“Just bear with it a little longer. Once the will is read, everything will be fine.”
Winston stopped rubbing his forehead and looked at Mrs. Campbell through his fingers. She met his gaze with a face full of love and said,
“Don’t worry, isn’t it obvious what Harold’s will will say? He’ll give some to your other brothers, but that will be mere crumbs. Everything will be yours. Trust me.”
She spoke in a confident tone to encourage her son, but it was completely off the mark. Winston thought that she still didn’t know him at all, then or now. But he was past the age of complaining about it, and it didn’t matter to him anyway. The problem Winston was concerned about now was something completely different.
“Mother.”
Winston opened his mouth without changing his posture. He asked Mrs. Campbell, who immediately focused her attention on him, in his usual cool voice.
“Was it your instruction to guide Yu-jin to my bedroom?”
“What?”
Mrs. Campbell was visibly flustered by the unexpected question, which was the reaction Winston had already anticipated. Realizing that his guess was correct, he frowned even more deeply.
“Mother, don’t do such childish things.”
“I don’t know anything about it.”
Mrs. Campbell denied it with a straight face. But she knew it was already too late. Inevitably, Mrs. Campbell confessed honestly.
“I thought you would lose your mind if you smelled his pheromones and make a fool of yourself in front of him. I just wanted to show you his true colors in case you were swayed by that filth again.”
She made excuses for herself, but Winston only sighed deeply with a scowl.
“You were trying to give me a warning? Mother, what if I had lost my mind to pheromones and done something?”
At Winston’s pointed remark, Mrs. Campbell retorted with a stern face.
“That’s impossible, isn’t it? He’s just an ordinary omega. You’re an extreme alpha. Besides, you would have had enough pheromones at the party, so there’s no way you’d fall for the pheromones of such an insignificant child.”
This was also as Winston had expected. If Winston hadn’t gone to the pheromone party the night before, she would never have done such a thing. But she was overestimating her son too much.
“Your son is just a mediocre alpha.”
Winston said, but Mrs. Campbell immediately denied it with a stern face.
“It’s different. You’re an extreme alpha, like your father.”
The only extreme alpha in the family.
Thanks to that, Winston inherited most of the family fortune despite being the youngest. Mrs. Campbell had expected Winston, the most outstanding of her children, to take over the family, but when he manifested as an extreme alpha, her belief became certainty. Her youngest son was perfect. The leech that had clung to him for a while wouldn’t even be a small stain on his life.
But the brilliance of her son, which she was so proud of, became an obstacle in times like these. He always easily saw through other people’s tricks and schemes, so there was nothing she could do.
Winston had only fallen for a trick once. It was partly because Mrs. Campbell and everyone else had put all their efforts into devising the scheme, but the ultimate reason for its success lay elsewhere. Mrs. Campbell was always bothered by that reason. She consoled herself that it was enough that she had achieved what she wanted as a result.
If Winston hadn’t loved that filth so much, he wouldn’t have fallen for such a shallow trick.
Blinded by love, he couldn’t make any rational judgment, and as a result, he made a huge mistake. And he still doesn’t realize it. If things had gone as planned, he would have ended up that way without ever knowing.
Harold had played such a trick at the end.
Mrs. Campbell felt hatred for her departed husband once again. Did he feel even a little bit of guilt right before he died? What about the remaining children? What about me?
He upset Mrs. Campbell until the very end and left. She thought that if she could, she would bring Harold back to life and kill him with her own hands.
“Anyway, forget about that filth. Nothing happened, so that’s enough, isn’t it? Everything will be fine from now on.”
Mrs. Campbell said that and got up from her seat and kissed Winston on the head. He didn’t like her treating him like a child, but Winston didn’t say anything.
After his mother left, Winston, left alone in the breakfast room, leaned back in his chair and looked out through the full-length window on one wall. He saw birds chirping among the trees where a cool breeze was blowing. It was a peaceful morning. Completely opposite to his messed-up mood.
Damn it.
As he recalled it, his lower body throbbed again. He had come after releasing pheromones, so he would be fine? He was inwardly annoyed by his mother’s carefree words. It was the kind of foolish thing a beta, who would never experience such a thing in their life, would say. Yes, if it had been another omega, her words would have been correct. But it was Yu-jin who was lying in bed.
The very same Yu-jin who was once his omega.
Completely naked, he was sleeping without a care in the world.
When Winston first saw him, he thought he was hallucinating because his head was messed up by pheromones. Or maybe he was dreaming with his eyes open because of his long-standing insomnia.
But the other scent mixed with the familiar scent of his own pheromones permeating the room was telling him too clearly that it was reality. It was Yu-jin’s omega scent.
There was no mistaking it. Even in a party full of omega pheromone scents, Winston wasn’t excited at all. Rather, there were more than a few times when he almost stormed out of the place because he found the scent disgusting. There was only one scent that excited him like this.
Yu-jin.
The moment he realized it, he almost lost his mind. His heart raced like crazy, and his stomach burned hotly. Is this real? Is it really Yu-jin?
Yu-jin has really come back to me?
Unable to believe it, he was rooted to the spot, unable to even blink, and just looked at Yu-jin. The unusually bright moonlight was revealing his entire body. Winston couldn’t come to his senses at the sight of his soft lip line, long neck, small nipples rising moderately on his thin chest, and the graceful line flowing from his slender waist to his firm buttocks and legs. Everything was the same. The memory of the day Yu-jin first gave himself to him, the very day he was intoxicated with the satisfaction and sense of victory of having the whole world, came to mind, and Winston’s mind went blank. Bathed in white light by the moonlight, he was tempting Winston once again.
‘Winnie.’
There wasn’t a single thing about him, from his hair to his toenails, that wasn’t beautiful.
Winston was reminded of how deeply he had fallen for him. He sat naked on the bed, whispering Winston’s name and spreading his arms. As if asking him to hug him quickly. Of course, Winston couldn’t resist such Yu-jin, and after that, he became completely Yu-jin’s slave. He would do anything for Yu-jin. If he had told him to die, he would have really hanged himself. He loved him sincerely and gave him all his trust. Until the moment he realized how much Yu-jin had been manipulating him.
But he was no longer there. The Yu-jin that Winston loved was not real either. When he realized everything, the illusion was completely shattered, and he believed that his love for him had also been completely shattered and disappeared.
Unfortunately, Yu-jin’s body still captivated him. How many years had it been? He had suffered so badly and hadn’t seen him for several years, but Yu-jin completely shook Winston just by his existence. He didn’t reach out to him, didn’t smile, didn’t do anything, just lay in bed and slept.
The fact that he aimed a gun at Yu-jin in anger at that moment was also proving his defeat.
It would have been better if he had given in to his desire and hugged Yu-jin as he was. If he had, he would have had a lot to say, such as it was because of pheromones, or that lying naked in bed was obviously asking for such a result, or that you’re a slut anyway, so what difference does it make if I hug you?
But Winston aimed a gun in anger. That was proof that Winston still hadn’t forgotten Yu-jin at all. He hadn’t forgotten any of the memories of loving him so much, or the feeling of going to hell because of betrayal, and he was still completely captivated and bound by Yu-jin.
This is the last time.
Winston rubbed his face with both hands, washed his face dry, and let out a short sigh. He wasn’t worth dealing with. He was carrying a seed of who knows who and even had a child.
