37 – Cypress Mosaic

Dr. Drew Carver.

A specialist in pheromone endocrinology and a world-renowned authority, he was Lorenz’s personal pheromone physician. Previously, he had also served as the physician for Damon Lockhart.

Both Dr. Drew Carver’s mother and grandfather had made names for themselves as authorities in pheromone endocrinology, specifically in the field of special pheromone diseases, and had maintained a secret, close relationship with the Lockhart family for many years.

A disease without even a name.

PDD, a hereditary disease unique to the Lockhart family for which no treatment protocol or official academic report existed, was managed in secret solely through the Carver family.

The doctor, having meticulously recorded Lorenz’s condition in the chart, continued his questioning in his characteristic dry tone.

“Has there been any sudden change in your environment recently?”

“I moved my residence to my father’s estate, but that was over a month ago.”

“Have you started any new activities?”

“What could possibly be new? My daily life is always entirely consumed by work.”

“It doesn’t matter how trivial it may be.”

Lorenz searched through his recent life. Only one thing came to mind as a change.

“Due to the child my father adopted, a counselor has come to reside at the estate.”

“Are you referring to the issue with Lucas?”

“Correct.”

“And you’ve been stressed because of that counselor…”

“That is not it.”

Lorenz denied it firmly before the doctor could even finish his sentence.

He sat up completely, straightening the edges of his disheveled shirt.

“As you already know, my physical condition has actually been quite good recently.”

The doctor nodded.

Lorenz recorded his physical condition in an encrypted private app and shared it with Dr. Carver. This was to allow the doctor to track his progress without requiring frequent hospital visits. The pheromone response levels checked via a portable scanner were automatically registered in the app.

Not long ago, while Lorenz was talking with Elian in the study, the doctor Read on Read BL Novelshad called him because he [visit our site]had checked the [unauthorized copy]app records. The suddenly improved levels, occurring without any particular reason, had surprised Dr. Carver.

“And you’re saying it suddenly worsened to this extent?”

Lorenz nodded at the doctor’s question.

The doctor was busily scribbling something on the chart, but Lorenz knew all too well that there would be no new advice for him.

“As you know, with PDD, you must block out external stimuli as much as possible. Maintaining a regular, unchanging lifestyle is the best way to suppress the symptoms.”

As expected, the same story every time.

Even if he visited the hospital, the only thing he could get was a stronger dose of painkillers; there wasn’t much a primary physician could actually do. A fundamental cure didn’t even exist. Or rather, it was as if it didn’t exist.

Pheromone Defense Deficiency Syndrome.

Pheromone Defense Deficiency.

Also known as PDD.

Literally, an endocrine disorder where one cannot defend against the pheromones of others at all.

Alphas and Omegas naturally emit pheromones at a level between 20 and 30, even when taking suppressants. Because the amount is so minuscule, it is not a concentration high enough to cause sexual stimulation in one another.

However, a PDD patient sensitively detects even those minuscule pheromones. They do not detect them sexually. To them, the pheromones of the opposite sex are a foul stench and a source of pain. It can lead to headaches, dizziness, nausea, and in severe cases, fainting.

A normal Alpha perceives an Omega’s pheromones as an alluring scent, which stimulates their sexual desire. Exposure to strong pheromones, especially those of an Omega in Heat, leads them to a Rut.

But to a PDD patient, an Omega’s pheromones are nothing more than an unbearable stench, a virus that sickens the body.

Since Lorenz was also a Golden Alpha, he could control the emission of his own pheromones in everyday situations. However, when exposed to the strong pheromones of an Omega, even that defensive barrier failed to function properly.

A half-baked Alpha.

An Alpha with no reason to be an Alpha.

After checking the remaining amount of suppressant in the pack, the doctor removed the needle from Lorenz’s arm himself without calling a nurse. Lorenz roughly rubbed the site where the needle had been with gauze and tossed it into the trash can beneath the bed. He stepped off the bed while buttoning his shirt.

The doctor looked at him with a concerned gaze.

“Why don’t you rest a bit longer?”

“I don’t feel like I’m resting even while lying here. I want to go home.”

The moment the word ‘home’ left his lips, Elian Bellotti’s face came to mind. And the disappointment that he wouldn’t be there even if he went home immediately followed.

Because it was a thought that flashed through his mind instantaneously and very naturally, he didn’t even question why he was feeling such an emotion.

After tidying his clothes and putting on his jacket, Lorenz asked in a voice devoid of expectation.

“Any updated news?”

The doctor hesitated with a troubled expression before speaking.

“For now, we must consider that finding a partner whose pheromones can stabilize you is the only hope.”

Lorenz let out a cynical snort.

“The legendary flower, you mean.”

Having tidied even his hair in front of the mirror hanging on the wall, Lorenz turned to face the doctor.

“Does such a thing truly exist?”

“Mr. Lorenz, PDD is an extremely rare disease [visit our site]Read on Read BL Novelsthat is not found anywhere outside the Lockhart family.”

“……”

“I believe that if an extremely rare poison exists, then an extremely rare antidote to neutralize that poison may also exist.”

Considering the doctor’s usually cold and objective attitude toward patients and diseases, it was an explanation that sounded quite irrational. Yet, he faced his patient with a tone and expression that went beyond optimism, bordering on conviction.

Lorenz gave a bitter smile.

“With a probability of 0.01%, I assume.”

At those words, the doctor’s gaze drifted downward.

After shaking hands with the doctor and thanking him, Lorenz left the hospital room.

In the car returning to the estate visit our sitein the Upper East stolen contentSide, stolen contenthe thought about the ‘legendary flower.’

Pheromones that could quiet PDD.

A legendary flower whose scent no one had ever smelled.

Therefore, even if such pheromones were found, one might pass by them without knowing. To a worried Lorenz, his father had once said:

‘You don’t need to worry about that. The moment you smell it, you’ll know. That it is completely different from the pheromones of other Omegas.’

Lorenz didn’t bother to ask how his father could be so sure when he had never met such a person either. It was merely an antidote passed down like a legend in the Lockhart family.

Lorenz considered it a fake hope they had created.

And yet, he could not stop searching for those pheromones.

Outside the car window, Central Read on Read BL NovelsPark was slowly being submerged in [stolen content]the evening glow. unauthorized copyIt felt as if the entire park was engulfed in a giant blaze.

Lorenz contacted a private investigator.

He was a professional searcher who, under Lorenz’s orders, was scouring the world to find the ‘legendary flower.’

As expected, there was no significant news this time either.

In the meantime, the investigator had flown to Southeast Asia, South America, or Europe several times and brought back Omegas with very peculiar pheromones. However, it was a failure every time. Upon exposure to their pheromones, Lorenz immediately suffered from vomiting and extreme headaches.

Watching the flood of the sunset spreading across all of Manhattan, Lorenz gripped the armrest.

“Find it, no matter what. I don’t care how much it costs. If you find it, I will completely change your life.”

His red lips twisted as he emphasized once more.

“If it’s not in this visit our siteworld, search the Read on Read BL Novelsafterlife [stolen content]if you have to. Find the Cypress Mosaic.”
