The sound of the man’s pounding pulse seemed to echo throughout the penthouse. Of course, it was an absurd imagination, and there was actually no sound to be heard, but the man’s trembling eyes towards him more than adequately represented it.
Dominic poured more liquor into his empty glass and opened his mouth.
“I’m just kidding.”
He added in a nonchalant tone, then brought the glass to his mouth. The man had a dumbfounded expression as expected. He seemed to be wondering whether he should laugh because he said ‘just kidding’ or not, but soon he distorted his face ambiguously. The man also had no choice but to make the unique face that those who can’t do either make.
Having solved the problem in the most mundane way, he cleared his throat slightly and spoke with a fairly sociable smile.
“Is today your day off?”
Dominic answered him, who had hurriedly created a topic.
“It’s a vacation. Because the trial is over.”
“Ah, yes.”
The man did not miss the opportunity and hurriedly continued when Dominic accepted the topic he had squeezed out.
“I also watched that trial. You are Miller after all. There was a lot to learn.”
Dominic also softened his lips as he watched him smile, folding his long eyes in half.
“You’re not very good at flattery.”
It was a gentle tone, but enough to embarrass the man. However, he was more persistent than expected.
“I’m still trying, so I’ll get better someday.”
Dominic looked at the man’s face over the half-tilted glass. He smiled nonchalantly. Falsely.
Interesting.
Dominic put the half-finished glass on the table.
“Shall I make you an offer?”
“Yes, by all means.”
Immediately, the man straightened his posture and faced him. Dominic deliberately stalled, stroking the surface of the glass. The man stared intently as his lips slowly moved. Feeling as if he could hear the man’s excited heartbeat in his ears, Dominic moved his lips slowly.
“Juliet,”
The man paused for a moment. It was very satisfying to see the corners of his mouth, which had been holding a fake smile, stiffen. Dominic savored the man’s middle name in his mouth as he asked.
“Will you do anything if I want you to?”
“Anything.”
The man quickly shook off his shock and displeasure and answered. As expected of a lawyer, he snatched the prey in front of him in an instant and looked up at him challengingly. Dominic placed both hands on the table and leaned towards the man.
A slightly nervous breath touched his lips. It felt like he could taste it if he stuck out his tongue just a little. The plump, soft flesh was flushed red.
Dominic raised one hand and stroked the man’s dress shirt collar. The finger slowly moving along the line naturally brushed the man’s neck. Despite the blatant movement, the man didn’t flinch or show any discomfort, not even a twitch.
How much is this man willing to give up to close this deal?
Dominic noticed that his Pheromone scent had intensified in an instant. If this man were an Omega, he would have gone into heat immediately. Even if he were just a Beta, he would have blushed and been at a loss.
But still, he just stood upright without any reaction. All he was concerned about now was the distance between him and Dominic, which had become too close. Unaware that Dominic’s Pheromones were pouring all over his body.
The man’s eyelashes trembled hesitantly. When they were so close that even the air vibrations caused by that small movement felt like a fierce whirlwind.
“Chess.”
Dominic whispered.
For a moment, the man looked up at Dominic, bewildered. He blinked, half-doubting what he had heard, and finally opened his mouth after a few seconds of silence.
“Chess……?”
The word that came from his lips sounded like ‘sex.’ Suddenly feeling a heaviness below, Dominic looked at the man’s face.
“Yes, chess.”
While repeating the same word, he repeated the word ‘sex’ in his mouth. It wouldn’t be bad to have sex with this man. Juliet probably wouldn’t refuse. No, he couldn’t.
But he didn’t intend to go that far. This man is a Gamma. He wouldn’t get wet in the back like an Omega when having sex, and because of that, he would have to put in a tremendous amount of effort just to stick it in that measly hole. Just imagining him crying and wailing in pain made him feel like he wouldn’t be able to get an erection for the next 10 years.
All he wanted now was a little amusement to relieve this boredom. As long as it amused him more than seeing him cry after losing a trial, he was welcome to move law firms as much as he wanted.
“Chess…… and, what else do you want?”
The man, who had barely regained his composure, asked. He clearly thought this was the smallest of the requirements. Of course, it was only natural to think that, but he was wrong. Dominic smiled faintly and replied.
“That’s all.”
The man looked confused again. Was this person joking again? How long would he keep making these ridiculous jokes that weren’t funny at all? Seeing him reveal his thoughts as they were, Dominic leisurely straightened his back. Dominic continued to speak to the man, who seemed to have lost his words.
“The first person to win three games wins. If you beat me, I’ll move to your law firm as you wish. But if you lose, the offer is off the table.”
The man showed a clear sign of embarrassment and couldn’t continue speaking. Leaving him to quickly activate his brain, Dominic emptied his wine glass. Watching him pour himself a new drink directly into the glass, the man, unsure of what to do, moved his lips with difficulty.
“Um, well… I mean.”
Barely making a sound, he carefully asked, watching Dominic’s expression.
“All you want is, chess? With me? We, we have prepared much more than that…? A partner position, a private jet, a villa on A Street…”
Dominic, who had been listening absentmindedly to the conditions he continued to list, slowly opened his mouth when he stopped talking to take a breath.
“All I want is chess. Just with you.”
Seeing him at a loss for words, Dominic narrowed his eyes as if mocking him.
“Let me ask you, do you think your current company wouldn’t have offered those conditions you listed?”
“…No.”
The man answered reluctantly. Dominic brought the glass to his mouth and asked.
“What’s the chance that I won’t get what I want?”
“…None.”
He gave the same answer this time. With a somewhat sullen look.
Dominic drank the whiskey as if to show off. A somewhat uncomfortable time passed until he put the glass on the table. Juliet, who had moved his gaze along the empty glass, turned his reluctant gaze to the man’s face. Dominic leaned back in his chair and loosely placed his clasped hands on his thighs.
“There’s only one condition, you playing chess with me. If you don’t want to, it ends there.”
It was hard to believe, but there was no room for doubt. Juliet hesitated, wandering his gaze, and carefully opened his mouth.
“You mean, if I just play chess with you, you’ll come to our company? Without any other conditions?”
“On the premise that you win three times first.”
To make sure, he asked Dominic again, who emphasized the number of times once more as if to confirm.
“Our company is the best law firm in the United States. And you’re saying that if I just win at chess, you’ll come to our law firm? Rejecting the partner position and all other conditions?”
“I don’t need anything.”
Dominic’s answer was consistent. Juliet, who had been repeatedly checking out of impatience, had nothing more to say. He was lost in thought, creasing his brow with a serious face, but he couldn’t drag it out for long. In any case, he would have had to accept whatever conditions Dominic presented. He had prepared for the worst-case scenario, but chess was all it was, wasn’t it an unbelievable stroke of luck?
Whether he could win was a separate matter.
Dominic could clearly see the process of his thoughts moving rationally. The conflict faded from his face, and he seemed to have made up his mind as he raised his head.
“Then… from when?”
Dominic poured himself a drink and said to the reluctant question.
“Come in three days, at the same time as today.”
“I understand.”
Juliet answered this time without hesitation. There was no room for disagreement. From the beginning, he had come this far with the determination to accept any conditions.
“Then… I’ll see you in three days.”
Juliet paused as if to ask if there was anything else to say. Dominic simply raised his glass as if to toast him without saying anything else. And Juliet turned around as if deflated and left the penthouse. His whole body soaked in Dominic’s Pheromones.
