“Ah, it’s just that things get difficult if I don’t let it out regularly.”
In an instant, the memory of their messy, private parties resurfaced in my mind. I narrowed my eyes and sneered.
“So, not only do you leak pheromones constantly, but you do that every single week?”
Nathaniel offered, showing no sign of offense.
“I can send you an invitation if you’d like.”
“I’ll pass.”
I spat the words out, glaring at him.
“I’ve seen enough of how little you value Omegas. I have no desire to join in.”
For the first time, he reacted.
“I value Omegas little? An Omega gave birth to me.”
The look on his face as he chuckled seemed genuinely bewildered. Dominant Alphas are usually born from Dominant Omegas. There was no arguing that he was a top-tier stud, a thoroughbred born from the union of a Dominant Alpha and a Dominant Omega. Nathaniel corrected me as if my words were laughable.
“I don’t despise Omegas; I despise inferior beings.”
For the first time, I was speechless. He was trampling over others with such utter indifference. As if it were the most natural thing in the world.
To him, it didn’t matter whether someone was an Omega or a Beta. Even if the opponent were a fellow Dominant Alpha, his attitude would not change. Whether one possessed power or not—that was the only criterion for his judgment.
I recalled the arrogant gaze looking down at me while I lay sprawled on the floor.
If this man were ever murdered, the culprit would be me. If I had a gun in my hand right now, I would have shot that arrogant head without hesitation.
Unable to bear his pheromones any longer, I pulled out a cigarette. I lit it right in front of him and took a long drag. As the acrid smoke filled my lungs and then receded, the scent that had been lingering suffocatingly in the air vanished into the distance. Feeling a bit more satisfied, I regained my composure.
“What brings you to visit an inferior Beta so early in the day? Unless your law firm went bankrupt and you’re looking for an empty office.”
I asked pointedly, my tone stiff. Nathaniel looked at my face, where traces of the assault still remained, with an intrigued expression before speaking.
“Your face is more intact than I expected.”
“What, are you disappointed?”
I asked, almost lunging at him. I had struggled all weekend taking painkillers and trying to bring down the swelling—how is this ‘intact’? He acts so high and mighty as a Dominant Alpha, but he must be blind.
There was no need to ask how he was doing. There was a cane within Nathaniel’s reach. Since his leg was injured, it would be difficult for him to walk without it.
It would have been a perfect fit if a snake or a crocodile had been carved into the handle, but disappointingly, it was an antique silver cane. While I felt a secret pang of regret, Nathaniel asked back, completely indifferent to my hostility.
“Have you never had sex before?”
I flinched at the sudden question, and Nathaniel continued as if it were impossible.
“It’s just intercourse, isn’t it? You’re not a virgin, so why are you being so guarded with your body?”
Blood rushed to my head in an instant.
“I—”
My voice trembled so much that I swallowed hard and then exhaled sharply.
“I’m never going to be forced into it again.”
Ah.
By the time I realized I had made a mistake, it was too late. I hurriedly shut my mouth, but Nathaniel was staring at me with a furrowed brow.
“‘Again’?”
I forced myself to stop avoiding his gaze and glared at him.
“I only do it with people I want to.”
Realizing the implication, Nathaniel gave a thin smile.
“Did you hate sleeping with me that much?”
“I hated having things done to me that I didn’t want,” I corrected him firmly.
Then, he asked persistently.
“That sounds like you didn’t mind sleeping with me.”
For some reason, I found myself at a loss for words and fell silent. Nathaniel, who had been watching me until then, suddenly reached out. His cool fingers touched my face without warning.
I nearly dropped my cigarette. As I looked at him, unable to hide my expression, Nathaniel slowly tucked a strand of hair behind my ear with an indifferent face. His long, elegant fingers slowly stroked my ear, which bore no mark. His thumb and index finger caressed the rim of my ear with clear intent. Under his gaze as he stared at the ear in his hand, it became difficult for me to breathe.
When his hand moved to the back of my head and pulled me toward him, I was unable to resist and was simply dragged along helplessly.
“………….”
Nathaniel buried his nose in my hair and took a deep breath. My heart began to race wildly. My hands felt numb and my vision seemed to go dark, so I closed my eyes. Ah, he sighed softly against my ear.
“You really are a Beta,” Nathaniel whispered in a somewhat bitter tone.
When he lowered his lips and gently bit the rim of my ear, my lower body suddenly stiffened. His low voice sank into my ear along with his breath.
“If you had been an Omega, I would have gotten you pregnant back then.”
If he had kissed me at that moment, I would have slept with him. I couldn’t remember what Nathaniel had done to me or how much I hated him. Only sexual desire for him boiled throughout my body, and for a moment, my only wish was to lie back on this cumbersome desk and thoroughly lick and embrace his naked body.
Ah, truly, if I could have sex with him right now, I felt that giving up everything I owned would not be a waste.
By the time Nathaniel let me go, my entire body felt languid, as if I had already slept with him several times. As I slowly opened my eyes, Nathaniel’s face appeared in my blurred vision. Would he kiss me? Would our lips meet? Would that wet tongue stir everything inside my mouth?
Nathaniel gently stroked my face, which was flushed with longing. He seemed to be smiling faintly. He lowered his hand while looking at me. I didn’t even notice until his hand touched mine.
…Eh?
He took the cigarette from between my fingers. I watched blankly as the cigarette I had been smoking was held firmly between his lips.
A red spark flashed for a moment, and then he exhaled a long cloud of smoke. However, there was no smell of tobacco. All I could sense was a fragrance so sweet it made my brain tingle.
Nathaniel’s pheromones were pouring over me like a waterfall.
He moved. I saw Nathaniel lean on his cane.
He straightened his back and lightly tapped the cane against the floor. A sharp, inorganic clicking sound echoed. Nathaniel smiled with the cigarette still in his mouth. With my mind still hazy, I struggled desperately to regain my reason.
“Your precious pheromones… they don’t work on me. Because I’m a Beta.”
At those words, he gave a short laugh.
