“If you look… here they are. I think it’s this black car.”
“Can you zoom in?”
Hee-shin, who was checking the CCTV in the airport situation room, quickly noted the license plate of the black van in his notebook. Baepsae and Kang-min were on the phone as they approached the car, and as they got closer, the doors slid open and men dressed in black poured out.
Kang-min and Baepsae abandoned their luggage and bolted. The operator moved the screen, following their movements. Soon, after entering the airport terminal, Baepsae abruptly stripped off his pants. Though his face was covered by a hat and mask, his pale buttocks were clearly visible. Watching this, Kang Hee-shin was left speechless, a look of shock on his face.
In an instant, a crowd gathered, and people began filming from all directions. Nearby, the kidnappers in black suits hesitated. Even through the screen, it was obvious they were flustered. Airport police were deployed immediately, and the men who had been chasing them hurried back to the car they had arrived in.
The airport employee watching the screen beside him continued his explanation with relative composure.
“Since you mentioned it’s an urgent situation, we won’t take any other measures. However, there’s no way for us to stop the video from spreading.”
“No, that’s fine. Thank you for your cooperation. Would it be possible to get a separate copy of the CCTV recording?”
“I believe you’ll need a warrant for that.”
“Could we at least get the parts showing the van and the suspects’ faces?”
“Hmm…”
“I’m asking as a favor. As you know, it takes us a long time to wait for a warrant.”
After some deliberation, the official nodded.
“All right. I’ll report it to my superiors and get back to you.”
After asking for the favor several more times, Hee-shin turned and headed to the Airport Police Station office. He pulled out his ID and showed it to the officer, and upon being guided inside, he found Baepsae and Kang-min sitting side by side. Baepsae was wearing a T-shirt with a cute character on it, and Kang-min was wearing a sleeveless shirt—despite it not being mid-summer—which left the tattoos wrapping around his arms fully exposed. Both looked half-dazed, as if exhausted.
“Oh? You’re here?”
Kang-min greeted him first, while Baepsae sat beside him with a sullen expression, looking as if he were on the verge of tears. As Hee-shin approached, Baepsae held out his phone. Prosecutor. Can’t we sue all these bastards? Several short clips had already appeared on YouTube. XX Airport Butt Villain, Butt Pervert, Airport Flasher, Hip-President, Butt-Lord, Glute-Guy, and so on.
-Most shocking thing I’ve seen this year.
-F*ck, the algorithm brought me to a weird place again.
-The security guards must want to quit lol.
-I’m dying to see his face.
-This isn’t an AI video??
-The people filming have strong stomachs lol.
The comments were nothing but mockery. Hee-shin let out a deep sigh.
“Why on earth did you take off your pants…?”
Baepsae argued as if he were the victim.
“You told me to do whatever it takes, even if I have to take a sh*t!”
“You crazy bastard! That was an example, you idiot! You could have just taken off your shirt!”
“I told you I didn’t have time to make that judgment. You should have seen the look in their eyes. I really would have died if I’d been caught.”
Kang-min, sitting next to him, chimed in.
“Why are you being so hard on a kid who’s already discouraged? To put it bluntly, who do we have to thank for flying all the way to Vietnam?”
Hee-shin pressed his throbbing temples and checked the flight times at the airport. His first priority was to send them back on the earliest flight possible. However, Baepsae adamantly refused.
“We aren’t going! We’re staying in Korea.”
“Why!”
“Will we be safe if we go back?”
“…….”
“It was definitely the Prosecutor’s voice. And the face. If they can even make a deepfake call, it’s only a matter of time before they figure out our location. If I’m going to die, I want to die in my own country. I don’t want to die in a foreign land.”
“And you’ll be safe here?”
Baepsae hesitated.
“Wouldn’t it be okay if we stayed at the Prosecutor’s house? I mean, he’s a prosecutor; surely they wouldn’t come all the way to his house to kill us?”
Kang-min cut in again.
“Right. Since he caused this mess, he should take responsibility.”
Ha, damn it. Hee-shin closed his eyes tightly. Since the people in the police station were watching with great interest, he first took custody of them and then led them to a taxi. Throughout the journey, he remained vigilant of their surroundings, preparing for any possible incident.
“Why are we going there? Where’s your car, Prosecutor?”
“Don’t ask.”
“Did you sell it?”
“Yes, I sold it to send you two to Vietnam. Happy now?”
They took a taxi, and the meter climbed frighteningly fast. Sitting in the passenger seat, Hee-shin stared out the window with a vacant expression. He felt a complex mix of relief that they were safe and a sense of helplessness at the fact that he now had to look after them.
These people can break into a house and take photos while someone is sleeping; would it really be that hard to kill them?
However, Kang-min and Baepsae didn’t seem worried at all.
“Hey, Baepsae. There are some good comments here too. They say your butt is pretty. They’re calling you ‘Peach Boy’.”
“Really? Actually, I’m not confident about other parts, but I’ve heard a lot that my butt is sexy.”
“Wow—aren’t you going to become a YouTube star?”
“Maybe I should make some money off this?”
Listening silently to their conversation, Kang Hee-shin shook his head. Carefree bastards. At the same time, he thought. Who instigated this? It must be the person who suffered the most damage from these two… Only one face came to mind. The master of the chessboard. The one who planned all of this…
They arrived near his house, and as he paid the fare with his card, he wept tears of blood internally. Afterward, as he entered the house by punching in the passcode, the two of them frowned from the entrance.
“You should clean up a bit. Are those all liquor bottles?”
“Stop talking and just come in. Unpack and wash your hands first.”
“Ah, look at the dust. I wonder if washing my hands even matters…?”
“What’s the point of having a polished face? This place is a total crime scene.”
“Both of you, shut up.”
When he glared at them, the two clamped their mouths shut. He was already overwhelmed, and now he had baggage. Of course, since they ended up like this while helping him, he couldn’t complain. But could he truly take responsibility for them in this situation?
He irritably ruffled his hair and went to the kitchen. Still, they were [unauthorized copy]guests in his home, so he wanted to give them something. He was making instant coffee without [unauthorized copy]a word when he heard muffled voices from the living room.
“Kang-min Hyung, what are you doing?”
“Smoking.”
“Go outside to smoke. Who smokes inside these days…?”
“Who cares. It’s the Prosecutor’s house anyway.”
Baepsae whispered, lowering his voice.
“This isn’t the Prosecutor’s house. It’s a lease.”
“A lease?”
“Yeah. 80% loan.”
“Wow, even I, who lived my life at rock bottom, have my own house in Seoul.”
“Shh. Be quiet. He’ll feel bad if he hears.”
“Isn’t a prosecutor’s salary high?”
“I guess it’s lower than you’d think.”
“Then he should have pocketed some money under the table. It’s not like he’s some incredibly conscientious and honest prosecutor.”
“My thoughts exactly.”
Stirring the coffee, Hee-shin ground his teeth. Those bastards… I should have just let them die. He momentarily considered childishly gathering spit to spit into the coffee, but decided against it and walked to the table to set down two cups of coffee.
“Stop chatting and come eat.”
Just then, the doorbell rang. The three of them, looking tense, stared in that direction simultaneously like meerkats. After signaling them to be quiet, he walked to the intercom. Seeing the face on the screen, Hee-shin’s eyes widened in surprise.
“…Huh?”
Jang Seon-woo’s face appeared on the screen.
When he cautiously opened the door, Jang Seon-woo gave a polite bow.
“…What are you doing here? Why did you come?”
“I saw you were home. I met a friend nearby and was worried if you were eating well.”
“No, how do you know where my house is…?”
“I asked Senior Park. I’m sorry.”
He then held out a shopping bag. It was bossam. At that moment, Baepsae and Kang-min peeked from behind him. Who is it? Who’s that? A look of wariness entered Jang Seon-woo’s eyes as he looked at them.
It was understandable. One was covered in tattoos, and the other was wearing a T-shirt with a cute anime character.
Hee-shin scratched the bridge of his nose. He was flustered by unauthorized copythe unannounced visit, but he felt too bad to Read on Read BL Novelstell him to leave immediately.
“…Since you’re here, do you want to have some coffee?”
“May I?”
Hee-shin had expected a refusal, but he readily agreed. He had thought the guy was quick-witted despite being quiet…
Since it had come to this, it would be awkward to tell him to leave, so he eventually let Jang Seon-woo inside.
“Come in….”
Im Gyeong slowly lifted the long sword. With oil applied to a soft cloth, he wiped the blade from top to bottom without a single tremor. His movements were precise and sincere, like someone performing a ritual.
As the faint traces on the blade disappeared, his mind also found peace. When he raised the sword to eye level and let the light hit it, the silver surface sparkled with every change in angle. After a moment, a pair of indifferent eyes were reflected on the smooth blade. As he looked at it, he heard footsteps.
Looking up, he saw Tatsuki, who had been staying on the first floor, coming up.
As soon as he arrived, Tatsuki bowed his head.
“I apologize. We lost them at the airport.”
Im Gyeong had ordered him to find and eliminate the person who hacked his phone and the person who helped bring down Chief Prosecutor Cho. He told him to bring them in from abroad by any means necessary and deal with them. It seemed there had been a setback.
He replied with an indifferent expression, tracing the blade.
“Catch them again. And kill them.”
Tatsuki looked troubled. Im Gyeong realized there was another problem.
“I am told that Mr. Kang Hee-shin came to the airport and took them.”
“Took them? Where?”
“To Mr. Kang Hee-shin’s house.”
Im Gyeong’s previously indifferent face suddenly contorted.
“He let men into his house?”
“…….”
“He let men into his house?”
Tatsuki realized that this conversation had gone wrong. Im Gyeong wasn’t angry because he missed his targets; he was furious that they had gone to Kang Hee-shin’s house. Strength surged into the hand gripping the sword. As Im Gyeong slowly rose from his seat, Tatsuki stepped forward and took the scabbard.
“Please give it to me. I will put it away.”
Im Gyeong kept his gaze lowered, still holding the sword.
“Prepare the car.”
“Tea to drink?”
“Tatsuki. Stop pretending to be clueless.”
Tatsuki let out a low sigh. While he was putting the sword away, Im Gyeong headed to the bathroom to wash. Perhaps because he was in a hurry, he stripped off his clothes as he walked. Though he didn’t have a face on the back of his head, Tatsuki could imagine the expression.
Suddenly, he stopped and looked back.
“By the way, what about Kang Min-hye?”
“I have sent people there as well.”
Im Gyeong disappeared inside without further questioning. Left alone, Tatsuki sighed and looked down at the sword in his hand. As he drew the sword from the scabbard, the engraved characters “No Retreat” caught his eye.
This was the sword given to Im Gyeong by his father, Chairman Yoon, on the day he was born. Im Gyeong had lived his entire life according to these characters. A life of never stepping back from the things he chose for himself.
However, for this one time, Tatsuki could only hope and pray that he would step back.
