The Executive Office of the Myeongjun Financial Group.
Knock, knock. Secretary Park knocked on the door before entering. He stepped forward, looking at Han Seung-jae sitting at the desk. Han Seung-jae was reviewing documents rapidly without even glancing up.
Two groups of people had visited this morning seeking investment, but all of them had left after receiving nothing but scathing criticism from Han Seung-jae.
“I have just received word that Mr. Seo Yi-kyung has departed for Haseon Hospital.”
At the mention of Seo Yi-kyung’s name, Han Seung-jae set his pen upright and leaned deep into his chair. He checked the time on his wristwatch.
“And I have already informed the attending physician in advance.”
Secretary Park added the comment as if he had keenly sensed Han Seung-jae’s intentions. There was no way Butler Do hadn’t contacted the physician upon leaving the house, but Secretary Park calling once more to confirm was a way of demonstrating just how much Han Seung-jae cared.
As Han Seung-jae seemed lost in thought for a moment, Secretary Park bowed. Thinking that no further instructions would be given, he was about to turn and leave.
“I wonder if they’ll conduct a genetic test once the child is born.”
Secretary Park straightened his back and answered.
“They likely will. They mentioned that by adding a few other tests, the manifestation status can also be clearly determined.”
“Tell them to bring the results to me first.”
“The physician is a quick-witted person, so I don’t think you need to worry about that part.”
Until now, the attending physician had reported Seo Yi-kyung’s condition to Han Seung-jae first, and then delivered the information to his father, Han Ye-chan, following Han Seung-jae’s instructions.
The physician knew that the rewards for the future would be more certain from Han Seung-jae, who handled matters personally, than from Representative Han, who merely sent Chief Secretary Kang Min-soo.
However, it wasn’t that Han Seung-jae was unaware of this fact that he mentioned it to Secretary Park once more.
“I will tell the physician to ensure there are no mistakes.”
“Do that.”

Haseon Hospital.
In front of the building, the attending physician gripped his phone tightly after finishing a call with Secretary Park. Secretary Park’s words, which sounded more like a demand, echoed in his ears.
—After conducting the genetic test, please contact me once the results are out.
Followed by the voice of Chief Secretary Kang Min-soo.
—As soon as the baby is born, start with the tests. Oh, and don’t forget to definitely test whether the child is certainly Director Han’s. Once this matter is wrapped up well, getting into Representative Han’s good graces will be a piece of cake, so let’s finish this properly until the end.
The physician’s gaze landed on one spot. It was toward a sedan entering the hospital.
Soon, the car slowed down and stopped in front of the physician. Butler Do stepped out of the passenger seat and greeted him.
“You were already out here? I hurried a bit because I thought the traffic would be heavy if it overlapped with the quitting time.”
“It’s quite alright. Since he is pregnant, he might suffer from motion sickness if he stays in the car too long, so you did well.”
The physician slid his phone into the pocket of his white coat and turned slightly. As Butler Do opened the rear door of the sedan, Seo Yi-kyung appeared, looking so transparent he seemed pale.
“Are you experiencing any discomfort?”
The physician began to meticulously examine Seo Yi-kyung’s complexion the moment he stepped out of the car.
A faint smile played on Seo Yi-kyung’s lips.
“Thanks to you, nothing hurts.”
“Then that is a relief.”
The words “nothing hurts” had never sounded so sweet. The physician’s face, which had been tense, relaxed instantly.
Seo Yi-kyung and the physician climbed the stairs. Butler Do and the driver, carrying a bag, followed behind.
At the elevator, the driver handed the bag to Butler Do and turned back.
The physician stepped into the arriving elevator first and pressed the button. Seo Yi-kyung slowly entered and took his place.
Secretary Park’s words and Chief Secretary Kang’s words were not different in meaning at all.
Both of them likely wanted to know first whether the child Seo Yi-kyung gave birth to would be an Alpha or an Omega. Furthermore, Representative Han Ye-chan suspected whether the child Seo Yi-kyung bore truly carried Han Seung-jae’s blood.
The physician was not unaware that Representative Han Ye-chan met and slept with various Omegas. Why else would there be no other children carrying Han Ye-chan’s blood in the world besides Han Seung-jae?
When the elevator reached the upper floor and the doors opened, the physician stepped out first. He led Seo Yi-kyung to a VIP room that had been fully prepared in advance.
He opened the door and stepped back so that Seo Yi-kyung could enter first and survey the interior of the room.
“This is the place. If there is anything uncomfortable during your stay, please tell me immediately.”
Butler Do, carrying the bag, entered behind Seo Yi-kyung. The physician watched Seo Yi-kyung’s back as he looked around the room and approached the window.
Because Seo Yi-kyung’s body was exceptionally weak, the physician had previously advised Han Seung-jae to have him hospitalized about a week before the due date. It was a judgment that it would be better than having him alone at home and coming to the hospital after experiencing unexpected labor pains. More accurately, he had told this to Secretary Park.
However, Secretary Park had relayed Han Seung-jae’s answer: no.
First, he claimed that hospital beds were too flimsy. He further added that the food was abysmal.
The physician’s jaw had dropped the entire time he heard those words over the phone.
—Isn’t that just how hospitals are? Please tell him to take that into consideration. And above all, isn’t the patient’s health the most important thing? Please emphasize that point again.
—That will be difficult.
Secretary Park had flatly refused, as if it were pointless to even try talking to Han Seung-jae. After all, Han Seung-jae had stayed in a hospital with Seo Yi-kyung before. He had mentioned his own firsthand experience with the hospital environment.
Because of that, the physician had let out a long sigh, unable to find any further arguments.
“…Do you like the room?”
He had selected the room with the best view out the window so it wouldn’t feel suffocating, but it was still a hospital. Thus, it was similar to any other. Nevertheless, the physician carefully observed Seo Yi-kyung’s reaction as he stood by the window. Seo Yi-kyung simply nodded with a faint smile, without saying much.
The physician breathed a sigh of relief, keeping it hidden. Perhaps the feeling that the bed was crude and the food was meager only applied to Han Seung-jae. Seo Yi-kyung did not express preferences for such things.
However, it was impossible not to follow Han Seung-jae’s wishes. In the end, he had only sent Seo Yi-kyung to the hospital right before the due date.
“Please get some rest. Once you change your clothes, we plan to conduct a few tests.”
After a brief exchange, the physician turned away, repeatedly moistening his dry lips. A due date is, after all, just an estimate. Yet, Han Seung-jae, having heard the date from the physician, seemed to think the child would be born on that exact day.
‘If, by any chance, the baby comes before the due date.’
Just imagining it turned the physician’s face ashen. He shook his head and closed the door to the room.
‘He’ll say my abilities are only that much and heap all the blame on me.’
That, in itself, would be a great ordeal for the physician.

“Whew…”
Having finished changing into patient clothes, Seo Yi-kyung perched on the sofa. Just entering the room seemed to drain all the energy from his body. He had the illusion that he felt even worse than before.
Just then, there was a knock, and the door opened. It was Butler Do. He entered carrying a fruit basket he had received from the driver and things for Seo Yi-kyung to eat and drink.
Butler Do filled the refrigerator with things Seo Yi-kyung enjoyed. Seo Yi-kyung had always been a picky eater, but as his stomach grew, the amount he could eat had decreased significantly. He organized everything inside so that whatever Seo Yi-kyung asked for could be provided immediately.
Seo Yi-kyung turned his head to look at the clock on the wall. Seeing this, Butler Do spoke, though his hands did not stop moving.
“Secretary Park said he would call before we departed.”
Seo Yi-kyung forced his gaze toward the window and scratched his stiff cheek. His sunken complexion must have appeared as a sign of anxiety to Butler Do.
However, Butler Do wasn’t wrong.
When he had left the house, the weather had been so lovely that it felt as though he were simply heading out for a long-awaited excursion. But it was true that as the hospital building began to come into view from afar, the relaxed smile Yi-kyung had maintained began to fade.
