He looked as if he had been shocked. Strange. Why is he reacting so differently now? Yu-jin frowned, puzzled. It was Winston who broke the silence.
“Say it again, what did you just say?”
“You heard me.”
“Say it again.”
Winston muttered through gritted teeth. He seemed to be desperately holding back from shouting. Yu-jin sighed briefly before answering.
“At the banquet, you and your friends said that I’m just a male prostitute who sleeps with anyone, so you could all take turns with me. You even seemed to be getting permission from you. Don’t you remember?”
“When?”
Winston asked hastily.
“You said that in front of me? Who? When?”
Instead of answering, Yu-jin frowned even more. Why is he suddenly acting like this? What’s the point of pretending not to know now?
“You were all gathered in the salon with your friends.”
Winston suddenly looked dazed, as if he had been hit. He must finally remember. Yu-jin thought bitterly. He must have said it so many times that he doesn’t even remember when it was. Considering how the men were laughing and talking, it was possible. But then Winston opened his mouth.
“I wasn’t there.”
Yu-jin glanced at him, turning his gaze from the ceiling. As if to say, what nonsense are you spouting? Winston spat out again in a rough voice.
“I wasn’t there at that time, damn it! I swear, I was in the garden with Evelyn at that time!”
Yu-jin stared at him without a word. Winston continued quickly, as if he were frustrated.
“I can have Evelyn confirm it. I did get a call from someone at that time, but I couldn’t hear it properly. I just hung up because they were just spouting nonsense anyway, I swear. If you want to check the call history…”
“I don’t care.”
Yu-jin cut off his continued words indifferently. Looking at Winston, who had stiffened at that moment, Yu-jin continued.
“Whether that’s true or not, what does it matter to me? Nothing will change much anyway.”
“Nothing will change?”
Winston couldn’t contain his anger and continued roughly.
“Those bastards said that to you, and you don’t care? Why didn’t you say something sooner? If you had told me…”
“You would what?”
Yu-jin still stared at him without emotion.
“What would you have done? Would you have killed them? What would change?”
“Are you telling me to just let it go when they dared to say such nonsense to you?”
“You say that to me like it’s breathing.”
Winston, who had been pouring out his anger until then, froze in place. Looking at the man’s reaction for the first time, Yu-jin spat out the words one by one in a monotonous tone.
“Male prostitute, slut, public toilet, trash.”
Winston didn’t say anything while he was listing the words. Yu-jin spoke to him, who was still just looking at him.
“You kept saying that while you were fucking me earlier.”
“That’s.”
Winston tried to say something. It was the first time he had seen him searching for words, but Yu-jin didn’t wait for him.
“It’s okay for you to say those things to me, but not for anyone else? Winston Atticus Campbell, who do you think you are? What makes you think it’s okay for you to say whatever you want? Are you some kind of sanctuary? Are you God? Go to hell, you bastard!”
Yu-jin got out of bed and shouted at Winston. The anger that had been building up exploded all at once.
“If I’m a slut, then you’re a slut too. Because you fucked me. If I’m a male prostitute and a public toilet, then you’re a male prostitute and a public toilet too!”
Winston didn’t answer. He just kept looking at Yu-jin. His face contorted with an expression that was impossible to tell whether it was anger or some other emotion.
Yu-jin didn’t hold back and went down the opposite side of the bed towards the bathroom. Winston spat out at his retreating figure.
“Tell me who those bastards are and go.”
Yu-jin opened the bathroom door, turned to look at him, and snapped fiercely.
“Why don’t you find out yourself? There’s nothing impossible for you, is there?”
Yu-jin closed the door as quietly as possible and went into the bathroom, holding his breath and listening carefully. It was quiet outside. He was nervous that he might hear something breaking like last time, but that didn’t happen.
Haaa.
Yu-jin could only stroke his chest and collapse on the spot. What have I done?
His heart was pounding like crazy belatedly. He couldn’t believe that he had said those things to Winston. And he even cursed, what’s going on!
His trembling hands came into view. Yu-jin hugged his trembling body tightly. He felt so excited that his vision was blurring. Fear came before relief. As his agitated feelings subsided to some extent, he became scared. He didn’t have the courage to go out of the bathroom and face Winston again. If Winston got angry in front of him, he didn’t think he could fight back this time.
What should I do.Another reason caused his body to tremble, but the worry was unnecessary. Leaning against the bathroom door, he slumped to the floor, and a small sound reached his ears. It was the sound of a door opening and closing. And then, silence returned. Yu-jin hesitated before cautiously opening the bathroom door. The spacious room was empty.
Winston was gone.
Seizing the unexpected opportunity, he hastily rinsed off the bodily fluids with water and hurried out of the room. Anxious to avoid seeing Winston again, Yu-jin rushed back to the child’s room, only releasing a shaky sigh after securely locking the door.
…Still, I think I said everything I needed to say.
Lying down next to his daughter, he pondered and came to a conclusion. He would worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. He didn’t want to think about anything. Overwhelmed by a crushing fatigue, Yu-jin quickly fell into a deep sleep.
“Daddy, Daddy.”
He barely woke up to the sound of his child shaking him, already close to lunchtime. Still groggy, he sat up, and Angela, who was on the bed, asked with a puzzled expression.
“Daddy, do you sleep with me now? Why did you sleep here?”
“Huh? Oh…”
His mind wasn’t working properly, still waking up. He hesitated, unable to think of what to say, but fortunately, his daughter’s attention shifted elsewhere.
“What is this medicine? Is it mine? What is it?”
Drawn by the barrage of questions, Yu-jin noticed the envelope in his daughter’s hand. Forcing his heavy eyelids to blink, he checked inside and found an unfamiliar medicine. As he took it out and turned it over, something caught his eye.
Pheromone suppressant. For Omegas.
Startled, Yu-jin paused. He had definitely locked the door last night. As if answering Yu-jin’s question, Angela said,
“It was outside the door. Is it mine? What’s a suppressant?”
“Uh… well…”
Yu-jin stammered, barely managing to gather his thoughts. He seemed to vaguely understand why Winston had left the room last night. Could he have gone to buy this? That man, himself?
It was unbelievable. No way, Yu-jin quickly dismissed his speculation. He was a man who could get anything he wanted with a snap of his fingers. But he drove out himself to buy a single suppressant? And for my medicine?
That’s ridiculous.
“This is for Daddy. Thank you for bringing it, Angie.”
After a quick kiss on the cheek, his daughter smiled brightly and immediately clung to Yu-jin’s neck.
“But Daddy, I smell that smell here.”
“Huh? What smell?”
Angela, who was stuck to him as if it were natural, said to Yu-jin, who was hugging her tightly.
“That smell, the sweet smell.”
Yu-jin paused for a moment, and the child added, as if to confirm,
“Mr. Campbell’s smell.”
Flustered, Yu-jin buried his nose in the envelope and sniffed loudly, but of course, he couldn’t smell anything. Panicked, he just blinked, then cautiously asked again.
“Really, Angie? Are you sure it’s that smell?”
The child brought the envelope to her face as if to check, then quickly backed away.
“Yes, it’s that smell.”
Angela frowned and covered her nose with her fingers. Faced with the child’s genuine reaction, Yu-jin didn’t know how to react for a moment and just blinked blankly.
