What would she want?
Just the thought of going to buy a gift for the child made him feel good. How lovely Angela would be when she received it and was happy.
And…….
It even felt like a crucial mission, thinking that Yu-jin would also soften his heart if he saw such a child. To the point where he had the illusion that all the resentment would disappear as they grew closer.
Of course, Winston already knew all too well that reality was not so easy. But wasn’t a little imagination okay? Winston surprisingly chose to ignore reality for the sweetness of the illusion. And he finally took out the letter and unfolded it before his eyes.
Unexpectedly, the content was not much on the wide, long page. Winston frowned unconsciously at the ridiculously short content and turned his gaze to the first line.
To Santa Claus.
The heart that was diligently pressed down with still crooked letters came into Winston’s view. He slowly moved only his eyes, chasing the letters, and read the same phrase over and over again, but nothing changed.
“Huh.”
A short sigh escaped from Winston’s mouth. He didn’t know whether he was dumbfounded, embarrassed, or bewildered. Even when the Butler brought the tea, he was still staring at the letter in the same position.
“Um, Mr. Campbell.”
The Butler, who placed the teacup in front of him, opened his mouth cautiously. Only then did Winston lower the letter and raise his eyes, and the Butler continued with an embarrassed look.
“Yu-jin said he has something to say, shall I bring him here?”
Winston paused for a moment. He hadn’t yet sorted out his complicated feelings. But he had no justification to avoid Yu-jin.
“Bring him in 10 minutes.”
Winston said, then brought the teacup to his lips. As the hot, bitter tea passed down his esophagus, his reason seemed to return. He glanced over the letter once more and put it in the drawer. Now he had to prepare to welcome Yu-jin.
* * *
Yu-jin’s face, walking towards the study with a larger stride than usual, was flushed and somewhat excited. All day long, he had been thinking about all sorts of simulations in his head, wondering how to deal with and persuade Winston. He had been angry ever since he found out that Angela had gone to the post office. This time, he was determined to get an answer.
*Hoo,* he stopped in front of the study, shrugged his shoulders once, and took a deep breath. After stroking his chest, he knocked on the door with a determined expression, and a nonchalant voice came from inside as usual.
“Come in.”
Yu-jin immediately grabbed the doorknob and turned it to open the door. Winston was leaning against the desk, which looked like a straight line, looking at him.
The moment he stepped in challengingly, Yu-jin suddenly realized. This was the very study where the will had been announced. And it was also the place where they had made their deal.
The anger grew even greater as he vividly recalled how cruel and insulting this man had been to him without a care from the first time they met until now. Yu-jin, who had strode to the middle of the study with a triumphant air, opened his mouth, deliberately keeping his distance from him.
“It’s unfair that Angie gets to go out and I don’t.”
He tried to calm his emotions as much as possible, but even to his own ears, his voice was clearly angry. Lest he think he was losing his mind, he quickly added.
“There was nothing in our contract that said you could restrict my freedom. So let’s stop this ridiculous confinement. I’m going back to Delights.”
“That’s not going to happen.”
“What?”
Yu-jin suddenly didn’t understand what he meant. What wasn’t going to happen? My going out? Or going back to Delights?
As if he had noticed the question he had in mind, Winston continued.
“Delights is currently undergoing interior repairs. It won’t be usable for a few months.”
It wasn’t a lie. Of course, he had no intention of telling Yu-jin why he had started the repairs.
“Repairs? Why suddenly?”
Winston answered smoothly to Yu-jin, who was noticeably flustered.
“There’s been talk of renovations for a while. There was also an expert opinion that the mansion was gradually sinking, and the timing was right.”
There were no loopholes in his words. Yu-jin was bewildered for a moment, but soon came to his senses. What did that have to do with him? No matter what state Delights was in now, it had nothing to do with him.
“Okay, I got it. That’s beside the point, it doesn’t matter if I go out, does it? I don’t need your permission anymore. I’ll do what I want.”
It was immature to be so stubborn, but this was not the time to argue about this and that. He had tried to compromise with this man like an adult several times, but had never succeeded. Rather, Yu-jin thought that this was closer to the image of himself that he thought he had. As expected, Winston frowned at such Yu-jin.
“You want to spend money that badly?”
“Yeah, I’m going to spend it like crazy. I’m going to squander all your money.”
Yu-jin declared with his chest out and standing tall.
“Didn’t you know? That’s why I married you. So now you have to give me what I want.”
There was no hesitation in his words. As if he was really impatient and didn’t know what to do. It seemed to support his words and actions at first glance, but Winston did not open his mouth easily.
Why does he look so awkward?
Frowning unconsciously, he stared intently at Yu-jin. It was like watching the terrible acting of an actor who had no talent at all and only relied on his face to stand on stage. His unusually flushed cheeks and shining eyes revealed that Yu-jin was more excited than usual, but his tone and actions were extremely awkward. Winston suddenly felt like the reason he was angry now was somewhere else.
What on earth could it be?
But unfortunately, his thoughts stopped there. Yu-jin, glaring at him with a red face and shrugging his shoulders, was so mesmerizing that he was at a loss for words. He, who had once completely captivated Winston, was now in front of him. Winston was shaking so strongly that it was futile to have sworn so many times that he would never make the same mistake again.
……Haa.
An unconsciously excited sigh escaped from his lips. Suddenly, a tense atmosphere filled the air. And Yu-jin also noticed it. Suddenly, his heart began to pound like crazy.
50.
His mouth was parched and dry as if it were burning. Yu-jin unconsciously stuck out his tongue and licked his lips. Winston narrowed his eyes at the sight, and Yu-jin belatedly realized that he had made a mistake.
“D-don’t get any weird ideas.”
He had made another mistake. He had only heightened the tension between them by bringing it up unnecessarily. His voice was terribly hoarse, and the words he had uttered were terrible as well. As if to prove it, Winston smiled, twisting his lips.
“Weird ideas? What’s that?”
He knew full well, but he was deliberately pretending not to know. Yu-jin glared at him with resentment. He had already stepped on the trap. Now he had no choice but to jump into the gunpowder together.
“I can see it all, if you wanted to play dumb, you should have hidden it.”If he made another glib remark, Yu-jin might just kick that bulging thigh of his. Of course, that was just a fantasy, and he knew very well that he didn’t have the courage to actually do it. He was on high alert when Winston suddenly chuckled.
“Oops, caught me?”
“Ha.”
Yu-jin felt the tension drain from his shoulders. This man seemed to have no intention of hiding his desires. Didn’t he realize that the object of his desire was none other than Yu-jin, the very person he despised and hated so much? Or was there another reason?
“Are you telling me you get turned on by seeing me angry? Are you out of your mind? Or do you think so little of me?”
As Yu-jin questioned him, Winston smiled openly and said, “I could never think little of you. If I did, I wouldn’t be this ‘hard’ right now.”
Yu-jin was taken aback by the deliberate choice of words. Winston spoke as he hesitated, embarrassed.
“Honey, do you remember the day the will was read?”
