When ‘That’ was born, people discussed how to dissect him after death. His hands, feet, heart, and eyeballs were to be enshrined in temples guarding the east, west, south, and north of this land, respectively. The remaining torso, including the head, was agreed to be placed in a glass coffin and enshrined in the capital’s main temple. The remaining part was the most important and beautiful: the wings.
The nobles sitting around the round table, abandoning dignity and grace, argued, spitting as they spoke. Everyone wanted to have the wings and would not give up even a single one. The words that they would keep and enshrine them in their hometowns, their territories, and their temples were consistently stubborn, differing only in subject and voice. As everyone raised their voices, the discussion continued for four days and nights.
On the fifth day, those who had lost their voices all looked at the rising morning sun. And they stopped the long discussion. The lined signatures on the thick pledge, promising to decide on the wings’ disposition when ‘That’ died in the future, were no different from a reservation list.
‘That’ quietly watched all the scenes without even crying. The small baby, whose limbs, head, ears, torso, and toes were tightly wrapped in a long cloth, breathed gently, revealing only his face and two wings. Smiling brightly at the adults who were excited about dividing his body.
