. I don’t want that at all, absolutely not.”
Koi flinched and shook his head hurriedly. Just from that reaction, it was clear the Ashley Miller-only world in his head was completely different from what Ashley imagined. Ashley kissed the flustered Koi and said.
“So let’s not think like that, okay?”
“Yeah, okay.”
As always, Koi nodded obediently. As if trying to shake off his disappointment, he smiled and tightly hugged the baby in his arms.
“It’s okay, there are two anyway.”
