Chapter 69 – The Price of a Misjudgment
‘…I was just worried about you, Team Leader.’
With those words, the sensation slowly returned to his body, which had felt numb and as if it were walking on air.
He had barely managed to compose his emotions and squeeze out a promise to see them next week, but by the time he came to his senses, he was burying his face in those fragile shoulders and weeping.
What did the touch of that small embrace, holding him silently, feel like?
Jeong Si-jun tilted his head back, staring into the maw of the Kaiju lunging before him. Sharp teeth, drenched in blood of unknown origin, were poised to pierce through his body at any moment.
Kwaaaaak!
Amidst the adrenaline surging through every vein in his body, the tangled wavelengths expanded as if they were about to explode.
“Team Leader!”
A voice, belonging to someone he couldn’t identify, kept âaria-label="Read on Read BL Novels">Read on Read BL Novels€‹calling out to him.
Team Leader. I am the team leader of those bastards, but why was I being called ‘Team Leader’ while stuck in this fucking place?
Jeong Si-jun slowly blinked his vision, which had already been stained crimson. He felt as if his very consciousness was about to be swept away by the wavelengths swirling through him like a storm.
‘Can’t you stay for just three more minutes before you go?’
Why on earth did that man’s voice come to mind right now?
Jeong Si-jun let out a short laugh. To think that the only thing he recalled before his memories began to fragment was the face of a pretty Guide. It really wasn’t even funny.
‘I knew something felt strangely unsettling.’
Yoon Ki-hyun was walking through the basement corridor of the Awakened Management Center’s annex. While he was waiting for Jeong Si-jun to return, he was approached by an Esper he had never seen before.
‘Are you Mr. Yoon Ki-hyun, the personal Guide for Special Team 2 Leader Jeong Si-jun?’
‘I am.’
‘You must come with me now.’
He didn’t need a detailed explanation to understand. The Esper who had come for him belonged to the Special Isolation Unit. There was only one reason for such a visit.
Jeong Si-jun had been isolated after showing precursor symptoms of an outbreak.
The place he arrived at, guided by the Esper, was a building quite familiar to Yoon Ki-hyun. It was the special isolation facility built in the basement near the annex.
It was a facility inaccessible to anyone except authorized personnel, and Yoon Ki-hyun had visited it several times.
Before entering the area where Jeong Si-jun was isolated, a center employee mechanically urged him to sign a pledge.
[In accordance with the laws regarding Awakened individuals, all video recording and audio recording are strictly prohibited within the basement isolation rooms of the Awakened Management Center annex. The Guide has been sufficiently notified in advance of the risks associated with the actions taking place inside the basement isolation room and acknowledges them, and the responsibility for subsequent events shall be…]
In short, it meant that the center would not know and would not be held responsible for whatever happened inside. There was a reason why guiding an Esper showing precursor symptoms of an outbreak came with such a high hazard pay. It was because of the nature of the act.
Without hesitation, Yoon Ki-hyun scribbled his information and signature in the signing space.
Afterward, he passed through the thick doors leading to the isolation room without hindrance.
Every time he passed through one of the heavy doors—each as thick as an adult man’s forearm—the wavelengths permeating his skin grew rougher.
Though he didn’t consciously count them, by the time he had passed through more than five doors, the conversation they had shared when they last parted came to mind.
‘Can’t you stay for just three more minutes before you go?’
‘I have to go quickly. Give me three more minutes when I get back.’
Would something have been different if he had guided him for just three more minutes then?
He knew it was a futile assumption, but his heart felt heavy. Of all times, why did this disaster have to happen on his first day back at the center after attending his mother’s funeral?
“It’s here.”
At the words of the guiding Esper, Yoon Ki-hyun stared straight ahead. He was in front of a pitch-black door. Jeong Si-jun would be beyond this door.
“Yes.”
Yoon Ki-hyun gazed beyond the slowly opening door. Several lights had already been shattered, unable to withstand the violent wavelengths.
As he stepped into the isolation room without hesitation, the door closed. With the sound of the lock turning behind him, Yoon Ki-hyun looked at the figure lying in the center of the room.
While the restraint suit that prevented the limbs from moving freely was familiar, the blindfold covering Jeong Si-jun’s eyes was strange. It seemed his condition was far worse than expected.
It was an outfit that made one reluctant to approach, but Yoon Ki-hyun did not hesitate and went straight to him, cupping his face.
“…Ah.”
Jeong Si-jun, who had been gasping in pain while biting the inside of his lip, let out a small moan at the soft touch on his cheek.
Even with his entire body restrained and his eyes covered, he knew who the owner of the hand touching his cheek was.
Though the person was usually busy grumbling or glaring whenever he spoke, he was someone who naturally sat by his side as if that spot belonged to him.
Jeong Si-jun recalled the owner of the scent of soap that wafted into the isolation room filled with the smell of blood.
The only person in the whole world who would sign a fucking pledge and enter this place to save a madman who had been pumped full of just enough sedatives to keep him from dying was his Guide.
“…Yoon Ki-hyun.”
The name, pronounced with a tongue dulled by sedatives, [visit our site]visit our sitevisit our site -->echoed low in the isolation room. In response, a soft thumb gently rubbed his cheek as if praising him.
Feeling as though he were being praised, Jeong Si-jun laughed unconsciously. It was surprising to himself that he still had the strength to laugh, even though he felt as if he were losing his mind to the wavelengths tearing through his body.
“I was a bit intimidated because your eyes were covered.”
“…Haha.”
Yoon Ki-hyun felt a small sense of relief as he looked down at the man laughing at his monologue. It seemed they had covered his eyes to prepare for any unforeseen situation. They likely judged that the events that had recently occurred had a significant psychological impact on him.
“I told you to let me get three more minutes of guiding before you left.”
The voice softly reproaching him felt as if it were being driven straight into his head. Unable to hide his impatience, Jeong Si-jun whined.
“It hurts like hell right now… can’t you stop scolding me and just give me some guiding first?”
The desperate yet polite tone was quite unfamiliar. It was a completely opposite attitude from when he had been spitting blood and rambling while half-collapsed on the street.
Even though he knew that if he failed to calm Jeong Si-jun’s wavelengths here, it would end in the worst possible way, he couldn’t understand why Jeong Si-jun’s polite request felt so cute.
Perhaps that was why. He might have felt an impulse to kiss Jeong Si-jun first.
Yoon Ki-hyun slowly lowered his head and took Jeong Si-jun’s blood-stained lips into his own. Along with the metallic taste of blood, panicked breaths surged.
As he parted the lips with his tongue, intending to draw out the wavelengths through the mucous membranes, the slow tongue, soaked in sedatives, flinched.
“Mmm….”
Jeong Si-jun groaned, his throat vibrating, as if uncomfortable with a body that wouldn’t move as he wished. Seeing him look so pitiful and wretched, Yoon Ki-hyun gently stroked his cheek with his hand.
‘It’s not like this is our first kiss.’
A smile escaped as he saw him acting cuter than expected, and Jeong Si-jun whined through his throat. It was a complaint asking for more focus.
‘Seriously, this kid is so impatient.’
Yoon Ki-hyun slowly readjusted his grip on Jeong Si-jun’s cheek and swallowed the wavelengths that felt like they were scattering stinging pain as they dug into his skin. As the sharp wavelengths seeped into his body through the membranes, a moan escaped him involuntarily.
“Hng….”
The moment Yoon Ki-hyun’s short moan rang out Read [visit our site]on stolen contentRead BL Novelslike a signal flare, there was a sound of something ripping.
It was the sound of Jeong Si-jun using brute force to tear the knots of the restraint suit, turning it into rags. Now that his hands were free, he threw off the blindfold and looked up into Yoon Ki-hyun’s eyes.
He felt a slight flicker of fear at the gaze, which looked quite menacing, perhaps because of the bloodshot whites of his eyes. The shift in dynamics happened in an instant.
Yoon Ki-hyun took the full brunt of Jeong Si-jun’s ravenous kiss as he suddenly climbed atop him.
Honestly, because he had asked so politely, he thought the man still had some sanity left. But looking at the way he acted, it was hardly different from the stage of losing all reason and running wild.
“Ugh, mmm….”
As a hot, thick tongue pushed slowly but surely into his mouth, Yoon Ki-hyun squirmed slightly. He wanted to focus on the guiding, but his body, which had strangely begun to grow aroused, contracted on its own.
“Ah, the wavelengths….”
Yoon Ki-hyun frowned as their lips parted amidst the frantic guiding. He had wondered why he felt a throbbing sensation starting from the root of his tongue; it seemed the wavelengths were being drawn not just through the fingertips holding his cheek, but through the membranes as well.
With his eyes half-closed, Yoon Ki-hyun lifted his head, appearing somewhat urgent. Drawing the wavelengths through his fingertips alone was not enough.
“Why are you lifting your head like you’re pestering me?”
Despite the pain lacerating his entire body, Jeong Si-jun was preoccupied with admiring Yoon Ki-hyun’s face with composure. Even though the situation he had always imagined had become reality, it didn’t quite sink in.
“Quickly, I have to guide you.”
“So you’re telling me to put my lips back on quickly?”
“Huh? Yes.”
Yoon Ki-hyun frowned as if asking why he was questioning something so obvious. Jeong Si-jun rubbed the deep creases between Yoon Ki-hyun’s brows a few times with his thumb.
If just a kiss felt like it was driving him crazy, could a body that had already held Yoon Ki-hyun twice before endure this? It seemed impossible.
Jeong Si-jun did not have blind faith in his own self-control.
While he obediently lowered his lips, he continued to ponder, and just before touching those soft lips, he whispered:
“Honestly, I’m saying this because I don’t think I can hold back if I keep doing this with you, Mr. Yoon Ki-hyun….”
As he paused to choose his words and looked down, Yoon Ki-hyun’s [unauthorized copy]copy" style="display:none;" aria-label="unauthorized copy">unauthorized copyface was strangely flushed. It was the aftereffect of the frantic kiss they had shared moments ago.
Wiping the blood that had transferred to the plump lips with his thumb, he asked.
“Can I hold you, Yoon Ki-hyun?”
For a moment, Yoon Ki-hyun found it absurd. Even at this moment, as he asked, terrible wavelengths were relentlessly surging through the skin. To think that the only thing he could ask while suffering from pain, with veins bulging in his neck and eyes bloodshot, was something like that.
Yoon Ki-hyun slowly tightened his grip on Jeong Si-jun’s cheek. Then, pulling him down, he murmured.
“It’s not like it’s our first time anyway. Just do it.”
At the heated permission, it took only a second for Jeong Si-jun to devour Yoon Ki-hyun’s lips as if he had been waiting for it.
