The colleagues, who had been blankly watching his retreating figure as he quickly left the bar, finally began to speak one by one after Dane had completely disappeared.
“Come to think of it, that bastard, I’ve never seen him dating a girlfriend.”
“Well, Dominant Alphas are known to be like that, but isn’t Dane actually worse? He’s just being dissolute for no reason.”
“He just doesn’t want to take responsibility.”
“Isn’t that the same thing, you idiot?”
“Is that how the conversation is going?”
Ezra tilted his head among them as they spoke incoherently.
“Why doesn’t Dane try to date? Even though he has sex.”
Words went back and forth again.
“Did he get burned badly in the past?”
“Are you saying Dane got his heart broken? By whom?”
“I don’t know, it’s just speculation.”
As expected, the conversation lost its way and flowed on without reaching a conclusion. The atmosphere was heated, and by the time they left the bar, everyone was staggering, completely drunk.
five
Damn it, goddamn it.
Grayson leaned against the fire truck, sitting with a fierce expression staring at the empty air. It had already been a month since he became a firefighter. In the meantime, he had slept with every woman in the fire station. He even had relations with a company employee at a place where he went for fire safety training, but all were in vain. None of them had a butterfly-shaped mole on their pelvis.
What the hell is going on?
Grayson rubbed his face with both hands irritably. Could it be that I was wrong? Was it just fainting, not because of the Pheromones? Well, it’s hard to even meet a Dominant Omega once in a lifetime, so how could I suddenly encounter them twice? If that’s the case, it must be someone around me, but it doesn’t make sense that I can’t find them like this.
From the beginning, he couldn’t even figure out why they caused him Pheromone Shock.
Until now, he had been excited by the belief that he had found his destiny, so he hadn’t thought deeply about that part, but now that it had come to this, regret and remorse followed.
Why the hell? And twice?
If he can’t find an answer to this, he can’t ignore the conclusion that he was barking up the wrong tree from the start. To be fooled by that quack Diviner and strike out again.
Until now, he had run away immediately, but he can’t do that this time. When he remembered the promise he made with Ashley, a groan escaped from deep within his throat. He was about to waste a year because of one mistake. Could there be anything more awful than this?
“Goddamn it.”
It was when he spat out another curse like a groan. He paused at the familiar music and took out his cell phone from his pocket to check the caller. As soon as he knew who it was, Grayson frowned, but he didn’t hang up.
“Hey, Stacy. What’s up? You’re calling me.”
He greeted his twin sibling, born five minutes apart, with a smooth voice, and she replied from the other side.
How’s it going? Is it going well? Any special events?
Grayson replied lightly to her unusually excited voice, as if she was expecting an exciting event.
“No, it’s not going well, but nothing happened. Everyone says it’s the most peaceful it’s ever been without any small wildfires.”
Oh, that’s too bad. How boring.
Stacy grumbled as if she was genuinely disappointed. To Grayson, who had no reaction, she soon changed her tone and asked.
So, what are you going to do? Have you already found your next target?
Stacy’s voice brightened as if she had regained interest. Of course, she only wanted one thing. She wanted to see Grayson fail again and be disappointed. She was also expecting the rejected partner to cause a ruckus, but Grayson’s answer was different from her expectations.
“No, not yet.”
You’re not giving up, are you?
Grayson replied slowly to her voice filled with suspicion.
“Of course not, never.”
He repeated Stacy’s words and added nonchalantly.
“I won’t give up. I’ll find them no matter how long it takes.”
A faint smile appeared on Grayson’s lips.
“My one and only love in the world.”
I hope you meet them soon, and tell me first.
If it were someone else, they would have taken it as warm encouragement and concern for their sibling’s future. But the other person was Stacy. Grayson knew that she was simply waiting with excitement for his twin to fail again and cause a mess, but he answered calmly.
“Of course, you’re my other half.”
Because they were fraternal twins, the words “other half” didn’t fit. But he shamelessly spouted words he didn’t mean, and Stacy, knowing this, also let out a strange laugh and replied.
I love you, Grayson.
“I love you, Stacy.”
They said the same words they didn’t mean to each other and ended the call, but their true feelings were completely different. After confirming that the call had ended, Grayson muttered with a blank face.
“Crazy bitch.”
He spat out a curse, but his mood didn’t improve at all. He ruffled his hair violently and then sighed.
What should I do now?
I have to be stuck here for the next year. There must be a way to get out of this predicament. Something, something.
“Should I set the fire station on fire?”
It was when he muttered seriously. He heard a clattering sound and turned his head to see Ezra looking at him with a pale face. When their eyes met, he was startled and didn’t know what to do, then quickly picked up the can he had dropped on the floor and left as if running away. Grayson stared blankly at his retreating figure, muttered a short curse, and turned his head again.
Ezra, who had been hiding behind the building watching him stroking his chin as if thinking it wasn’t a bad idea, hurriedly ran to the weight room.
Desire Me if you can
“That bastard, he’s dangerous.”
Ezra shouted as soon as he opened the door after rushing back to the weight room. The colleagues who were attached to their exercise equipment, building their bodies, looked at him with puzzled expressions at the sudden noise. Ezra pointed behind him with a pale face and continued.
“I was just getting a drink, and I saw Miller. And do you know what that bastard muttered to himself? He said he was going to set the fire station on fire!”
“What?”
“Really? That crazy bastard really?”
Everyone turned serious, detached themselves from the equipment, and stood facing him. Ezra nodded with a pale complexion and looked around.
“I’m serious, he looked like he was thinking about something with a serious face, and then he said that. I was so surprised that I couldn’t even ask him what he meant.”
The colleagues looked at each other with bewildered faces.
“What’s with this sudden nonsense?”
Someone asked, but no one could answer. Another guy ruffled his hair roughly and spat out nervously.
“Why would he suddenly set the fire station on fire, is he really crazy?”
“They say Pheromones can mess with your head, especially Dominant Alphas.”
“He sleeps with all the women here almost every day, and you’re saying his Pheromones are building up? Then we should just cut off his dick altogether, shouldn’t we?”
They were very excited and exchanged vicious words. What the hell is wrong with that bastard? Since then, no one in the fire station had touched Miller. Of course, they didn’t even talk to him, but Grayson wouldn’t care at all. In short, they were thoroughly drawing a line and ignoring each other as if they existed in different worlds.
But what Grayson had just said was clearly a provocation that crossed the line. They couldn’t let it pass. To dare to say he would set fire to the fire station that should be preventing fires? No way!
