Then Winston turned his head, and Yu-jin suddenly met his gaze.
Instantly, Yu-jin took a step back without realizing it. He had clearly revealed his agitation, but there was no way to cover it up. He was at a loss, and as Winston stared intently at him, the corner of his mouth tilted up. Yu-jin’s face turned red with that smile that seemed to be mocking him. He felt ashamed, as if he had been stripped naked and thrown down in front of him.
What the hell is he trying to do?
An unknown annoyance welled up from deep inside. To disturb even the peaceful time he was spending alone with the child just to show him this sight.
Belatedly, anger surged. Looking back, it seemed like he didn’t need to be standing here like this.
Just as he made up his mind and was about to turn away, the music suddenly stopped and people applauded. He should have just left, but somehow he couldn’t. With a vague sense of foreboding, he reluctantly turned around and saw Winston walking straight towards him.
I’m screwed.
Yu-jin sighed inwardly, but he couldn’t run away now. Instead, he lowered his gaze and smiled in the other direction.
“That was a wonderful dance, Evelyn.”
When he complimented the woman who had followed Winston, she seemed a little surprised, but soon smiled softly and said,
“Thank you, Yu-jin. The first dance was originally supposed to be yours… but people kept bothering Winston, asking where his partner was and why he was alone. I didn’t have a partner either, and I owed him a favor from before, so I took this opportunity to repay it.”
She seemed very concerned that Yu-jin might be upset. Yu-jin felt a strange sensation. No one had ever cared about his feelings or mood before, but this woman, whom he had only met twice, and officially for the first time, was being so considerate of him.
Why does it have to be this person?
Just as he felt a bitter taste in his mouth, Winston opened his mouth.
“It was fun, Evelyn. I hope you enjoy the rest of the party.”
Even though it was just lip service, it was a much more polite and kind expression compared to the criticism he had directed at Yu-jin. Ignoring Yu-jin’s disgusted expression, Winston shared a light kiss on the cheek with Evelyn and parted ways. As he watched her disappear into the crowd, a voice suddenly came from above his head.
“Where have you been? I haven’t seen you all night.”
As expected, it was a completely different tone than before. Yu-jin looked up at him with a displeased expression and replied.
“It wasn’t like I was needed here anyway.”
“That’s not for you to decide.”
Winston mercilessly crushed Yu-jin’s small act of defiance. Looking down at Yu-jin, who was speechless, Winston continued.
“Don’t make decisions on your own. I decide whether I need you or not. Don’t act so arbitrarily in the future.”
“What are you going to do? Are you going to hit me?”
In response to Yu-jin’s last-ditch attempt at resistance, Winston gave him a strange smile instead of answering. When he felt a moment of fear at the narrowed eyes and the twisted corner of his mouth, Winston opened his mouth.
“Honey, I would never hit you.”
He said sweetly, stroking Yu-jin’s cheek. Then what is he going to do? Yu-jin was curious, but he was too afraid to ask.
Winston added, as if pleased with his quiet demeanor.
“I’m glad you’re not stupid, aren’t you?”
He smiled, but Yu-jin couldn’t smile back. Then someone greeted Winston, and the two continued a conversation that only they knew. Yu-jin just stood there blankly, like a discarded piece of furniture.
* * *
Haaaah.
Yu-jin let out a deep sigh, as if exhaling all the breath he had been holding in. He had excused himself to go to the bathroom and hid in a corner of the garden, and only then did he feel a sense of liberation.
This isn’t going to keep happening, is it?
Winston was clearly doing this just to torment Yu-jin. It can’t be just Yu-jin who finds it painful to be with him, so has he become a masochist while they were apart?
“Haaa.”
Another big breath escaped. He has to go back now. What will happen if he doesn’t follow his orders?
I can’t even imagine.
In any case, Winston was the one holding the knife right now. Yu-jin needed the checkbook he had promised to give him, anyway.
With reluctant steps, he returned to the mansion. The wedding reception was in full swing, and the number of drunk people was increasing here and there. Yu-jin avoided a man who seemed to be acting out and returned to where he had been.
……Huh?
Winston’s spot was empty. Puzzled, Yu-jin looked around, but he couldn’t see him anywhere.
Should I just go upstairs?
Yu-jin wavered for a moment, but soon shook his head. He didn’t want to do something he couldn’t handle later. Then what should I do?
As he was feeling troubled, he saw Kane walking by. Yu-jin hurriedly called his name and approached him.
“Kane, just a moment.”
Kane, who had turned his head, stood straight and waited for Yu-jin to approach.
“I’m sorry to bother you when you’re busy. Do you happen to know where Winston is? I can’t see him.”
“Ah, yes.”
As expected, Kane knew. After hearing that he was with his friends in the salon located at the far right end of the second floor, Yu-jin immediately headed in that direction. He was going to tell Winston that he was enjoying himself as he pleased, so he wanted to go back to his room and rest. Isn’t this enough?
Yu-jin walked quickly down the long, wide hallway, befitting the size of the huge mansion. He passed photos of large and small estates lined up on one wall and several doors, and finally reached his destination. He could hear the voices of men.
This must be it.
Thinking that he had come to the right place, Yu-jin stopped walking for now. The salon, which was in the opposite direction from the hall where the party was being held, had almost no noise from the party. Instead, thanks to that, the men’s voices could be heard very clearly. After standing there and catching his breath, he raised his hand to knock.
“I can’t believe Winston Campbell is marrying such a lowborn guy.”
At someone’s voice, he stopped his hand in mid-air. Another man’s voice could be heard through the slightly open door.
“It’s because of the will, they say. There’s no other choice.”
“Even so, marrying his father’s mistress, I can’t even imagine it.”
In an instant, it felt like all the blood was draining from his body. The men’s words continued in Yu-jin’s completely frozen ears.
“Turns out she’s an amazing femme fatale, isn’t she?”
“Of course. How else could she eat both the father and the son at the same time? Come on, that doesn’t make sense.”
Laughter erupted. In the midst of it, someone chimed in with an excited voice.
“Did you see his face? I don’t remember anything about how the wedding went. I’ve been fucking that male prostitute in my head so much that I won’t be able to use this for three months.”
“Did you fuck him with me?”
“We’re all sharing the same hole.”
Crude jokes were followed by a burst of laughter. Yu-jin’s knees were shaking, and it was hard for him to listen any longer. He wanted to leave, but he couldn’t move as if his whole body was frozen. Then someone else added.
“He’s a male prostitute anyway, right? He’ll fuck all of us here if we just give him money. How about it? Shall we try?”
“Good. He’s an omega, so if we just spray some alpha pheromones, he’ll get wet on his own.”
Crude whistles and cheers poured out from here and there. Just as he was feeling dizzy, someone shouted loudly, cutting through the noise.
“Winston, what about you?”That remark barely moved him. Yu-jin forced his trembling legs to drag him away. As blood began to circulate, resentment grew stronger than fear. How could he do this? Yu-jin had always kept in mind that their relationship was only a contract for the inheritance. Of course, Yu-jin wouldn’t be able to fulfill the contract and would leave this place before that happened. He still felt a little guilty for deceiving Winston.
He was biting his lower lip with anger, resentment, and many unknown emotions when suddenly the noise of the loud party reached his ears. As the sound of the salon faded away because they were on opposite sides, the party noise came instead.
