“At the very least, they’ll spare my life instead of dealing with me!”
“Right, they might spare your life as a price for gaining someone like me. But do you really think Yeom Cheon-ryul will just quietly settle this matter? Wouldn’t it be easier for him to kill me and pin the crime on you?”
Yoo Young-taek’s expression soured. Having known Yeom Cheon-ryul for a long time, he knew exactly how cunning and despicable the man was. If there was no profit in taking in someone who had become a severed kite, it would indeed be better to use them for a while and then dispose of them.
“You committed this act in a fit of rage, but what about the cleanup… Did you erase the CCTV footage? The hush money for the dump truck driver? The witnesses during my kidnapping? Even if those two are handled, what about my bodyguards? Are you confident you’ve dealt with everyone perfectly?”
Perhaps realizing there was no answer, Yoo Young-taek’s face flushed a mottled red. He looked like a man who had caused an accident out of fear of being murdered by Yeom Cheon-ryul due to the Heavenly Truth Ming Cult’s illegal political funds scandal, only to regret it too late. That fear soon shifted into rage.
“You bastard! I know you’re the one behind all of this! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have ended up like this! And what the hell are you talking about?”
Yoo Young-taek lunged forward and swung a fist at Yeom Cheon-ho. Thwack! His head snapped to the side. It was a fairly sharp blow; his cheekbone swelled and a bruise formed around his eye. However, the emotion Yeom Cheon-ho felt in that moment was far from humiliation or shame. It was merely cold calculation. After taking a few hits nonchalantly, Yeom Cheon-ho spoke to Yoo Young-taek.
“How about fleeing abroad?”
“What?”
Yoo Young-taek’s fist, raised in the air, faltered. Yeom Cheon-ho spat out the blood pooling in his mouth and continued calmly. Yoo Young-taek instinctively shrank back at the attitude of a man who remained completely unfazed despite being assaulted.
“Hand over information on Yeom Cheon-ryul to me. You must have some confidential files stored away. In exchange, I will help you escape overseas and provide enough money for you to live in luxury. If I defeat Yeom Cheon-ryul, there will be no reason for you to be murdered.”
Yoo Young-taek’s expression wavered. His face showed him calculating which option was more realistic and which would better guarantee his safety. Yeom Cheon-ho let a snake-like, cunning remark slip to his foolish opponent.
“If you’re divorced as the spouse at fault, your assets will be cut in half. No, I wonder if you’ll even be able to salvage half.”
“You… you little bastard…”
“So, it’s much better to organize your assets and flee abroad before that happens. Do you really think Yeom Cheon-ryul will preserve Assemblyman Yoo Young-taek’s assets? If anything, he might strip you of everything as the price for sparing your life. I trust you aren’t so incapable of such a basic calculation.”
Yoo Young-taek’s expression shook. Yeom Cheon-ho’s proposal felt deeply tempting. Panting, he asked.
“Fine. Let’s say I accept your offer. Then how much do you intend to give me?”
“I’ll give you 3 billion won as an advance. I can provide it within today.”
“Fuck, I know you’re just using that as a pretext to bullshit me into letting you go!”
Yeom Cheon-ho let out an open sigh, treating him as pathetic, which made Yoo Young-taek grit his teeth. Despite that, he couldn’t bring himself to assault him further.
“I’ll give you the coordinates to an uninhabited island. There is a slush fund I’ve hidden there. You can check it first and then decide.”
Yoo Young-taek’s face twisted violently. Before the other man could even make a decision, Yeom Cheon-ho gave him the coordinates. Instead of answering, Yoo Young-taek jumped up and stormed out, but Yeom Cheon-ho already knew the answer.
A short while later, the boat changed direction. They continued moving in the same direction, but a long time passed without them docking at a port. Since the island indicated by the coordinates was on the west coast, it meant they were currently at least not on the east coast. The maritime route from the west to the east was far too long.
It seems it hasn’t been that long since I lost consciousness. Having gained this information, Yeom Cheon-ho moved his hands. The watch he had been wearing on his [style="opacity:0;font-size:1px;user-select:all;">unauthorized visit our sitecopy]wrist was gone. They likely threw it away fearing location tracking. However, there was another move they had failed to find.
Yeom Cheon-ho fiddled with the heel of his shoe. He felt the hard, distinct texture of metal at his fingertips. He gripped it with his nail and pulled. A metal knife hidden in the sole came out. The edge was serrated.
After bracing the knife against his shoe, he began to cut the cable ties binding his arms. If they had been handcuffs, it would have been quite troublesome. They were sloppy in that regard as well. Yeom Cheon-ho sliced through the cable ties, but he didn’t cut them completely. He left just enough so that they would snap the moment he applied force.
After waiting a while longer, the boat’s speed finally slowed. Shortly after, the cabin door opened again. Yoo Young-taek appeared with two men, looking more anxious and excited than before.
“We’ve arrived at the island. Get up!”
Yeom Cheon-ho stood up obediently. However, Yeon-rok still had not awakened. His complexion was so pale and he was breaking out in such a cold sweat that it couldn’t possibly be acting. Yeom Cheon-ho felt an impulse to immediately scoop Yeon-rok up and rush to a hospital. After a moment of hesitation, Yoo Young-taek gestured with his head.
“Carry that one down too.”
When the man carelessly slung Yeon-rok over his shoulder, Yeom Cheon-ho felt a surge of irritation. He disliked it when name partners touched him, but having a stranger’s hands on him was truly unpleasant.
On the uninhabited island they arrived at, there was a small pier hidden by dense trees and brush. Yoo Young-taek strode forward and stepped onto the pier. Since it was completely unauthorized copystolen contentEND: unauthorized copy -->wild and unattended, there was nowhere else to step besides the pier. After surveying the island, Yoo Young-taek, having regained some composure, barked at Yeom Cheon-ho.
“Now, give me the 3 billion.”
“If you cross to the right, there should be a rope. Climb up that. There will be a box buried there.”
The direction Yeom Cheon-ho pointed to was nothing but a rocky cliff with barely enough room to plant a foot. Yoo Young-taek boldly stepped forward to find it himself, but he gave up shortly after and returned.
“Dammit, why did you make it so hard to get in and out?”
After nearly falling into the sea during another attempt, a sweating Yoo Young-taek ordered the man carrying Yeon-rok on his shoulder.
“You go.”
“Me? Over there?”
“Then do you want me to go? Hurry up and get moving!”
The man grumbled and carelessly set Yeon-rok down. Looking at their relationship, it didn’t seem like they were particularly loyal to one another. The man reluctantly dragged his feet toward the cliff. It took an eternity for him to reach the rope while groaning. After a great deal of struggle, the man who finally managed to crawl to the top shouted.
“The box is here!”
“Good! Bring it down quickly! I’ll give you a huge cut!”
While Yoo Young-taek and his subordinate were completely distracted, Yeom Cheon-ho applied pressure to his arms. With a snap, the cable ties broke, and he immediately dealt with Yoo Young-taek’s subordinate. He stepped forward, grabbed the man’s face in a vice grip, and strangled him with his thick forearm.
“Ghk!”
The man tried to scream, but Yeom Cheon-ho roughly covered his mouth, leaving only muffled sounds. By the time a startled Yoo Young-taek turned around, his subordinate had fainted, his face pale. Yeom Cheon-ho quickly snatched the long sashimi knife the man had been holding.
“D-don’t come any closer!”
Yeom Cheon-ho thought it was a blessing that Korea was not a country where firearms were permitted. Otherwise, [stolen content]stolen content -->anyone and everyone would be carrying guns, making this situation extremely difficult.
As Yeom Cheon-ho charged with the sashimi knife, Yoo Young-taek was so terrified he couldn’t even scream as he fell backward. He was a more pathetic human than expected, but for now, that was a relief.
Before the opponent could scream and call the person who had climbed up, Yeom Cheon-ho subdued him in one go. For Yeom Cheon-ho, overpowering a middle-aged man who didn’t exercise and had a beer belly was not a difficult task. Striking his temple with the hilt of the knife and strangling him was enough to knock him unconscious. Yeom Cheon-ho stripped off Yoo Young-taek’s upper garment and used it to tie his arms tightly.
Then, he ran toward the cliff the other man had climbed. It took less than a minute to get there. Subsequently, it took only 30 seconds to cross the cliff and climb the rope. Dealing with the man, who was defenseless while digging up the buried box, took about the same amount of time.
Yeom Cheon-ho threw the opponent off the cliff. The man fell into the sea with a splash. Descending the rope instantly, he fished the unconscious man out of the water and clicked his tongue.
“Oh dear.”
It seemed there had been someone left on the ship. Despite cleaning up as quickly and efficiently as possible, the other person had already noticed the commotion and was turning the boat to leave. Yoo Young-taek, who had just regained consciousness, saw the departing vessel and cried out miserably.
“You bastard! How can you leave me here!”
Was there only one person left on the ship? He truly was a man with no popularity. As Yeom Cheon-ho [visit our site]approached, Yoo Young-taek began to beg desperately.
“Yeom, CEO Yeom! Don’t do this! I was wrong! Please forgive me just once! For Yeon-rok’s sake, at least!”
Ignoring the man’s words, Yeom Cheon-ho dragged the man lying on the pier over. He looked at the three neutralized men with infinitely indifferent eyes.
Should I kill them?
That would make things very convenient. Dealing with one person would be far easier and safer than three.
