GMC 168
Just then, Yeon-rok appeared. He looked as radiant as sunlight, as if he had just returned from a light morning stroll. He offered a greeting, his face showing no sign of the skirmish that had occurred moments before.
“Good morning, everyone!”
“Did you sleep well, Yeon-rok-ah? Thanks for covering me with the sleeping bag. I slept warmly thanks to you.”
As Moon Gyeon-woo returned the morning greeting in a gentle voice, Yeon-rok gave a cute, beaming smile.
“It was nothing. If everyone is okay with it, should I prepare breakfast? What do you want to eat?”
“Anything you make is fine with me.”
Choi Hwan watched the two of them chatting harmoniously with a sullen expression before quickly jumping in.
“Or should I boil some ramen?”
“Huh? Would that be okay?”
“Why not? Boiling ramen isn’t exactly a difficult task.”
Moon Gyeon-woo didn’t particularly want to eat ramen boiled by someone like Choi Hwan, but he also didn’t want to see Yeon-rok struggling with breakfast so early in the morning, so he quickly pushed the ramen packets onto Choi Hwan. Choi Hwan glared, seemingly displeased that Moon Gyeon-woo had stepped in after he had volunteered to cook. Ignoring him, Moon Gyeon-woo asked Yeon-rok in a voice filled with genuine affection.
“Were you out somewhere?”
“My body felt stiff, so I took a light look around the area. By the way, where is the CEO?”
Yeon-rok looked around. Moon Gyeon-woo didn’t care where Yeom Cheon-ho had gone, but since Yeon-rok was curious, he answered sincerely.
“I wonder? Maybe he went to exercise? Or, how about we just eat without that guy?”
He spoke with his personal wish embedded in the words, but unfortunately, as the saying goes, the tiger appears as soon as you speak of it; Yeom Cheon-ho strolled in. In reality, he was more poised than that, but that was how he appeared in Moon Gyeon-woo’s eyes.
“Good morning.”
Yeom Cheon-ho offered his morning greetings, but only Yeon-rok responded. Soon, Choi Hwan brought the ramen. Everyone sat down, took a bite, and began to complain.
“What is wrong with the taste of this ramen?”
“It tastes like something that would be good for one’s health.”
“It’s a bit like the Han River, but the taste isn’t bad.”
Despite everyone’s criticism, Choi Hwan remained steadfast. Amidst this, the kind-hearted Yeon-rok tried his best to say something positive. As that neither-here-nor-there breakfast came to an end, Yeom Cheon-ho spoke to everyone.
“I plan to voluntarily surrender to the prosecution within today.”
It was a decision made sooner than expected, but it was understandable. The longer he dragged it out, the more disadvantageous it would be. Moon Gyeon-woo felt a twinge of jealousy seeing Yeon-rok ask with a face full of deep concern for Yeom Cheon-ho, but he didn’t let it show.
“You’ve been framed, but is it really okay?”
“I cannot simply sit back and let this happen. Above all, I cannot run away forever.”
It was as Yeom Cheon-ho said. Now that an emergency arrest warrant had been issued, continuing to flee would inevitably lead to him becoming a wanted criminal. The only outcomes left would be leaving Korea forever or being eliminated by Yeom Cheon-ryul.
“I suspect this matter will take a considerable amount of time. After all, it is a charge of murder.”
Yeom Cheon-ho had been framed for murdering one of the members of the Heavenly Truth Ming Cult. ‘Of all things,’ he lacked an alibi because he had been trapped on the island at the time. Since false evidence and false witnesses had been fabricated, how he would escape depended entirely on his own abilities.
To fabricate a crime that didn’t even happen… unauthorized copytruly, no matter Read on Read BL Novelswhere you are, there is nothing that power and money cannot achieve.
Moon Gyeon-woo thought bitterly. Yeom Cheon-ryul likely viewed Yeom Cheon-ho’s disappearance as the final, perfect opportunity to eliminate his arch-rival and thus rushed to orchestrate the plot. Because of that haste, there would be loopholes, and the victory in this matter would depend on how cunningly Yeom Cheon-ho could exploit those gaps.
However, more than Yeom Cheon-ho, Moon Gyeon-woo was worried about the damage that they—specifically Yeon-rok—might suffer while this fierce power struggle took place. Yeom Cheon-ho seemed to have similar thoughts.
“That is why, until this matter is settled, I would like the three of you to stay abroad.”
Moon Gyeon-woo frowned sharply at the unilateral notification. He could overlook it for Yeon-rok or Choi Hwan. However, he was a person with a steady job and ongoing research. Furthermore, a trial is not something resolved in a day or two. It would likely take several months.
“If I’m abroad, what am I supposed to do about my research?”
“I understand that it is not research that can be finished in a short period anyway. It would be best to take this opportunity to get some deep rest at a resort. I will provide ample compensation for this later. I will also obtain the materials you wanted, Mr. Moon Gyeon-woo.”
Despite the friendly tone, he was telling him to suspend the current research project regarding names. It was so infuriatingly obnoxious that Moon Gyeon-woo felt his blood boil. He didn’t want to give in to him in the slightest. However, considering only Yeon-rok’s safety, staying safe as Yeom Cheon-ho suggested seemed like the best option, so he spoke in a cold and heartless voice.
“I get it, so just hurry up and get lost.”
Truly, he wished everyone except himself and Yeon-rok would just disappear.
On the way to the prosecution, Yeom Cheon-ho stopped by the house to drop off the three of them. Although it was urgent, there were many things to prepare, [unauthorized copyunauthorized copystyle="font-size:0;position:absolute;left:-9999px;">]such as packing luggage to go overseas. Even though Choi Hwan was on a break, he had things to finalize with his agency before leaving. This was because Yeom Cheon-ho had told them to keep in mind that, in the worst-case scenario, they might have to stay abroad for up to two or three years.
The state of the house wasn’t as messy as it had been the last time he saw it. It seemed Mrs. Park and others had tidied up in the meantime. As they entered the house, Mrs. Park ran out barefoot to welcome them. To be precise, she only welcomed Yeon-rok.
“Our young master, you’ve lost weight because you’ve suffered so much.”
Mrs. Park and Moon Gyeon-woo shared the same opinion. Yeon-rok worried about Mrs. Park.
“Mrs. Park, your face doesn’t look great either. You must have worried a lot.”
“Still, I’m just glad you returned safely. I was so worried.”
Mrs. Park didn’t even acknowledge Choi Hwan or Moon Gyeon-woo. Her favoritism toward Yeon-rok was immense. While he thought it was only natural, Moon Gyeon-woo felt a secret jealousy toward Mrs. Park. Yeon-rok jumped with joy at the news that Mrs. Park would also go abroad and be responsible for the meals.
“I thought I’d miss your home-cooked meals the most, so I’m glad.”
“I might as well take this opportunity to travel abroad. It’s been my dream to live overseas.”
“If you stay abroad for a long time, won’t you be sad because you can’t see your grandchildren?”
“I believe Lord Yeom Cheon-ho will resolve this matter quickly. Of course, he will.”
Can it really be resolved quickly? Unlike the confident Mrs. Park, Moon Gyeon-woo was somewhat pessimistic. An opponent driven to desperation and struggling in a corner is always harder to deal with than one who is relaxed. Above all, if the other side wants to drag out a trial, they can do so for years.
While calculating the probability of winning in his head, Moon Gyeon-woo scanned the surroundings. Unlike usual, the inside and outside of the house were swarming with bodyguards. This was because the security was likely compromised since others had already come and gone. Moon Gyeon-woo, who tended to dislike having more than two people in one space, found it incredibly uncomfortable, but Choi Hwan and Yeon-rok didn’t seem to mind. It was because they both liked people. Or perhaps it was because they were still young.
“Oh, Hyung. …Already? Alright. I’ll head to the agency in a bit.”
Choi Hwan, who had been idling around Yeon-rok while half-heartedly packing, reluctantly took a call from his Manager and stepped out. Moon Gyeon-woo did not miss this opportunity and approached Yeon-rok affectionately.
“Yeon-rok-ah, do you want some snacks before you continue?”
Yeon-rok, who had been diligently packing, brightened up. Glancing into the suitcase, the attachment doll was the first thing placed inside. Moon Gyeon-woo felt pity for the other’s inability to hide his subtle dependency, but at the same time, he liked it. The fact that there was a space in the other person that he could fill meant that the other would desire him that much more.
“Thanks, Hyung. I’ll enjoy them. They smell really good.”
“I baked them myself.”
“You baked all of these, Hyung? They look delicious.”
Yeon-rok was amazed as he ate the fluffy, well-baked muffins. In truth, Moon Gyeon-woo wasn’t bad at cooking as long as he had an accurate recipe. Among various types of cooking, [stolen content]baking was particularly interesting to him. He liked the chemical reactions and the fact that one had to strictly adhere to the ingredients and measurements.
“How are you going to take your luggage?”
Moon Gyeon-woo asked as he naturally sat down beside Yeon-rok. Leaning over, he neatly folded the clothes that had been crumpled haphazardly near the suitcase.
