“Didn’t you know? That Georgina and Charlotte visited the mansion and played with Angela.”
Didn’t the Butler tell him?
Even if he hadn’t told him at the time, Charlotte had suddenly come to harm Yu-jin, so the events of the past would have been conveyed to him belatedly. As Yu-jin wondered inwardly, Winston didn’t hide his displeasure and distorted his face.
“I knew.”
“Then what’s with that reaction?”
This time, Yu-jin frowned. Winston stared at him silently for a while before slowly opening his mouth.
“I was wondering if you were close enough to contact Georgina separately. Even without Charlotte.”
There was a strange nuance in his words. Yu-jin blinked a few times before finally realizing.
“Don’t tell me you suspected me and Charlotte of having an affair?”
His voice was louder than usual in shock. He was so dumbfounded that he couldn’t even speak properly. But Winston said calmly.
“I heard there are women who prefer male Omegas. Because no evidence of infidelity remains.”
“Ha.”
Yu-jin sighed out loud. So this man is saying that I had an affair with his sister-in-law?
“Aren’t you satisfied with just insulting me now?”
He tried to be as sarcastic as possible, but Winston frowned and asked back.
“She’s the woman who tried to kill you, why are you protecting her?”
His attitude was even more suspicious. Yu-jin wasn’t even angry anymore.
“You’re hopeless, Winston Campbell.”
He added without pausing.
“You don’t trust anyone’s words, but you believe the stories about my debauchery so well?”
At this point, he wondered how he had received the information from the Butler. If he had such thoughts without any basis, he would have to seriously consider whether he really had delusions.
“It’s you who will be at a disadvantage if we argue about right and wrong.”
“What?”
Yu-jin coldly presented the reality to Winston, who immediately frowned.
“You should remember the contents of the will clearly, right? My chastity wasn’t in the will.”
Winston froze visibly at that moment. Seeing that reaction, Yu-jin thought for the first time that he liked the contents of the will.
“It means I can play around with whoever, however, and as much as I want. Unlike you.”
He deliberately emphasized the last words, enunciating them clearly. As he returned Winston’s words from some time ago, his eyes were dyed black with anger.
“Don’t talk nonsense!”His eyes, which had seemed to turn as black as night, gradually became tinged with gold. It was a visual representation of Winston’s rage. It felt as though he was witnessing the fury Winston had displayed when Charlotte tried to kill Yu-jin, but this time the target was different.
Yu-jin felt a chill run down his spine and goosebumps all over his body from the immense anger directed at him, but he couldn’t detect any pheromone scent. This gave Yu-jin another surge of courage. Moreover, unlike back then, Winston was standing still, not moving an inch. Somehow, Yu-jin was certain that he wouldn’t lay a finger on him. Thanks to that, he became bold enough to raise his head and look directly at Winston.
“Considering your will, you’re the one who should be reprimanded right now, not me.”
“Nonsense…”
“You think I didn’t know you went to the party? I could smell Omega pheromones all over you.”
Winston fell silent at the relentless words. His expression didn’t change, but Yu-jin felt that Winston had paused. Could it be that he hadn’t expected this attack? But Yu-jin continued, unfazed.
“Going to a pheromone party was also forbidden, wasn’t it? You were planning to brazenly break the rules and just move on, but if you want to act so shamelessly, you shouldn’t say anything about me. That’s your weakness, but not mine.”
He even gave a faint smile at the end. While speaking, many emotions and thoughts were sorted out within him. In the end, that man was going down the same path as Harold, whom he hated so much.
Harold must have known that Winston went to pheromone parties. It was impossible for nothing to have happened there. Yu-jin also knew what that meant. Harold had also gone to pheromone parties during his lifetime. Even though he had a wife, because she was a Beta.
“In the end, you’ll live just like your father.”
He felt somewhat bitter, but Winston nonchalantly asked back.
“Is there a problem?”
It was a question with various meanings mixed in. Somewhat self-deprecating.
Do I really need to think about that?
Yu-jin shrugged and changed the subject.
“Anyway, that’s how it is. Now that I’m much better, let me go out.”
Winston silently stared at him, not opening his mouth, at the calm, businesslike tone.
* * *
Whew.
Finally looking at the manuscript that had been revised, Yu-jin took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. It took exactly two days from the moment the idea came to him until the end. Fortunately, he was able to write in the study for a few hours while Winston was at work, and he considered this to be a pretty good pace. He felt belatedly dazed after receiving a message from the editor that the email had been safely received.
Is my book really coming out?
He left the study feeling like he was still dreaming. The editor’s last words kept swirling in his head.
‘Let’s release it to coincide with the Christmas season. It’s the perfect picture book to give as a gift to children. We’ll focus on marketing intensively.’
Christmas was not far away. Yu-jin had made plans with Georgina under the pretext of buying Christmas presents, but he hadn’t set a specific date yet.
I think I can go out now.
Winston didn’t say anything more that day. Yu-jin thought he had avoided the issue. In any case, Yu-jin wouldn’t be able to leave this mansion unless Winston allowed it. If he wasn’t careful, the wound still throbbed, but if he moved carefully, he could manage daily life without much difficulty.
If this method doesn’t work, I’ll have to go to Plan B.
Firming his resolve, Yu-jin headed straight to Angela’s room. He felt guilty for not paying attention to the child for the past two days because he was working on the manuscript. He was thinking that he should play house with Angela today, when it happened.
Suddenly, he heard a sound. It was coming from beyond the child’s open door. Was Angie talking to herself while playing alone? Thinking so, Yu-jin was about to enter the room when he suddenly stopped. An unexpected man was visible through the open door. It was Winston.
Suddenly at this hour?
Instantly, without realizing it, he quickly hid behind the door. His heart pounded as he thought he almost got caught using the computer. He tried to remember if he had properly erased the traces of his use, and then he took a deep breath to calm his mind. After his mind had cooled down to some extent, a question immediately followed.
What on earth is he doing?
Peeking inside through the crack in the door, the first thing that came into view was the large back of the man squatting on the floor. Only then did Yu-jin realize that the voices he had heard were Winston and Angela’s.
He’s usually at work at this hour, so why is he doing that there now? The question soon turned to shock. Winston was holding a pot and pretending to pour tea into a teacup, saying this.
“Princess, how is the scent of the lavender tea?”
Yu-jin hurriedly covered his mouth, which was opened as wide as his eyes, with his hand. He barely managed to hold back a scream of surprise. Winston is playing house. With Angela, even imitating the usual Butler’s tone.
At that moment, Yu-jin unconsciously took out his cell phone and took a picture of this rare scene. He quickly took a few pictures, but of course they didn’t notice. Angela was wearing a newly bought dress and even had a hairstyle he had never seen before. In the morning, Yu-jin didn’t have time to tie her hair, so she was only wearing a headband, but now she had her braided hair styled high like a princess. Who did that? The question arose, but more than that, it was more important to capture her cute appearance. Yu-jin hurriedly pressed the shutter.
